I Don't Know About This

Mom brought home another cat! A wild and crazy kitten. She did tell me if it looks like I won't get along with her she can take her back to her original home. So far, I am not too pleased.

Mom is a bit worried ...

I have never been thin since I was a young kitty. In fact, I have been quite chubby! But, I lost 1 1/2 pound since I lost my dear sister Lucky. I had room to spare, so I am not skinny, but Mom is starting to worry and wonder what to do about it. She has been thinking about getting another kitty but thinks that could backfire if we don't get along. It could make things worse? or could it? She doesn't want to upset me or upset a potential new kitty. Oh, I just wish Lucky was still here.

Hello to all of our friends.
We are overwhelmed by all of the kindness shown by all of you. We received over 300 emails and gifts and comments for our dear Lucky. We are sorry that Mom was in no shape to communicate any further during this time. It was all she could do to help Squirrel along and read all of the wonderful and supportive messages from all of our friends through her tears. It is still hard for Squirrel and Mom to accept that Lucky is gone. Plus, she was still trying to help me deal with Tasha’s passing.
We don’t think it will be possible to thank all of you individually. Just please know that we read and appreciated every word, gift and kind thought from all of you. We had friends give us their personal emails and phone numbers even! Mom really appreciated that but couldn’t even talk to her own family about it. She is still trying to sort out her feeling and cannot speak about Lucky without crying. She just now phoned and left a message for her ex-husband about it, as he was her husband when she found the kittens and loves them too.
We will never know for sure but it seems like Lucky passed from a heart condition. It is the only thing that makes sense. Thinking that gives Mom some degree of comfort. Plus, knowing that the night before, Lucky came for her usual cuddles at bedtime and was her usual self in the morning. She even gave Squirrel a little chase and later came for a second helping of their Fancy Feast treat. There was no warning or signs of her being ill or in distress. She probably passed within an hour after Mom left the house.
It is impossible to express properly to all of you how wonderful you all are for taking the time to let us know how much you care. Right from the short little messages to the those who set up the candle pages, and from the ones who set up the photo in honor of Lucky, to those that gave rosettes and offered their personal information in order to help my Mom. We honestly have looked at and read every one of those. It involved a fresh set of tears from Mom, but they were tears of gratitude. She is thankful for each and every one of you who recognized how special our gentle little wildcat Lucky was. And is.

My letter after being named Chatty Cat of the Week...

Libby, Zoey, everyone... Thank you so much!
We had to double check that it was me because we have a friend that looks just like me named Squirrel. And she would be a worthy recipient.

As some of you know, we are in a bit of shock over losing our girl Tasha. Tasha was a fixture at our house. She was 15 and healthy dog right up until she got taken down by degenerative myelopathy. The hardest part about that was it was up to Mom as to when it was time. Not an easy thing to do. Tasha was also a cancer survivor. She had a great quality of life right up to these last days.
Luckily, Mom has a few days off to grieve and help Lobo grieve. He is very lost without his best buddy, Tasha. She is not sure how he will cope while she is at work for those long shifts.

The other thing that has happened in our family was the release of Lucky and my website. That was a labour of love from Mom to us. We received wonderful comments from all of our Catster friends. In case you missed it, this is the link: ome.html

Well, I guess I am living up to being a Chatty Cat!

Love you all and Mom and I want to thank you so much for your love and support.

Update on our May Mouse

Well, yesterday Mom set up her "Mousemaster" humane mousetrap at the top of the stairs. Lucky and I stayed up all night hunting. While Mom was sleeping we were working real hard. When she woke up, Lucky and I were both sleeping in our loft bed. She knew we were tired because we didn't get up right away for our Fancy Feast treat. I eventually came to the kitchen but Lucky was too tired. So Mom brought her breakfast in bed! Then, I casually walked over to the mousetrap and said, "By the way, the mouse is in here." as I tapped it with my paw. Mom couldn't believe it. She walked over to look and just caught a glimpse of its tail as it hid. Then she brought it outside and opened it up. The stupid mouse would not come out. It has two places to hide in the trap and when Mom would try and shake it out, it would just dart over into the other hiding place. So she just left it on the ground and went back in the house. From there, we watched it take its sweet time coming out. Three times it jumped out into the grass then ran right back into the trap. Finally, it realized that the coast was clear and in ran into some thick bushes.
Mom is really happy about us having herded the mouse right into the trap. So it was a happy ending for all of us.

