All the Catmas celebrations are over with until next year. Likewise for Mommy's birthday. She told me it's 'back to reality" when all the festivities are over with and the grind of the 9 to 5 world is back.

Anyway, on a different note, I thank the Diary Gal for honoring me as one of the Diary Picks today. This is the second time that my "Catmas Story" got picked for the top five diaries. Woo-Hoo!

I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. MILO - cool comment;
3. HENRY - cool comment;
4. TYSON - cool snowman.

Also, I noticed that our good angel friend Buddie is sharing the limelight with me today! Concats, Buddie!

Lastly, while Auntie Mary was here yesterday, I was scared again and stayed under the coffee table the whole time. Joss was a bit skittish, and only sniffed Auntie Mary's hand once (Mommy told me this).

Well, that's about it. I hope everyone had a pawsome Catmas!

Again, another year has gone by and it's Mommy's birthday again today. So, keeping in tradition, here's a story I wrote for her when I was a young boycat:

A CATMAS PAWTY by Merlin, the Panther Boy

On Catmas eve, I went to bed early. Later that night, I woke up at the stroke of midnight from a deep sleep by the sounds of loud piano music, drums, and a trumpet. Catmas carols were being sung in our native tongue: meows, howls, breeps and chirps.

I got up from Mommy's bed where I always sleep every night. I walked slowly down the hall toward the computer room. The door was open slightly. I found this to be very odd as Mommy always had this door closed to keep my brothers and I out. I peeked through the crack of the door and saw, to my amazement, all of Mommy's cat figurines had come to life, jumped out of the glass display cabinet and were pawtying! Portia-Lynne was playing the piano while her husband Sir Ramic blew on the horn! Their three little ones, China, Cyrstal and Blenko sat atop the piano and sang in their beautiful high-pitched breeps. Some of the kitty figurines of unknown names were dancing as Portia-Lynne and her husband played Jingle Bell Rock. Others stood and talked while they drank varying Catnip type drinks: Catip Sunrises, Catnip Ladies, Catnip Cape Codders (Catnip with cranberry juice).

A Catmas tree, stood tall behind the piano and perched in the top of the tree was the Cheshire Cat grinning and swishing his large plumed tail!

I wanted to pawty with them and the thought of meeting a girl went through my head. I decided it would not be a good idea to enter the room as there was magical spell in here on this Catmas Eve. All the kitties were not real and if I joined in, I would become like them after the party ended and would have to spend the whole year on the shelf with them as a figurine.

I value my life too much. I love my Mommy and brothers and sister and I'd miss them and they'd miss me. Because of this, I decided to watch the pawtiers from a distance. They were all too drunk on catnip drinks and they never noticed me watching them.

Eventually, I returned to my bed and didn't wake up until the Catmas morning sunlight poked through the bedroom window blinds.

The dream was still very alive in my head and out of curiosity, I went into the computer room to find the following: The glass door to the display case was slightly ajar and one of the windows was open a crack, and on the floor was the figurine of Portia-Lynne wearing our Santa hat. But the strangest thing of all was the look on her face. She was smiling up at me . . . . .

The End

So, there you go. I was young and little almost seven years ago when I wrote this story. Every year, I'm bigger than the year before. I'm the biggest cat in the furmily. I was 17.7 on my last vet check when Landy pierced my left ear. In March of 2006, (when I joined Catster) I was a little guy of 2 1/2 months old. Happy Birthday Mommy. This is my present to you!

I know Santa Claws is carefully watching Landy this year especially after that ear piercing event. I think Landy should get coal in his stocking!

This morning I was in the small cat tree which Mommy got for Joss when she was a smaller kitten. Anyway, Landy walked a little bit too close for comfort so I bopped him in the britches. MOL!!!

Of course, Mommy was there to make sure neither of us got into it again. We didn't. Landy walked away.

Also, my ear has healed up (it's not red) but there's a small lump on it. Mommy thinks it's something called a "keloid" (sp?). Those are lumps that form sometimes after piercings. It's not hurting. Mommy's waiting to see if my fur grows back on it and then it'll be covered. If it doesn't she'll check with the vet.

Lastly, I too extend my concats to Joss on her famous weekend.

This is a short note to let everycat know that my left ear is doing much better. It has a scab on it and also it's not red and swollen anymore. I took my last pill Saturday morning and also the last application of ointment on my ear.

So far, Landy and I aren't messing with each other since the incident. I hope it stays that way.

Got to run.

This is a short note to let everycat know that my left ear is doing much better. The Clavamox pills and ointment are doing their job. Mommy notes that there is no hole in my ear anymore and the redness is gone. Thank you everycat for your purrs and concerns too!

As to anything else, whenever Mommy gives me the Clavamox pill, she gives me a little catnip as a treat afterwards. I'm thankful for that. It makes taking pills less stressful.

It's true that Landy pierced my left ear! And no, Mommy isn't letting me wear one of her gold earrings!

