HANGING AROUND MOMMY ON VALENTINE'S DAY

February 14th 2014 5:10 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

First of all, Happy Valentine's Day everycat!

Secondly, we are soooooo happy that Catster is staying around. We're a tight community and we fought for our site. We love Catster!

Third, since Mommy doesn't have a husband or boyfriend, we're all keeping her company on this Valentine's Day. She gets a bit lonely then so we're trying our best to comfort her.

We also sent out a few roses and candies but unfortunately, the gift shop locked up on us. Maybe the IPad has a harder time loading up a bunch of gifts. Oh we'll, we did send some out to our corral members. I hope they got them.

Well, that's about it from me. I'm tired.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

THIS OLD MAN FEELS BETTER!

February 3rd 2014 3:29 am
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

I'm feeling much better today health wise and am honored in getting one of the Diary Picks today.

A few days ago, I was refusing to eat. It turned that I was getting sick of Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys. Yep, all of a sudden, it didn't taste good and smelled bland. Mommy gave me some Tiki Cat tuna and salmon/ chicken! I gobbled it up! She also got some Purina One shredded chicken and put a small amount of Tiki Cat tuna in the center and I gobbled that up too.

She thinks the painkillers have reduced my appetite. She told me that when she was on painkillers for her knee surgery and recuperation thereafter that a lot of food tasted bland. Fruits, sweets, cereal and roast beef were the only things that tasted good to her. Everything else had no flavor.

I think she's right here. Also, last night and this morning I was eating my dry food. Apparently, that has a strong smell and doesn't taste bland.

Anyway, I thank the Diary Gal for honoring me today.

I also thank my pawsome friends for their gifts and concats:

1. PAISAN - cool comment and Power of the Paw;
2. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail & lovely blue healing rosette;
3. PLATELICKER - cool comment;
4. ZEKE- cool comment;
5. ELSA - pretty heart;
6. FRISKIE, HOMER & Family - power of the Paw.

Lastly, we had a warm sunny weekend. Today is a rainy Monday. The temps are supposed to drop, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to make it snow.

Well, I must go now as breakfast will be served soon.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

A QUICK NOTE FROM THE OLD MAN CAT OF THE HOUSE

I'm doing pretty good except my tooth is still tender so I'm to remain on the painkillers until further notice. Mommy was also given some ointment to put in my right eye. I really hate all this medication that I'm getting! All in all, I have not had any falling episodes since this summer, and that's good!

Lastly, I'm so sad that Catster's folding. We're all taking it hard along with Mommy.

I plan on writing a few more diaries until March 3rd. We keep wishing that somebody rescues our beloved Catster. Some of us have been here since 2006.

Well, I must run now. Have a pawsome day.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

UPDATE ON MY EAR

January 2nd 2014 4:11 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 2 people already have ]

As of tonight, my left ear looks pretty good. The inside has a very small pinprick hole with a scab on it and the outer part has a bigger hole which isn't swollen and has a scab on it too. The piercing I received wasn't as bad as the one Merl received. Lucky for me and lucky for Mommy as going to the vet would cost a lot for antibiotic meds and ointment.

Lastly, we got snow right now and it's sticking to the grass. This is supposed to go on for several hours. Mommy hopes it doesn't stick to the roads as she has a doctor's visit tomorrow morning.

Well, that's about it. I think I'll take a nap on the arm of the big red couch.

Goodnight & Purrs & Breeps,

Bail

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I don't believe this. I almost finished a diary and it disappeared! Fleas, of course, don't go away even on Christmas eve!

Also, Santa Paws will be cruising Calvert Hills some time around 8:00 p.m. tonight. Around here, he rides in a fire engine and not in a flying sleigh.

Also, we had unseasonably warm temps on Friday and the weekend. On Saturday it got up to 72 degrees! It felt like springtime. Everyone was loving it! Now, Old Man Winter is back with a howling wind and 37 degrees with an expected low of 30 tonight. Bundle up, my friends and also cuddle!

Also, I thank my friends who have sent some Christmas trees to us. We'll try to do that too.

Lastly, I wish everycat and their parents a very safe and Merry Christmas!

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

P.S. Enjoy the Christmas Cuddle Bros pic!

CONCATS, LITTLE SIS!

My oh my, Joss has done it again with being in the Diary Limelight. Concats, Joss!

Also, Mommy has a vet appointment scheduled for me on Saturday so they can look at my tooth to see if I need another anti-biotic shot. I'm feeling pretty good as I let Mommy medicate me without yelping or running away. She even told me that the painkiller dose has been reduced a little bit. The vet will also tell her when to take me off the painkillers. She also has a concern as to why I'm shedding a lot (I have bald spots on both sides of my neck. Perhaps, I need more than one Tapazole a day. We shall see. Wish me luck.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

P.s. I all so thank everyone who has given me Power of the Paws and purrs.

