It's Sunday again and Mommy didn't comb me nor put any yucky stuff on my neck! Whew!!! At least so far . . .
She did bring out that howling monster from it's lair this morning and had it suck up all the loose floof that was on the downstairs carpets. Yep, Mommy had a cleaning spree this morning and also she cleaned up our food courts and started up the Drinkwell. Sampy and Landy will be glad to see that as they're the only ones brave enough to use it.
Also, around midnight, there were two very loud pops outside. The first pop, made our power go off and back on. The second one made the power stay off for two whole hours. Let's give a five paws to Pepco for getting our power back on quickly. Before that, we had to wait much longer.
We don't know why this happened as there was no big T-storm and not a lot of wind either. Of course, there was some heavy rain which didn't last long, though. Maybe a couple of lines were weakened by that derecho we had last month.
Anyway, we got cooler temps and a windows open day. It's not as humid either which is a plus!
I hope everycat is having a pawsome weekend!
Purrs & Breeps,
P.S. Mommy did a photo shoot of me with her Iphone camera. Unfortunately, those pics came out blurry. Her phone takes lovely outdoors pics and videos, but indoors, she's not too happy with the results.

There is one thing I hate worse than getting my tummy combed for mats and that's getting the flea stuff put at the back of my neck!!! That scares me to no end and I was hissed at mommy for the whole day yesterday after she tried to put some of that stuff on me (oh yes, a Sunday again!). I was in the lower bunk of the dining room cat tree when she made her move. I felt the wet stuff come out and I bolted out of the cat tree and hid.
Mommy thinks most of the stuff fell off me and into the cat tree because she never saw any wet patch on my neck. She says she's going to check for fleas tonight and if there are some she'll try again . . .
I think I'm going to hide!!! I did that a lot yesterday too after the horrific episode. Whenever she came toward me I ran. Yes, I was very skittish toward her yesterday.
Today, I'm better though.
Well, that's it for now. Got to run.

I wish there was a way I could hide those grooming combs Mommy uses to get out the mats in my floof! Yep, it's Sunday again and she managed to pick me up and get rid of that last mat on my chest. Of course, it took some time because I kept squirming and giving her meows of protest!
I HATE it when she has to comb the underneath parts of me!!!!
I'm glad it's over with now. I spent some time laying in the open bedroom window watching the birds and feeling the non-hot breezes on me.
Today is a cooler day and it's not 80 degrees yet. I LOVE IT and will enjoy this until the heat comes back tomorrow.
Also, a little later I decided to spring on Merl as he was in my way while I was playing with the cat nip cigar. Yep, the nip made me do it!!!
Well, I'm going to sign off . . .

It's Furday again! Thank goodness it's furday! It's still hot and nasty though. On Wednesday evening when Mommy came home from work, she let us have open windows as it wasn't that hot and humid. Believe me, us kitties took advantage of this!
As to mommy's the barbecue last Sunday, there was no salmon nor chicken. They had hamburgers (which I never had before so I don't know if were yucky or not). I heard a lot of cats and dogs like the beef they are made of. They also had potato salad, corn on the cob (Landy likes this), beans, green salad, tomatoes, chips, and key lime pie for desert.
Mommy had a good time and enjoyed seeing her Dad, brothers and sister-in-laws.
Well, that's about it.

Great news! Mommy's Dad is in town from Durango, CO and staying at her step-brother's place in the outskirts of Baltimore. The barbeque starts at 6:00 p.m. today so Mommy is going to meet her full brother and they're going to GPS it to the barbeque (neither of them know how to get there).
Anyway, Mommy will let us kitties know what yummy stuff they had at the barbeque. I hope she can bring home some chicken and/or salmon if they have it there.
So, I'm going to keep it short as Mommy has to grab a small lunch and gas up her car.

I got a couple of questions:
1. Why do I have to log in twice when I use the computer
with Firefox and don't have to when I use Apple
iPhone 3G?
2. Is the IPhone smarter than our Emachine
computer with Windows 7 in it?
3. Why does Mommy have to groom me on Sundays?
doesn't she know that there are many other things
I'd rather be doing?
Anyway, I'm glad she got rid of the mats on my tummy!
Still, I hate being groomed there! It's no fun at all! And do you know what she said to this?
"If you were still a show cat, I be grooming you more because judges don't like mats!"
Well, that's it. Glad I'm not a show cat for now.
Have a pawsome Sunday, my friends! I hope you don't have your mommies grooming you for mats!

