We are back!

Hi everyone! I hate when mom goes away because I miss so much with my Catster friend. Mom didn't have too much time to check Catster for me while she was gone. She just got home and me and LuLu are so happy. I am purrrring and purrrrrring. We are all about to snuggle up and take a nap.

Thank you all so much for all the lovely birthday wishes, gifts, etc.. I will be sending out all my thank you's as soon as mom gets a bit of rest. I would also like to thank you all for the kind words on mom loosing her grandmother. It really means a lot.

There were birthday presents waiting for me when I got home. I will be taking photos and writing about those soon. I am SOOOOO excited for them all and can't wait to share with you.

Postponing my birthday

Hi pals. I am so excited that my birthday is tomorrow. I am going to be 6 years old. Woo Hoo! Does this mean I am a middle aged cat now? Mom still treats me like a baby, I like that.

The bad news is that we have to postpone my birthday celebration. Last night mom's grandmother passed away so she is leaving tomorrow morning for New Mexico. Mom said they all knew it was coming but it is still sad. She lived independently until 3 months ago when she got sick. She was 93 years old.

Grandma Ramona came to see me twice in my six years. She wasn't a real "cat person" but she always would pet me and say nice things to me. She knew how important me and LuLu are to mom. Whenever mom talked to grandma on the phone she would ask about us, by name. She was a lovely woman and we will miss her.

Sorry if we won't be around much this next week. Mom is going to take her laptop so we can check in. There is so much happening and we need to keep up with it all. We are purrrrrrring for all our friends who need it right now and will continue to do so while she is gone.

A DDP interruption

My dear friend Calvin has cancer. We are so sad to hear this news. Mom has been crying with us. Calvin is one of our best friends and we love his family. We are purrrring our hearts our for him and his family.

Me and LuLu are all about loving and purrring for Calvin.

Tonight we are sending as many purrrrrrs as we can down to Kentucky for my dear friend Calvin. He is not eating and listless. He is at the kitty hospital and has to stay overnight to get some fluids. We know his mom and dad are very worried.

Mysterious package

Last night when mom came home from work there were two packages waiting on the front steps. The first was our new cat food container from Purina Cat Chow Connected for the Cause. Purina is donating money to breast cancer research from the sale of the containers. Best of all.....the container is pink!! The other package is a mystery. It is from Kentucky and has written all over it "Diego, don't open until your birthday." What do you suppose it is? I hate that I have to wait 3 weeks to find out. I smelled it last night and it smells good so I rubbed my face all over the box.

Lots going on

The biggest news is that I caught a mouse! It was time for me to come in and mom found me sitting in the middle of the yard which is strange for me. As she got closer she saw that I was playing with a mouse. She yelled and we had a really fun game of chase before she had to get the hose out to get me away from my new toy. Sheesh!!

Later that night the hunting continued in mom's bedroom. LuLu caught a BIG moth on the screened porch and brought it inside for us to play with. We both talked to it, jumped and ran all over the place. Once I caught it I put it in the best place possible, mom's shoes. MOL

On another note, mom found out about an awesome job yesterday and is so excited. It is a job as a project manager for a new cat spay/neuter program put together by our local animal shelter alliance. It is the perfect job for her. She would be officially working for the Humane Society where she volunteers now. Her friend is coming over this afternoon to help spiff up her resume and create a great letter expressing mom's excitement for the project. Paws crossed!!!

I was a bad kitty

Tee Hee! Sometimes a cat just has to be naughty right?? Mom was home all day yesterday and today because she has strep throat. Hopefully she will be home a couple more day. We are also having a heat wave so by the time evening came and it was cool, I was anxious to get outside to make my patrol. I helped mom water the plants. She said they have to get watered if she is sick or not so I stuck around to make sure she didn't pass out or anything. I am good like that.

About 8:00pm Catcher Block strolled up so mom sat on the front step and pet him while he ate. I stood about 3 feet away watching carefully. When he left mom went inside to clean the bowls and such. She came back out to get me because it was time to go in. I was no where to be found. She called and called and checked all my hiding spots but nope. Sometimes I hang out behind the neighbors tool shed so she went back there to see. I wasn't there but I was close. I cried to say hello and she saw me even though it was almost dark. Somehow I got underneath our neighbors 10ft tall chain length fence. I haven't done that since I was little and not quite as full figured as I am now. I said hello but wouldn't come when mom found a spot and lifted the fence. Their whole yard is fenced in so I thought I would take a little tour around and check it out. Then I stood about 5 feet away from the fence and just looked at mom. Ha!!! There she is all fevery and calling me even though she can hardly talk. I wouldn't even come for treats. So at 9:20 mom decided to drive to the next street and ask the neighbor if she could come in their backyard to get me. This is a neighbor she has never met and mom is in her jammies. MOL!!!! I made her chase me around the yard for a while but she finally got me and made me drive home again. Needless to say I didn't get any night time treats.

Later I felt bad for putting mom through all that so I stayed with her all night because she couldn't sleep. I would purrrrrrr and purrrrrr. They were healing purrrs you see. She said they haven't worked yet but we have to keep trying.

That is my naughty tale for the day. Mom is going to make sure my newly found crawl space is blocked off. Now I am off to sleep under the window ac unit. It's hot!!

OMC! I am so excited. A couple of weeks ago mom ordered a couple of prints from Cathy Peng on her Etsy site. Mom had ordered a T-shirt in the past and loves her art. If you like cute things you should check her out.

Well, they came today!! They are even better in person. I put a photo of them as the second photo on my page.

Thanks to all my friends for reminding me that today is National Homeless Animals Day. Today we should all be hugged a little bit more and then think of all the pets out there that don't have a good home. Check out your local animal shelters and rescues and see how you can help. Donate money, old towels, food, your time?

What a great day!

Today has been a pretty nice day. I spent the morning watching the neighbors from my window perch and the afternoon in the purple guest room on the big bed. Mom found me there when she came home and had not realized that this is a new favorite sleeping spot of mine. What tipped her off was the black fur all over the bedspread and pillows. Tee hee. I did it on purpose, how else are other kitties to know to stay out of my purple room.

Another reason today is a great day is that Samoa answered my question submitted to her new advice column, What Would Samoa Say?. I new the diva herself would know all the answers. She confirmed my Divo-ness. Yes, I am a dapper Divo dude! Loud and proud. Mom says I am "Metro" whatever that means. I like Divo better. Oh, guess what I saw mom looking at? A cute hand felted pink kitty beret. I hope she gets it for me. I can wear it for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

The other fantastic thing that happened today is that my friend the beautiful Pansy, made fun and cool new pages for me and my sister LuLu. Mine is all Tiki themed. Anyone want a Pina Catlota? Thank you Pansy for the super pages. I will try not to push anymore heat in your direction.
