For years now, I have been friends with a wonderful kitty named Wally. He came to the Bridge 10 months after me, and I met him the day he crossed over. We became great pals right away.
Recently, Wally asked me to be his DATE for the black tie dance for Simba's birthday. He sent me a corsage and everything! The party was GRAND! I danced and danced with Wally. He is such a gentleman!
Recently, Wally's earth brother, Wallingford, was sick and Wally and I were really scared. We held hands and hugged and purred and prayed for Wallingford. We even visited him together when he had to spend the night at the v*e*t. And Wallingford saw us, and he got better! We are so excited. We did backflips in joy.
Now we've adopted a fish together. She lives on Wally's page, and her name is Angelina. She's very cute!
I'm in love! Wally Angel is his name!

32 years ago, my dad came home and put his tie around my neck. Mom took my picture. Now, 32 years later, I am in the "Babes in Blue" contest, wearing that very tie!
How else could that have happened if not for Catster? That's what I love about Catster. Don't you LOVE Catster??!??!?!?

What a week! On Monday we awoke to find that I had been selected Cat of the Day! What a thrill!! Everyone was very kind and thoughtful and showered me with treats and gifts.
On Tuesday, we commemorated my 11 year anniversary at the Bridge. We had a lovely party with tuna and cream cheese cake. All in all, it was the highest of highs and memory of the lowest of lows.
The best part was having so many friends with whom to share both ends of the emotional spectrum. Mom loves Catster, and all her new catster friends.
What did we do before Catster, to celebrate our special relationships? Only another catster would understand the special bonds of loving a vibrating, furry, meowing pal. Through Catster, we meet ourselves. We share triumphs and heartache. And we help each other go on.
Thank you, Catster!!!

Mom woke up this morning to find that I, yes I, am Catster's Cat of the Day!!! I am amazed and more honored than anyone can imagine. Tomorrow is the 11th anniversary of my passing to the Bridge. It seems like such a perfect day to be COTD!
Mom is thrilled beyond compare, because she knows that other people besides her know me. She loves me so much, it is hard for her to think that nobody else will ever know me. (She thinks I am very special.) But now, lots of people know who I am and I think they love me, too!
Thanks, Catster!!

I have been chosen the Black and White Ankle Biter of the Week!! It's been a long time since I've actually bitten an ankle, but I was SOOO good at it in my younger years. I set a very high standard in that CATegory before I settled into being a sedate senior. It is a real honor, and confirms my Mom's initial impression that I BELONG in this great group! Thanks to all who voted for me.
Love, Boomer

I got Boomer (Boomer Laverne) as a tiny kitten, after seeing her streak across the living room of a Humane Society foster home. I named her Boomer because I thought it was a funny name, and not nearly so popular in 1972 as it is now. I added Laverne when nobody believed she was a girl. I thought she was beautiful.
What a maniac she was! I once raced her to the vet because she came lunging at me and I was afraid I had kicked her in the eye. (She was fine) She would fly around the corner and jump as high as she could, grab the door jamb and then slide down. She would go flying thru the house, out onto the (3rd floor) balcony railing and grab on, going about 50MPH. I was terrified she would just keep on flying, over the edge and gone. But she had dead-on distance and velocity judgement, and never missed a jump.
As she got older, I kind of forgot those goofy times and got used to having an old kitty. And then she died, and years later I found Catster.
One day last week, I was looking at some pretty black and white kitty's page and found out about "Black and White Ankle Biters". And I signed her up, because it was clearly HER group. And it helped me remember those times when she wasn't so old that playing meant napping alongside her favorite toy.
I got her 34 years ago, and she has been gone 10 years. I remember parts of her life as clearly as if they occurred yesterday. I'm crying now because parts of it are so vivid. But it's good, too.
Enjoy them while you have them. And remember, Boomer can serve as an absolute reminder that, even when they pass over the Bridge, they are with you forever.

The first thing I did when I got my first apartment way back in 1972 was to get a pet. I lived in Chicago, and didn't want to walk a dog in the cold, so I got a cat. It died within days, of distemper. Then I found Boomer. It was love at first sight for me; I thought she was beautiful! She was my first pet. I was 22 years old. We went into the Navy together, and moved to California together, and moved to Hawaii together. I told her we were going to move again, back to the mainland, but she had had enough. One morning, she died quietly in my arms. She was 23.5 years old. I was 45. She had been my pet my whole adult life!
She was really a queenly old thing. I learned alot from Boomer, but the most important thing is to enjoy them while you have them. To others with elderly pets I would repeat something my vet told me when Boomie was 16. "Don't expect anything of her; then, if she does something, it will be a bonus." So I let Boomer retire. She didn't play, but she was very happy and full of purrs and licks and contentment. And I got to have her for 7 more years. This is a special Tail of Devotion