Today is a purrfect day with low humidity and temps under 90 degrees! The windows are open and the fans are on! I say, I'll enjoy all this while I can because the nasty, dog days will be back again this weekend. Why oh why is every weekend hot, sticky and humid? I can't wait under early October, believe me!
As to everything else, I'm doing great and still eating Sampy's special food. Sometimes, I only eat a few bites and other times, I clean the dish! This still is the best wet food I've ever tasted!
Lastly, Cam was very brave last night and slept on the rug next to Mommy's bed for three whole hours. She was lucky Landy was sleeping during that time; if he was awake, he would have chased her back into the bathroom. I feel for her a lot of times as he is too aggressive with her. She's right that he's the family bully.
He doesn't bully me though, nor Merl. He wrestles with Sampy, and Sampy stands his ground by returning Landy's swats and bunny kicks.
Well, I got to go now as Mommy has to get ready for work.
Purrs & Breeps & enjoy today's weather if you live in our area.

Since I wrote a long and educational diary yesterday, today's is short and yummy!
We had a chicken pawty around 3:00 p.m. today! WOWZA! This was the first time in a long time! I'm so glad Mommy decided to throw this pawty!
And that's about it!
Purrs & Breeps for a happy weekend

Mommy was curious if the storm we had on Friday night had a name so she googled one of the weather channels. She thought it was Wendigo (a Canadian wind demon)mentioned in a Stephen King novel. Read on . . .
"Well, the word, Derecho, is a Spanish term. Derecho, as an adverb, means straight, upright, directly. As an adjective, derecho, means right. This pretty much sums up the event right here. Derecho's are long lived, widespread, straight line wind storms. Typically, thunderstorm complexes travel from left to right, so ergo -- the name, derecho. It all makes sense.
The term originated from Dr. Gustavus Hinrichs in 1888. Hinrichs wrote a paper for the American Meteorological Journal that described the phenomenon of a derecho that crossed Iowa on July 31, 1877. Derecho's aren't very common in the D.C. area.
These storms often cause widespread wind damage and can even result in fatalities. Unfortunately, the D.C. derecho of 2012 will go in the record books because of its huge impact on the D.C. area."
So, this howling windbag that hit our area on Friday, June 29, 2012 is called a Derecho. None of us ever knew that except it packed a nasty punch in the D.C. area. We got lucky as only the red bud tree cracked three limbs, two of which fell on the front porch and almost came through glass of front door. The third one was hanging low and ready to snap off, so it was also removed by our neighbor and his friend.
The cleanup around the neighborhood took place yesterday. Mommy saw four big trees that had crashed into two college dorms and two houses; one which is a block away from us. The other tree was laying in the middle of the road several blocks away.
WE WERE LUCKY THAT THE BIG OAK DIDN'T COME DOWN ON OUR ROOF! IT'S ROOTS MUST BE PRETTY STRONG TO MAKE IT THROUGH ISOBEL, IRENE AND THE DERECHO!
We hope and pray that no more Derechos hit around here or anywhere as a matter of fact. It was a very scary experience that had us kitties running for cover downstairs!
Well, as to now, all's quite but extremely hot. They're calling for T-storms and they've been predicting them all week. None happened since the Derecho. I not in the mood to experience anymore storms of any kind!
Tonight, there will be fireworks on the Maryland U campus grounds. Mommy doesn't think she'll go as it's 97 degrees out now and she doesn't take well to that much heat. We can hear them from the house anyway and she tells me that she can see the higher rising ones from the computer room window.
I hope everycat is having a pawsome 4th of July and purrlease be safe too!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Mommy knows just how to ruin a cats' weekend!!! First of all, she gave me the dreaded nail trim; of course, she deserved my special bunny kicks, and I made sure I gave her several of those. She then combed my tummy which is an "off limits" area on my body. She managed to get some of those mats which she said existed. Then to top it all off, she put that flea stuff on the base of my neck! That I didn't like because I remember licking it off Sampy's neck one time and I was foaming at the mouth and burping like crazy. Mommy called the vet and they told her it would pass and the stuff wouldn't hurt me. Of course, it did pass, but still the traumatic memory haunts me!
Point Blank, she blew off my whole Saturday. I didn't want her near me even for a chicken pawty, if she were to offer one. I cowered whenever she came near me.
Also, Friday was scary because of the destructive t-storm which Merl will go into detail about. I don't want to "steal his story".
Today, I'm not hissed at Mommy anymore except she used the vacuum cleaner upstairs for a little bit. I hope she doesn't do the downstairs!
Well, that's it, everycat. I hope your weekends are better than mine.
Purrs & Breeps,
Bail