It happened like this:

Earlier in the week, Landy and I got into a nasty altercation. It took place while Mommy was awake and her alarm for 6:00 a.m. didn't go off yet. We fought and I pinned Landy down and I wouldn't let him go. He then bit me on my left ear! It hurt like crazy and I let out a loud screeching meow. Mommy got out of bed and found Landy and I with our fur standing on end and balls of my black fur coating the hallway rug. She also found some dewclaws from us (this happens after nasty fights). Mommy told me she thought of the bad fights that Bail and Yingy got into a couple of times.

Anyway, She looked at both of us and saw no wounds but a bald spot on my left ear. She thought Landy scratched my ear and pulled some fur out. A couple of days went by and on Friday, my left ear had a scab on the front and back of it. She then called the vet and set up an appointment for me.

The vet cleaned my poor ear with an antiseptic and the scab fell off. She said the would was a bite and she believes it went all the way through (piercing) and had healed shut on the back portion because she couldn't see all the way through the hole. I was prescribed Clavamox 1 and 1/2 pills twice a day for a week, and also some ointment to put on my ear twice a day for one week.

My ear is looking better already. Also, it doesn't hurt as much as it did. Mommy told me she was very proud of me as I take my pills in a pill pocket like a mancat. I also let her put the ointment on my ear with no problems.

As to poor Sampy, he has a messed up eye and accompanied me to the vet the very same day. He needs ointment in his right eye twice a day for a week.

What a CATastrophy! It cost Mommy a whole bunch of money to take care of this too.

Question: Does anybody want Landy! I'll be the first to boot him out of the house if he tries to pierce my ear again!!

Anyway, this is a learning experience for me to never, ever pin down Landy as he BITES!!

I hope everycat had a better week than I did. Hopefully, the rest of December will be good around here.

Our Catmas pages are pretty much done. I don't understand why Joss' page is all animated and glittery. I suppose it's a girl thing. Us boy's pages don't glitter too much even though they're supposed to. Is that our computer or what?

Anyway, I'm coming more out of my shell. I let Auntie Mary pet me twice. I also stayed downstairs and didn't hide under the bed like I usually do. Mommy and Auntie Mary are so proud of me. I'm proud of me too 'cause I'm not being such a wimp anymore.

Lastly, I love the way my page looks. I'll give Mommy a big concats for staying home and doing our pages today! Usually, she goes out shopping on both days.

Well, I'm going to keep it short. I hope everycat had a pawsome Thanksgiving!

Joss and I get along pretty good. We share the windowsill perch a lot as you can see by the second pic on her page and also on main pic on FB. She and I also play "high fives" frequently. I like her so much that I've let her have the code for the psychedelic panther pic for her page. Of course, she calls it "Panther Girl".

Anyway, we had a hot, windows open day yesterday and the day before. It'll still be warm today around 70 degrees. We have to enjoy this while we can because a cold front will be here for the weekend. I certainly hope it warms up for Halloween.

How about that! It's my turn at being one of the Diary Picks today! Thank you Diary Gal for this honor!

I also thank my following friends for their concats:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. TONY & ANNA - cool pumpkin;
3. MORTICIA - lovely red rose;
4. SMILEY CASSANOVA - pawsome pawmail;
5. SERENA SWEET ANGEL - cool pumpkin.

Also, we're having a heatwave today reaching around 82 degrees. It's been rather cool in between 70-75 degrees during the weekend and this week. Of course, the windows will be open wider today.

Lastly, Mommy picks up Cam's ashes tomorrow. She has cleared a spot next to Bentley's urn which is in the display case in the computer room. She hopes Cam's urn is really beautiful like Bentley's.

Got to go now. Time is running out.

I too miss Cam even though she and I never bonded. We always looked at each other from a distance. She growled at me a few times and I sometimes hissed and walked away. I never attacked nor bullied her. I gave the girlcat respect.

Still, I do miss her. She was originally Mommy's Mom's cat since 1993 and when "Grandma" passed away in 2005, Mommy became her new Mommy. I got to meet Cam in 2006 when I was a kitten and even then I never messed with her.

All in all, Cam was a decent cat and very old. I know she had a great life and lived it to the fullest. Mommy thinks Cam was holding a secret and never told any of us. Since Cam became an indoors cat in 2008, she chose to stay in the bathroom corner near the heating/AC vent. Until this year a little after Mommy came back from her knee surgery, Cam started to come out of her shell and be more sociable. She even started a partial bond with Sampy.

About 1 1/2 months ago, she started sleeping in the hallway next to our water/dry food court. A few weeks ago, she chose to sleep and hang out between Mommy's bed and the end table.

I'm speculating Cam knew that her time was drawing near and she wanted to be closer to us and Mommy. Her secret was big and even the vet could not find anything wrong with her blood panel nor her heart, and Mommy and he thought she would make it through the oral surgery.

Anyway, she is now at the Bridge as everycat knows. God gave her a full life of 20 years old! That's the longest living cat that we ever had in our family next to Isis who made it to 16 years old.

So I end my blog with "I miss you Cam, and I know you're in good hands at the Bridge and with your first Mommy and all our angels and a lot of Catster angels; Colleen, Violet, Calvin, Rocky Ann, Milo, Mercedes and many others".

Purrs & Breeps to all,
