Ishtar tagged me to play this game! I have to answer some questions:

1. do you ever wake your parent up in the night?

I have two parents, and I sing concerts for them every night! I bring one of my catnip mousies into their bedroom and sing for them. They say they love my sweet little voice! *giggles* Then I take a nap, and then I bring in another catnip mousie and sing some more. If they've been really good and attentive humans during the day, I even give them a third concert, with a third mousie!

2. do you ever tear up things?

No. I'm a very good girl--the humans say so!

3. what is your favorite treat?

Turkey treats are nice! I'll take any treats, though, even hairball and tartar control treats. It's the thought that counts.

4. can you fetch something when asked to do so?

Yes, but I won't. In the same way I refrain from going through partly opened doors, but wait for a human to open it fully for me, I believe that humans should fetch for us, not vice versa. It's part of the service!

5. have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

*flips tail anxiously* I don't want to think about the shelter, or about being on the street before that! The main thing is, I'm now safe in my palace, the Cat Mahal, and I don't ever intend to leave.

Now, I'm tagging:

Meow--Nemo is sick! Nemo is sick! I'm purring for him very hard and I hope all his friends will do the same. He isn't eating, and he's had a lot of medical tests--I hope it isn't anything serious!

*flips tail frantically*

Purrrrrrr. . . . . .purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . . . purrrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . . .purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . . .

Sometimes I think humans must be totally crazy.

Today was a beautiful spring day. The temperature was warm and the sun was shining--a perfect day to take a long and delightful nap, don't you think? And that's exactly what I was planning, in my favorite spot, right in the middle of the humans' bed, with the sun heating my fur. How restful! If the humans had any sense, they would have lain down for a nice nap too--but of course they don't have any sense, so no sooner did I settle down than I started hearing all these noises from outside. I got up and went to the window to take a look.

There was dad, scraping our deck with a noisy metal tool--preliminary to "painting," I think he said. And there was mom, running around clumsily with a long hose and a bottle of fertilizer, meowing something about the perennial garden. She got more water on herself, I think, than she did on the perennials--MOL! Then dad grabbed some loppers and began cutting at an overgrown bush with them, while mom gathered up the branches he cut off and cut them into small pieces for disposal. Then they both went over to the fish pond and started doing something there--I couldn't see what, but they were running back and forth and carrying things. Busy, busy, busy! And noisy, noisy, noisy!

What a waste of a beautiful spring day!

There's a groundhog living under our deck! I saw him today, through the sliding glass door in my basement playroom. He's pretty big, too--about the same size as me. And his fur is an unusual color for a groundhog--he's the same color as Orangie. I wish he's go away, but I guess he won't--the accommodations are just too convenient. The groundhog who stayed with us last summer ate mom's pretty purple chrysanthemum--I hope this one has better manners!

I simply have to write about the real training breakthrough I achieved with my dad! He really is amazingly smart, for a human.

Yesterday the humans had to go somewhere in the morning and were running late, so they failed to put the nice, comfortable bedspread on top of the bed. Since I often like to sleep on it during the day, this was rather inconvenient for me. So when dad returned home and came upstairs, I meowed at him several times, loudly but firmly, and led him to the bedroom (he's good at following). Then, while he watched, I walked around the bed and meowed some more. And guess what--the penny dropped! He understood what I wanted! He immediately went to get the bedspread and put it over the bed for me. Such a good boy!

I hopped up immediately and settled down for a nice, refreshing nap.

Intruder alert! Intruder alert! There's a strange repairman in my basement. What is he doing? I should go see--but wait, I don't want to go see! I want to stay upstairs, where it's safe. Should I go to my hidey hole under the bed? Yes, right away--no, wait, if I do that I won't know if he *shudder* comes up! I know--I'll hide behind the door here at the top of the stairs. I can listen for him then, but he won't be able to see me. *flips tail anxiously* I wish mom would stop bringing strangers here to "make improvements" in my palace--I think it's absolutely purrfect just the way it is!

My humans seem to be kind of tired today. I guess it's my fault--I have to agree that four nighttime arias, each accompanied by a trip to their bedroom with a different catnip mousie, may have been a bit too much (my usual maximum is three). Oh, well, I know they appreciate the arts, so I don't think they mind the sacrifice. They can always nap with me in the nice sunny spot under the skylight--what beautiful weather we're having! I'm so glad winter is over.

Today was my Gotcha Day. I got a lot of presents from my furriends, and from my sweet boyfurriend Copy, who I love so much! Mom played "Happy Gotcha Day" for me on her violin--squeak, squeak! *lies on back and rolls happily from side to side* I got lots of extra attention from mom and dad here in my palace.

Dad says that tomorrow is his and mom's Gotcha Day--it's their 35th wedding anniversary! I'll have to give them a lot of extra attention too. Maybe tonight, for the usual nighttime concert I give them, I'll sing "Happy Gotcha Day" myself! *flips tail excitedly*

What a morning! There was a stranger in my palace, some kind of repairman, and mom kept talking to him. I, of course, ran upstairs and hid under the bed--I don't like repairmen working in my palace, or outside it either, if they're anywhere near the windows (I remember that annoying painter who came last year and actually CLIMBED UP ON A LADDER so he was right outside my favorite sunny window!).

After the repairman left I came out and gave mom's legs a thorough round of head butts and rubs. I wanted to make sure she remembered that she belongs to me, and has to pay attention to me instead of talking to strangers!

Meow! Meow! Mom, open the linen closet door. I want to jump up on the towels and see how they're doing. I'm sure they need a fresh sprinkling of cat hair.

Meow! Meow! Dad, don't you see I'm up on the arm of the loveseat? You know that means I want my neck scratched. What's taking you so long to get over here?

Meow! Meow! Mom, come over to my food dish right now and watch me eat. You know I don't feel comfortable dining unless there's an attendant on paw, in case I need anything.

Meow! Meow! Dad, open the basement door. I want to go down to my basement playroom again. Yes, I know I just came up five minutes ago. . . .

Training humans is hard work!
