Weird "cat" May 19,2007

Mom was up early this morning. She said it was because I was restless, but I think she was. So I got up with her and went out to sit in my special chair by the window. Suddenly I saw these two very strange looking "cats" in the yard. They were bigger than me, but smaller than the dogs that used to live next door. They were brown and had long tails and rings around their eyes. I got up and meowed at them and they started down the driveway and down the sidewalk to the neighbors house. I looked at Mom and tried to ask her about them. She looked very surprised. She said they were not cats, they were raccoons. What is a raccoon and why is it in my yard?

Thought I'd talk about my mom for a minute, since it's mother's day. She is a bit worried about me because I'm not eating much. She thinks maybe I'm depressed or bored since my brother went to the Rainbow Bridge. So, now she's awaiting the arrival of a new kitten in the house. But she worries about whether I'll accept a new baby, how we'll get along. I try to let her know not to worry about me so much, but I guess that's just what moms do. Moms worry about us, take care of our needs, give us love, take care of our health by taking us to the VET (even when we don't want to go), play with us, cuddle with us, give us treats, and pick up after us when we make a mess of things. At least, that's what my mom does. And all I have to do is give her my love. LOVE and Purrrs to you Mom, and to all the moms who take care of us furbabies, From Bella.

Mom put hearts by my name today. She says that's because she loves me. Yet, she calls me silly when I flip over on my back and lay like I'm sun bathing. Sometimes it just feels good to stretch out. She also says she is worried because I haven't been eating much the past couple of days. She knows I'm finicky and she bought the wrong canned food (Mom, you know I only like pate, not that flaked stuff), but she still is looking at me and asking me to eat more. She is threatening to take me to the VET (All right, it is almost time for my yearly check-up, so I'm going to have to go soon anyway), but I don't want to go any sooner than I have to. If she gets out that carrier, I'm going to hide!!!!!

There is a strange cat outside of my house. He had been here before and he doesn't belong here! Mom says she thinks he belongs to one of the neighbors, but I think then he should stay in his own yard. I don't go trespassing on his property! (of course, I don't go outside, so that would be hard to do) As long as he doesn't think he's going to be invited in for dinner or to visit, I guess I won't complain too much. Come to think of it, he is kind of cute. He's probably just attracted to my beautiful white coat and my adorable face (that's what mom says I have-so don't think I'm bragging, I'm just quoting her).

Thank heavens that's over! We had company the past two days. What Mom did not tell me is that we were having a human child stay with us for a whole day and night!!!! She is five years old and doesn't know much about cats, so I had to spend a lot of time hiding from her under the bed. Came out last night when she was asleep and took a long look at her though. She doesn't look as scary when she's asleep as when she's up and trying to chase me around the house. Mom said she just wanted to pet me, but how do I know that for sure? Anyway, she's gone now and things are back to normal around here. Time for a catnap!!!!

Mom's cleaning the house today. She says we are having company this weekend. I'm not always real fond of company-strangers in the house-so this really doesn't make me happy. I would much rather just spend the weekend with Mom giving me all her attention. I'm voicing my opinion right now, but she's not taking me seriously! If I don't like the company around I may have to hide under the bed all weekend. Oh, she just told me it's Auntie Ardis and Uncle Rich-they are ok. As long as they don't bring that new kitten yet! (Mom says it's too young to leave it's fur-mom yet so it's not coming for a while. Yeah!!!!!!)

All right, show of paws: how many of you out there hate to have your nails clipped? Mom insisted on doing mine this evening, even though I told her I wasn't happy about it. Now I'm spending the rest of the evening sitting on my front paws so she doesn't try it again!!!! She'll give up soon and go to bed and maybe by morning I'll forgive her for doing it. As long as she doesn't think she can get away with it very often. Usually as soon as she picks up the clippers I run for cover! She probably should bring me treats to make up for clipping my nails-hint, hint.

I am so happy. My diary is the Catster Diary of the Day! Thanks for the honor. Today has been a good day. Mom opened up the window in the living room and let me sit in the window to watch the birds. She says that it's spring and that's why all the birds are out there flitting around. There is a screen between me and them though, so I can't quite get to them. I just found out a little while ago that one of my friends here on Catster just had 4 baby kittens! Congratulations to Princess Annie Snow! It's fun being a part of this big group of friendly kitties.

Am getting ready to snuggle up with Mom and get some rest. Mom worked today and then she came home and spent a lot of time outside my window. She says she was doing "lawn work", but I don't see much point in that. She mows the lawn and it just grows back. She may as well forget it and just spend time playing with me. I watched her for a while, but then I fell asleep in the sun. When she came in, she got some yogurt out of the refrigerator for a snack. I got to lick the carton a little after she was done-because I'm able to sneak up and do that before she catches me eating her food! Now she's testing out names for some new little orange kitten that she says is coming here in a few weeks (what is orange? and why would you want to be that?) We'll see if I like orange when it gets here, I guess.

Mom's crying again. She had us all purring for a cat named TC who was ill with kidney failure (what BeeJay had before he went to Rainbow Bridge) and she just found out that TC is now an Angel Kittie too. It makes her so sad, even though everybody says that the kitties at the bridge are happy and healthy and having fun while they wait for the rest of us to join them. I'm going to have to do some extra good snuggling this evening to help Mom feel better. But I'm good at that, so hopefully she'll be smiling again soon.