Our May 1st Mouse

Mom just cleaned behind the refridgerator at 4am. Oh, and the reason she was doing that at 4am is because:

Mom worked until 1:00 am and was sleeping when she heard a big ruckus in the livingroom at 4am. She got up to look and saw us poking around her shoes that were under the coffee table. She is pretty smart and just knew we had a mouse. So, she put on other shoes and joined in the chase. Lucky went back to the basement looking for more while Mom and I played with this one. She took a short little video. Wish she had taken more video but she said she was much more interested in catching it and going back to sleep than in videotaping my prowess as a hunter. The video is of when the mouse went under the couch and hid under our Roomba. Mom had to move the couch. Good thing she is strong. Here is the video :
After the video was taken, the mousie went behind the fridge. That is when Mom moved the fridge and while she was there she cleaned behind it. Meanwhile, that sneaky little mouse ran away from there. We almost had it, when it ran back down to the basement. I was telling Mom to get it and she was telling me to get it. We had some miscommunication there. Mom had just watched an episode of Oprah that talked about the flesh eating disease and other super bugs so she didn't want to grab the mouse bare handed and get bit. I didn't know that was why she wasn't helping much. I was picking the thing up in my mouth!!! and making it squeak a bit.
Anyhow, Mom tried to go back to bed and get more sleep but I didn't let her. I needed a snack after all of that hunting and I wanted her to come down to the basement and help flush out the mouse! She didn't do that but was not able to go back to sleep.
So, now Lucky and I are hunting in the basement and Mom is typing about our adventure for us.

On one of my recent leash walks, I reminded Mom that she was supposed to check out the spot where the wasps had a nest. The spot where I was minding my own business when I got stung in the face! She had said she would take care of it in the winter. Well, winter is pretty well over, so I pointed out to her that spot again! She took the hint and pulled off the fake window shutter and found that there was indeed an old wasps nest in there. We took this video:
Then she went around the whole front of the house and removed ALL of those things and found numerous old nests behind them. She won't be putting them back up. So, our house looks kinda bald now, but so what?

I walked in the snow today!

I went out on my leash walk today and didn't notice that it had snowed a 1/4 inch before I stepped in it. I hesitated, but really wanted to go to the spot where I had seen the evil black cat! So, I kept going despite the crunching noises it was making and the cold, wet feeling I was getting on my toes. Mom was laughing the whole way. I went pretty far and was almost at the top of my driveway when a car went by. I wasn't really scared but used that as a good enough reason to get back in the house! Once inside, I licked my poor, cold toes and then beat up my leash and harness. I like to play with that after Mom takes it off of me. Mom wishes she had brought the camera but didn't expect me to walk in the snow today! Fooled her!

Mom has not been herself lately. She has been run down and then uncle Gordon passed away. She has been working too hard and not taking care of herself. Today, she started getting pains in her pancreas again. So, very unusual for her, she went for an afternoon nap. I let her get settled and then guess what I did? I jumped in bed with her and draped myself over her pancreas. Mom was very surprised and doesn't know how I knew where she was hurting and that I knew to act like a hot water bottle for her.
Of course all of us animals would do anything to prevent her from having to go to hospital again.

I've been tagged! Now I am tagging some of my friends...

Tag rules: Write 7 facts about yourself in your diary. Then tag 7 friends by pmail or by giving them a rosette to let them know you tagged them! Be sure to tag someone who hasn't been tagged yet!

1. I was thrown out, like garbage, with my sister Lucky.

2. When Mom found us, we tried to run away from her! We were so scared.

3. I am smaller but braver than my sister. Somehow, even though I am smaller, I am heavier than my sister. How can that be?

4. I have a twist at the tip of my tail. Mom noticed that I have a black freckle on my tongue! I can’t see it.

5. I have a white bib, white back feet, and a bit of white on my front paws. A few tips of my toes of my right paw and one toe on my left.

6. I like to go for leash walks in our front yard.

7. I like to get some lap time with Mom and I knead her soft belly before I settle. I also wait for her to get to sleep and then I sleep right on top of her shoulder.

We were tagged by Shai Ming who fetches!

And we are going to tag:

Ollie Popoki , the truck-stop kittie.

Kitty(koffekat) who has to put up with Boo.

Jake, whose arrival story has got to be read.

Smokey, who doesn’t like having her furniture rearranged.

Flubber, who gets along read well with his dogs.

Lightning Strike, who has a lightning bolt on his back!

Angel, our tiniest friend.
