Thunderstorms and fireworks, too?!?!

I'm not a big fan of fireworks (or thunderstorms, either)! Sophie and I hide together in her doggie den. I cuddle with her, sometimes even on top of her!

When mom first saw me in Sophie's den during a thunderstorm, she was a little worried (ha! mom worry? what else is new!)! The very first time she found me in there, I was still pretty little. Sophie was curled up in a ball and I had climbed right onto her and had my face buried in the fur on her back and neck! I stayed there for hours and Sophie didn't seem to mind. Actually, I think cuddling together made Sophie and I both feel better!

So, after years of my scaredy behavior of hiding with Sophie, mom is used to it. Anytime there is thunder, rain, or those darn fireworks, that's where you can find me- cuddling and hiding with my big furry sister Sophie!

And wouldn't you know it? Yesterday we had a thunderstorm and mom says tonight we might have a thunderstorm and fireworks! Sophie, get ready- here I come!

Oh, and a happy 4th of July to everyone!

Cat napping with mom!

Today, I surprised mom by taking a nap by her head! I used to do that when I was a kitty but now that I'm a big girl I'm not too into snuggling. Actually, I like when mommy gives me loving and attention, but I get so excited about it that I can only take a little bit at a time. I'm most certainly not a lap cat!

I do like to sleep near mom, but I only join her once she's already asleep and I move before she wakes up. If she wakes up and sees me there and tries to pet me, I move along.

Of course, today I was just soooo sleepy and I couldn't help myself! I plopped down right next to her and took a cat nap. I could tell mom wanted to pet me (I opened my eyes and peeked at her a couple of times), but I've taught her well!

Okay, I realize that I am the least furry of my fur siblings. I mean, geez, of course I know! I spend much of my time grooming Sophie- that's my job! And I take it very, very seriously.

But.......I still love when mommy brushes me. And when she tries to take over my job of grooming Sophie, I let her know that it's really MY turn to be brushed.

Baby dinosaur?

I recently started letting mom know when Sophie needs to go outside or come inside by meowing. But......

Everytime I meow to let mom know about my doggie sister Sophie, mom starts laughing! She said I don't sound like a kitty- she says I sound like a baby dinosaur!

I have been tagged by my beautiful friend Hershey! I have to name six things I don't like and then tag six friends.

Here goes:
1. I do not like thunder (or rain or loud noises).
2. I do not like to be cold.
3. I do not like car rides (or where they usually lead- the v e t).
4. I do not like when Mommy and Sophie are outside.
5. I do not like when my mousies or Mr. Fishie or my glitter balls roll under furniture and I can't reach them (or do I like this? I seem to set up this situation quite frequently).
6. I do not like kitty treats (they give me itchy ears).

I am tagging the following six kitties:

Benjamin
Cousin Max
Baxter
Gertie
Destiny
Onyx

making new friends

I have a new friend. He is red, blue, yellow, and purple. He's different then my mousies- he doesn't make any rattle noises and he is satiny soft, not rough and stringy like my mousies. My mom told me that he is a fishie. I think I like fishies!

The truth is, Mr. Fishie has been around for a long, long time. I never really took notice of him. He was quite obviously NOT a mousie and I am partial to mousies. The other day, as I was picking up all of my kitty toys and dropping them/batting them to the floor from their perch on my cat tree(which I love to do!), I noticed Mr. Fishie. He didn't see me. He was just lying there on the floor, next to all of my mousies and a couple of glitter balls and feather puffs.

"Hmmm, what IS that?" I wondered. To mommy, my wondering sounded like a short mew and a quick clicking sound. I quickly jumped down and ducked behind the cat tree. Then I slowly peeked my head around the corner......and he was still there! He hadn't heard me.

I ducked back behind my cat tree and I raised my little kitty bottom up in the air, my tail twitching from side to side. I peeked around the corner again- he was still there- no sign of movement!

With my tail twitching I POUNCED! I landed directly on Mr. Fishie- I rolled around on him, picked him up in my paws, nipped at him, and then clutched him to my chest. I immediately realized how much I liked Mr. Fishie- he's all satiny and slippery and the slipperiness really tests my hunting abilities!

No, don't get me wrong. I still love my mousies! But this Mr. Fishie, he is my new friend!

Sorry mom, not interested

I was hanging out with my doggie sister Sophie today on mom's bed. We were peacefully looking out the window and dozing when all of a sudden my mom appeared!

She kept saying how cute we looked and she went and grabbed her camera. Right before she was about to take a photo, I hopped off the bed and started to walk away. She picked me up and put me back on the bed but, let's be honest, the moment had passed. Sorry mom, too slow! So I hopped off the bed again.

Of course, she picked me up again and set me down next to Sophie again. This time, I realized that Sophie hadn't had a good kitty bath for at least ten minutes, so I went to work. I primarily concentrated on her right ear and her fuzzy neck. Let me tell you, keeping her clean is a full time job!

And as I was busy grooming my sister, my mom kept calling my name and making weird clicking sounds. Um, sorry, but I'm too busy to look in your direction or acknowledge you, Mom!

I did finally let her take a picture of me next to Sophie, but I turned my back to the camera!

Silly Mom! I'm fine!

My mom is so silly- such a total worrywart! She had to go out of town for the weekend and she was soooooo worried about me! It was the first time I have ever been home alone. My doggie sister Sophie stays at the vet's boarding (aka Maui) and usually Sally and I stay home together and mom has someone check in on us. But since Sally went to the rainbow bridge a month ago, it was just me at home, all alone.......

And mom was driving herself crazy worrying about how I would do, home all alone for the first time. So she had the cat sitter come by 3 times in two days and she couldn't stop worrying about me the whole time she was gone! Really, it was so silly of her. I'm a big girl and it was kinda fun to have the house all to myself. I mostly slept, watched birds out the window, and chased my toys around the house. I loved when the cat sitter came by- she told mommy that I was more affectionate and social than I have ever been before- I even let her pick me up and hold me!

I was happy when mom and Sophie got home today- I had a lot to tell them! I think my mom still thinks I am a little kitten- the baby of the family.......but I proved to her that I am (kind of) all grown up now!

Midnight energy!

Well, everyone around my house is still pretty sad. It seems like everyone (my mom) is starting to come to terms with the reality that my sister Sally has gone to rainbow bridge but we all still feel pretty sad about it.

I was so confused the first few days! I kept meowing and in the middle of the night, I stalked my mommy and repeatedly dropped all of my favorite toys on her head all night long. I also managed to climb behind a dresser and get stuck (at 3 am)! Luckily Mom heard me right away and rescued me. Then she rearranged the dresser so that I can no longer get behind it!

Oh and I have started carrying all of my favorite toys in front of the dresser, dropping them, and then batting them under the dresser where no one can reach them! The best part is, I lay there and meow over and over again until mommy comes, moves the dresser, and frees my toys! And then......I do it all over again! I have taught my mommy my favorite game- fetch.

I guess that I just really miss Sally and now that I don't have her to play with in the middle of the night, mom will do.
