Thunder and Rainbows

Today we had all kinds of crazy noises coming from the sky, but then I remembered it is sweet Calvin's birthday! Between his party and Mercy's welcome purrrade, there was so much noise that we heard it here! heh-heh! That Calvin did always have a wild side. He is probably doing donuts with that big Cat-illac of his!

The noise could be heard all the way here in Connecticut. That is really impressive for a party that does not even include a certain Tiny Terror with a giant Black Whisker!

But then we saw something even more pawsome. Our friends and family that have gone to Heaven said hi to us with a big, bright shiny rainbow in the sky! Then we knew for sure that our friends were just having a great big party. We always smile and wave happily at the rainbow greetings we get from Heaven!

Calvin, we love you and miss you so much! Taz and Gleek, please get better and stop being sick little mancats!

Home from the Lodge

Mommy finally got around to picking me up at the Catskill Lodge today in between taking my Grandma all over creation for her medical appointments and errands. My Grandma fell down while I was away at the Lodge and got a BIG BOO-BOO on her face. She came with Mommy to pick me up, and I almost did not recognize her, but she will mend.

One of my neighbors at the lodge was named Calvin! I was so excited about that. I had a double cabin just for me. I did some fishing and relaxing. I have to say the service there was not great. One day, they gave some other camper his breakfast first. Once I corrected them, they were sure to feed me first. I always get fed first at home and expect the same treatment at the Lodge.

Mommy says the house was quiet and pee-pee free while I was away, but she is so happy to see me and to be home with her whole family.

Meowlo, friends! I am just finishing packing for my trip to the Catskill Lodge. I have a DOUBLE cabin reserved there. I will get to stay there while the rest of the cats have a boring catsitter at home.

I hope you all have a happy and safe 4th. We love all of our Catster friends!

Now, where is my fishing pole?

Castiel's Catio! My bedroom!

Today all cats were evicted from our Catio. Mommy said this weekend she needs to use it at a porch to host a picnic-party and it can't smell like cats or have cat furs. Poor Cas is now wondering why he can't go to sleep on his bed out there, not realizing his bed it not there now. Speaking of beds, most of us cats like to pile on to the guest room bed. But Mommy says Uncle Fred and Uncle Marco are going to sleep over at our house and they need that bed. But get this...we are not even allowed to GO in there at all under after they leave! Mommy said something about cat furs and how the room is clean and it needs to stay that way.

With so many cats, it's getting pretty crowded in the few places we are allowed this weekend! Mommy already threatened to stop feeding us this weekend to keep us from puking, but Cas retaliated nicely by puking in the middle of the floor where Mommy stepped in it with her good shoes. I think I am starting to like this guy.

Sweet 16! Almost!

I just was looking at the calendar and realized that my Sweet 16th birthday is in two months. We know the year I was born from questioning my old vet from my old family, and we celebrate my birthday on the anniversary of when I showed up to adopt my new and much improved family.

I am doing ok with my health for now. I am less active and generally turning into an old man cat, but overall I can't complain. I can't wait to turn 16 and all I want for my birthday is to get more years with my family!

I am going my first vacation in late June when Mommy and Daddy leave town. They think I am too special to be left alone with only a catsitter, so I am headed to the Catskill Lodge for some alone time. Every mancat should have his own lodge!

Blood results

Meowlo, friends! My blood work came back with some weird results, but nothing catastrophic. My liver values were a little elevated, but I do not have pancreatitis. I have a folic acid deficiency that is probably causing me not to absorb enough nutrients, which could explain my weight loss. I have to take a supplement for six weeks and get retested. The doctors say this sometimes happens in kitties like me that have had a severe and ongoing thyroid issue. Hopefully this will be the answer and I can go back to being cured!

Thanks for all your purrs. They are helping.

More tests

Hello Every Cat-

By now you all know about our house guest. He seems to get along ok with every cat. Every cat except for me, that is! I finally just got those other four cats that moved in trained and put into their places. I hope this new guy is not staying. He mostly just ignores other cats.

Luckily, he seems to get the message that I am in charge. He is allowed in the house for very short visits, but only when I am not able to get at him. Mommy does not want us fighting in case he bites me, which he would only do if I attacked him and he was desperate. He's a lover, not a fighter!

I went to the doctor on Friday. I lost another quarter pound. My urine looks ok (not great, but not getting worse) so my kidneys are holding their own. I feel a little bit bonier too. The doctor wants me tested for pancreatitis. So the vampires got extra blood from me and will test me. The normal blood work will be back today. The pancreas enzymes will take longer.

If the tests are negative and I continue to lose weight, I will get x-rays and whatever else they need to see inside me.

I was extra good at the vet. It only took three people to get the blood. The doctor and her tech made a big fuss over me. I hope this problem is nothing too serious. My family is not ready to lose me and I am not ready to go!

If you have any purrs to spare for me, I could use a few so that my blood will say what is wrong with me and it will be something easy to treat.

Stair surfing on a box of socks

Today I stood up and was about to get off the big bed when Mommy saw me and pushed the bed stairs closer to me to help me down. I said "Thank you , Mommy" and then started off for the dining room for some noms.

I got about halfway down the big stairs to the first floor when I got stuck. I needed a help. I had accidentally stepped into a box of socks that was sitting on a step. About half the box was hanging over the stair. If I took a wrong step and shifted my weight too much, the box and I would go flying.

Mommy heard me fussing and came right away. She gasped when she saw me and tried to think of a way to get me out of the box without tipping it over. Normally any cat would know to just jump right out of that silly box of socks, but I am almost 16. My jumping moves are not what they used to be.

I took that dreaded step to the edge and Mommy yelped "no!" and her panic scared me so I took another step and then wheeeeeeee! I was surfing! I bailed near the end though by jumping, but thankfully I landed the jump.

Me, Mommy, the box and all of the socks landed at the bottom of the staircase at about the same time. (Mommy did not fall but came running very fast.) Mommy held me close and muttered something about how certain people should know better than to leave their box of socks on the stairs for people and cats to have accidents.

Well, I would not be in any hurry to do that again, but it was kind of fun! I showed everyone that I can still jump when I need to!

Today I got up and went over to where my Mommy was sitting at her desk. I wanted some noms, but she said it's not time yet. Then I threw my rearend on to the ground and started scooting myself all over the floor. I was so uncomfortable! Mommy saw me do it again and then I got scooped up and taken to see Daddy. Mommy hoisted up my tail to reveal the culprit...a hitchhiking piece of dried poop stuck to my furs.

The three of us went to the other room to rid me of the unwanted guest. I am sure glad it's gone now. I feel a lot better without that thing clinging to me and tugging my furs in all the wrong places.

Good-bye, Spud

Tonight my Mommy and Daddy went to visit Auntie Janet. Janet lives in the house next to our old house where we lived when I adopted Mommy and Daddy. Janet is a big fan of mine, and I used to let her pet me and give me treats.

Janet had a cat too, but he stayed inside only. His name was Spud. Back then, I was allowed outside to rule my territory that I had established over many years of being an indoor/outdoor kitty. (I have since retired and stay indoors only.)

Spud liked to lounge in his kitchen window, and I would go over there and sit under the window and tease him mercilessly about being an indoor kitty. He wanted to come outside and play! He was a good sport about my teasing. Occasionally he would sneak outside, and Mommy would help Janet look for me, and Janet would help Mommy when I went missing for too long.

I found out that Janet had to send poor Spud to the Bridge last month. He was an old man cat, but still it's hard to say goodbye. Janet came to visit me last Christmas Eve and see me in my fancy Christmas collar, and she told me Spud seemed unwell, but I was purring he would be ok.

Good-bye for now, my friend Spud! I will see you on the other side.
