I read a post on facebook from a friend about Spay Day USA. It said that she wished she had as much money as Oprah and could say and you get a spay and you get a neuter and you and you and you. Wouldn't it be nice if all animals were wanted and none were abused. If shelters were put out of business because there was no need for them. If no one bought animals from backyard breeders or puppy mills. This day can come but not without all of us getting involved. Don't complain and post negative things about the shelters in your community. Get involved. If you think that things aren't being done right. . .volunteer to help or fundraise so that the shelter can have the money to put things right. Don't just complain and try to point out what is wrong. Praise the positive and try to point out what is right. If you say you are an advocat and only say negative things how will that motivate people to go into a shelter and adopt. Most of all adopt yourself!! Donate money!! Complaining and negativity never helped any one or anything.

Wow!!

We started 2010 with the most adoptions ever in a January. We ended 2010 with the least adoptions ever in a December. We have many wonderful animals waiting for homes. Many people adopted in December from other shelters & rescue groups in our area and for that we are glad. We are wishing that more of them would have adopted from the Yolo County SPCA. So to help please join with us on the Power of purr to purr for rescues and forever homes. Remember with our purrs we can move hearts and souls.

I have many wishes for 2011! I wish that the clinics for community cats would run out of cats to alter because they all would have been done. I wish that for every adoptable animal the perfect home comes forward. I wish that cruelty to animals is recognized as the horrible crime and punished appropriately.

I wish many things and dream that some of them will come true in 2011!

Now off to post on Power of purrs for rescues and adoptions! Join me

Please help us find homes for all of the animals in our care. Our goal is to put ourselves out of business. We want to encourage spay & neuter so that there are no unwanted animals born. We encourage tnr of community cats. If there are communtiy cats in your area you have rodent control for the cost of cat food and care. What a good deal that is!! We want to vaccinate and if your community requires it license all pets. Microchip your furry family, too. The recent news of a kitty coming home after 5 years should encourage you even more. Join with my family to purr for rescues and forever homes on the Power of purr forum. Adoptions are down and appeals for help are increasing. If you can support your local rescue with funds. Help us help the animals in your community! Remember national groups are good but to really make an impact in YOUR community give locally.

rescue rant

I often appeal to all of my Catster friends and readers for virtual support by thinking good thoughts for adoptions and rescues. And I am doing it again. Kitten season seems to be longer every year. People seem to be giving up more cats for various reasons as well. Many times it is because the cats have become inconvenient for them. Oh they say it is for the good of the cat because 'they don't have time' but what they are saying is that the cat has become inconvenient for them and they want to make thier life easier. GRRRR! I am appealing to anyone who reads this to join with my family & purr long and loud for rescues and forever homes on the Power of purr in the rescue forum. Adopt don't shop!!

Appeals for help are rising and continuing. Adoptions are not. Please send good thoughts for adoptions to all rescue groups who are rescueing animals. We need the positive thoughts to help us with adoptions. Everytime Catsters purr for rescues and forever homes we have adoptions. If I don't ask and my family doesn't purr sometimes our adoptions are slower. Help us help the animals in our communities. I am going to purr now on the Power of purr in the rescue forum. Join with me please!!

Saturdays are our placment adoption events for the Yolo County SPCA. We work so hard to rescue as many as we can but somehow it just seems like the appeals will never end. Here is it November and we are still getting appeals from people who found kittens!! Guess global warming has affected the cats. Please join with us on the Power of purr in the rescue forums to purr for rescues and forever homes. If you are looking for a new furry friend, please check out the rescue groups and shelters in your area. Adopt don't shop!! Please spay & neuter your pets. Kittens and puppies afer cute but what are you going to do with them? They need homes, too. Please support the efforts of the wonderful caring people who help the feral cats. Many of these cats were once owned and now abandoned. Purring long and loud for rescues and forever homes!! I almost forgot if you can please donate! Money, time, food it all helps!

Today I am thinking about all of the animals that are in need. In need of homes, in need of altering, in need of food and in need of affection and love. It is a proven scientifitic fact that animals keep you healthier. Cats prevent strokes. Dogs help people loose weight. Loving and animal helps you to love yourself and other people. So how much better you would feel if you rescued and saved one from a shelter? Or adopted one from a rescue group? Support your local shelters and your local rescue groups. Adopt don't shop!! Love is waiting for you at the placment events of rescue groups and at your local shelter.

We had 2 adoptions last week but many many appeals. We need more adoptions so that we can rescue more. Winter is coming and those of us who are volunteering at feral cat clinics are coming home from our shift with kittens because they are too young to be altered and are young enough to tame so we get more that way. We have had more that one person contact us to help them with kittens found by their dogs. Including one 3 week old kitten rescued by a chihuahua!!

Donations are down and costs are up. Help your local rescue group if you can with money, supplies, and positive thoughts. Tell them that they are doing a good job!

Join with my family to purr for rescues and forever homes on the Power of purr in the rescue forum. Help us help all we can!!