THE CARDIOLOGIST'S ASSESSMENT

December 1st 2013 4:38 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

Mommy received in the mail yesterday, the cardiologist's "Assessment" Here goes:

"Sampson has a history of restrictive cardiomyopathy with pericardial effusion and collapsing episodes prompting the previous visit. With the decrease in Sotalol dose to 10 mg twice daily from 20 mg every 12 hours, Sampson's sinus bradycardia has resolved. The heart appears essentially unchanged from prior visit with only a minimal amount of pericardial effusion present. His decreased appetite is concerning as well as his weight loss. It may represent progressive cardiac cachexia, progressive renal disease, uncontrolled thyroid levels, or be secondary to decreased appetite from the tooth abscess. It will be important to monitor his weight and appetite and recheck labwork (Chem, T4) at his C.P. Animal Hospital. Although he is a poor candidate for anesthesia, if his appetite does not improve and is a result of the tooth pain, a consultation with a veterinary dentist is advised. They may be able to take out the tooth with minimal anesthesia and/or local blocks."

I'm supposed to get rechecked at the cardiologist's 3-6 months or sooner if I have any weakness or collapses. I'm also to get my blood checked if my appetite remains decreased.

Anyway, I'm doing pretty good now. Today, I ate some dry food and loved the gravy off the tuna that Landy mentioned. Mommy has slightly decreased the painkiller dose too. The vet wants her to gradually do this but not to discontinue it until my blood work is checked out to see if the infection in my tooth is gone.

Wish me luck and purrs are appreciated so I can continue feeling better.

I know my time is not long and no one knows when I'll be called to the Bridge. Only God knows that. In the meantime, I'm taking it one day at a time and enjoying being around Mommy and my lovely new sister and my cuddle buddy, Landy and of course Bail and Merl.

Well, that's it for now. It's medication time for me.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING DIARY PICK!

November 29th 2013 6:27 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

Wow! I got honored on the day after a thanksgiving for my diary the day before. Thank you so much, Diary Gal!

I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats as follows:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. SMILEY CASSANOVA - cool comment;
3. PLATELICKER - pretty blue rosette.

Also, us kitties (me, Landy & Bail) got to enjoy some chicken parts such as the liver and heart. Boy oh boy was that ever yummy! Poor Joss and Merl were hiding under the couch the whole time Auntie Mary was here so they missed out on these goodies. I don't know why those two are so shy and skiitesh around anyone who visits Mommy.

Anyway, we still have cold weather and Landy's still keeping me warm.

Lastly, I feel pretty good and I'm still taking my meds without any problems.

That's it for now. Have a great Friday night my friends!

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

THANKSGIVING

November 26th 2013 11:10 am
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!! My time does fly when you get older!

Auntie Mary will be coming by on that day with food; cornish hens, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, stuffing, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. After the food is prepared, Auntie Mary and Mommy will take the food to Mary's Dad's place where the three of them will have Thanksgiving dinner. Any leftovers will be brought back later that evening. I'm looking for some chicken and whipped cream (not together though). It's just that I love those two yummy items. I'm sure my sibs will go for the chicken.

Anyway, I'm doing okay and Landy's still being my nurse. It's like he's glued to me. It's nice as he keeps me warm because I'm cold a lot due to my bald chest (shaving from last month's cardiologist visit).

Got to go now

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

WHAT A DAY!

November 25th 2013 10:09 am
[ Leave A Comment | 2 people already have ]

As everycat knows, I had my cardiologist visit today. First of all, my regular cardiologist wasn't there. It was a woman this time. Both Mommy and I prefer the man as he was nicer to talk to even though he shaved me.

All in all, I still don't like being held down while they clamp those wires to my chest. The tech had to put an e-collar on me, and guess what I did? I bit into it as I was really hissed off. I'm glad this whole visit is over with and i'm back home in my bed with Landy.

My heart beat is 140 which is good. Mommy was told to keep me on the reduced sotalol. They also found that there was a small amount of fluid around my heart. The cardiologist then told Mommy that I was in heart failure. She asked her how long I had and she couldn't predict that.

It's so sad getting old and have to deal with all these awful diseases. Mommy feels the same way as she got the blood work results for her kidney function, and it's not good. The doctor wants to refer her to a nephrologist. Mommy cried and is quite shaken up over this bad news along with my health issues. When mommy hears stuff like this she freaks out and worries constantly.

Lastly, I thank Gleek and Platelicker for their concerned comments. It means a lot to me and Mommy.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy
