I had to go to the vet yesterday for two shots! Bummer!! A rabies shot and a distemper shot which each are good for three years. Good! I'm glad don't have to go through that each year!

I weigh 17.2 lbs. I lost a tad and the vet said I was a little chubby and it would be good if I lost 2 lbs. She thinks 15 lbs would be a great weight for me. I don't think so because I weighed 17.7 lbs a few years ago and I was told I was good at that weight and wasn't chubby, just big boned. Of course, my catmom was a Maine Coon. I can't help it if my genes make me big!!!! I call this a different opinion from a different vet. I feel great at 17.2 lbs!!!

Lastly, I'm one of the kitties who gave Mommy the most purrs during her bout with the nasty intestinal flu. I'm glad she's doing better now. I don't want our Mommy sick or in the hospital and then strangers would have to come here to help feed me and the rest of the gang.

Well, I'll be on my way. I think Joss, Landy and Sampy may have something to say today too. It's been quite a while since any of us wrote in our diaries.

Have a pawsome day, my friends,

Wowza! I'm one of the Diary Picks today! Thanks so much Diary Gal for this pawsome honor!

I also thank my following friends for their gifts & concats:

1. TATE- cute bluebird;
2. BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
3. SMILEY CASSANOVA - pawsome pawmail;
4. MILO & MALLEE - cool kite and comment;
5. TIGER & TINY - cool baseball.

Also, that dove I wrote about last week came to the back window and taunted Joss. She flung herself at the window pane just like I did. Of course, the bird took off.

Speaking of birds, there are a lot more around now since the weather is getting warmer; bluejays, robins, grackles, finch, woodpeckers, mourning doves, and last of all mockingbirds. We cats have a wild array to look and chatter at.

Today will be a tad cooler that yesterday. I think Mommy said the mid 60's.

Lastly, I think Joss has a screw loose. She constantly talks to herself while she runs all through the house and flings herself into the bathtub. Her vocabulary is much different than the small squeaks and Breeps that I do. Murrrrrup, makak, kak, rrrrrrrrr, then a few regular meows thrown in. Yep, our new sis is a trip and we all love her.

Well, I'm must get back to my Caturday bird watching.

There's a mourning dove that likes to sit on the outside windowsill in Mommy's bedroom every morning. Yesterday, it was taunting Bail. Today, it did the same to me. I didn't lay back like Bail does . . . I flung myself at the window pane and the dove flew away. I bet I scared the poop out of that bird!!! MOL!!

Anyway, I wonder who'll be the next cat this bird tries to mess with. I'll let you know tomorrow morning.

Have a pawsome Friday, everycat!

WOWZA! Our sis, Joss, got Diary Pick today! She's doing really well for being a "new girl". Anyway, concats, sis!

Also, she and I have one BIG thing in common! We're both nip heads! That girl, loves nip as much as I do and in fact the stuff gets her all revved up. It's high octane to her. I don't get that hyper on nip; I get a more laid-back type of buzz.

Lastly, Mommy got some more pics of me. This time I was laying in the kitty castle and I let her take about five pics. She thinks a few came out really nice. They'll be put on FB and my page.

Well, I got to run. Mommy's going to this place called, "Savage Mill". It's an old cotton (or other textile type mill) that was converted into a lovely shopping mall. She told me that they have really cool stuff there along with restaurants.

During most of today, I was a couch potato. I slept on the big couch in the living room. I kicked down two pillows and laid on top of one and put my head on the other. Another Kodak moment that Mommy missed.

Also, Jocelyn Mae likes me. I don't let her get too close to me as I don't want to wrestle with her. At least I don't hiss at her like I, most of the time, did to Cam.

Anyway, Valentine's Day is fast approaching. I hope everycat likes my page.

Today's my 7th birthday; also my litter mate Kali is celebrating her big day even though she isn't on Catster. As everyone knows, she's Auntie Mary's cat who looks like Joss. Yep, Kali's the one in the blue bandanna on my front page.

Thank you HQ for the yummy cake. I also seen Mommy put some salmon in the 'fridge yesterday. Oh boy, a salmon pawty on my big day!

I also thank my following friends for their gifts and birthday wishes.

1. MARMELADE - pretty heart;
2. SAMOA & Family - yummy cupcake;
3. MR. SAM & Family - cool snowman;
4. BIG HARRY & Family - pretty blue rosette;
5. SKYLAR & Family - football;
6. TIGER & Family - pretty blue rosette;

Well, I must be on my way.

I can't believe it! I'll be seven years old tomorrow! My oh my does time go by fast! Bail will be eight years old in April and Sampy will be sweet 16 that month! Landy will be six in September, and of course Joss is almost seven months old! She's bigger than Landy now!

Also, my ear is doing nicely now. Fur has grown over a very small keloid. More fur needs to grow back and then I don't think that lump will show at all.

Lastly, Mommy got a new camera. It's one of those Nikon Cool Pix S590's. It takes good pics too. Me, of course, have been very camera shy and walked away when she tried to take my pic. She did get two shots while I was eating my special dry food.

Well, that's it. Sorry we haven't been around too much.

All the Catmas celebrations are over with until next year. Likewise for Mommy's birthday. She told me it's 'back to reality" when all the festivities are over with and the grind of the 9 to 5 world is back.

Anyway, on a different note, I thank the Diary Gal for honoring me as one of the Diary Picks today. This is the second time that my "Catmas Story" got picked for the top five diaries. Woo-Hoo!

I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. MILO - cool comment;
3. HENRY - cool comment;
4. TYSON - cool snowman.

Also, I noticed that our good angel friend Buddie is sharing the limelight with me today! Concats, Buddie!

Lastly, while Auntie Mary was here yesterday, I was scared again and stayed under the coffee table the whole time. Joss was a bit skittish, and only sniffed Auntie Mary's hand once (Mommy told me this).

Well, that's about it. I hope everyone had a pawsome Catmas!

Again, another year has gone by and it's Mommy's birthday again today. So, keeping in tradition, here's a story I wrote for her when I was a young boycat:

A CATMAS PAWTY by Merlin, the Panther Boy

On Catmas eve, I went to bed early. Later that night, I woke up at the stroke of midnight from a deep sleep by the sounds of loud piano music, drums, and a trumpet. Catmas carols were being sung in our native tongue: meows, howls, breeps and chirps.

I got up from Mommy's bed where I always sleep every night. I walked slowly down the hall toward the computer room. The door was open slightly. I found this to be very odd as Mommy always had this door closed to keep my brothers and I out. I peeked through the crack of the door and saw, to my amazement, all of Mommy's cat figurines had come to life, jumped out of the glass display cabinet and were pawtying! Portia-Lynne was playing the piano while her husband Sir Ramic blew on the horn! Their three little ones, China, Cyrstal and Blenko sat atop the piano and sang in their beautiful high-pitched breeps. Some of the kitty figurines of unknown names were dancing as Portia-Lynne and her husband played Jingle Bell Rock. Others stood and talked while they drank varying Catnip type drinks: Catip Sunrises, Catnip Ladies, Catnip Cape Codders (Catnip with cranberry juice).

A Catmas tree, stood tall behind the piano and perched in the top of the tree was the Cheshire Cat grinning and swishing his large plumed tail!

I wanted to pawty with them and the thought of meeting a girl went through my head. I decided it would not be a good idea to enter the room as there was magical spell in here on this Catmas Eve. All the kitties were not real and if I joined in, I would become like them after the party ended and would have to spend the whole year on the shelf with them as a figurine.

I value my life too much. I love my Mommy and brothers and sister and I'd miss them and they'd miss me. Because of this, I decided to watch the pawtiers from a distance. They were all too drunk on catnip drinks and they never noticed me watching them.

Eventually, I returned to my bed and didn't wake up until the Catmas morning sunlight poked through the bedroom window blinds.

The dream was still very alive in my head and out of curiosity, I went into the computer room to find the following: The glass door to the display case was slightly ajar and one of the windows was open a crack, and on the floor was the figurine of Portia-Lynne wearing our Santa hat. But the strangest thing of all was the look on her face. She was smiling up at me . . . . .

The End

So, there you go. I was young and little almost seven years ago when I wrote this story. Every year, I'm bigger than the year before. I'm the biggest cat in the furmily. I was 17.7 on my last vet check when Landy pierced my left ear. In March of 2006, (when I joined Catster) I was a little guy of 2 1/2 months old. Happy Birthday Mommy. This is my present to you!

I know Santa Claws is carefully watching Landy this year especially after that ear piercing event. I think Landy should get coal in his stocking!

This morning I was in the small cat tree which Mommy got for Joss when she was a smaller kitten. Anyway, Landy walked a little bit too close for comfort so I bopped him in the britches. MOL!!!

Of course, Mommy was there to make sure neither of us got into it again. We didn't. Landy walked away.

Also, my ear has healed up (it's not red) but there's a small lump on it. Mommy thinks it's something called a "keloid" (sp?). Those are lumps that form sometimes after piercings. It's not hurting. Mommy's waiting to see if my fur grows back on it and then it'll be covered. If it doesn't she'll check with the vet.

Lastly, I too extend my concats to Joss on her famous weekend.
