I am a Southern cat,
so I have never seen
the grass when it's not
some kind of shade of green.
But yesterday the ground
had a white-ish glow.
My cat-mom said,
oh my goodness, it's snow!
She said the stuff is cold,
and soft and flaky wet.
Since I'm an indoor cat,
snow and I have never met.
She said I wouldn't like it,
it'd seep into my fur.
She said when people are out in it
they're always howling "Brrrr!"
It looked kind of tasty,
I'd like to lick some off my nose.
I'll have to try to get some
the very next time it grows!

Oh, I love the scratchies,
right there on my head.
Stop what you are doing,
and scratch me now instead.
Nothing is more like heaven,
then the itch of nice, long nails.
It's always a spirit lifter
and never, ever fails.
I may be demanding,
but surely, realize,
just how little effort
gets me to make those sighs.
Scratching is divine,
nothing pleases more.
Scratch me on the couch,
scratch me on the floor.
I wish that I could hire
a scratcher for full time.
Oh, with 24/7 scratchies,
I would feel quite fine.

*** I am sneaking into Solo's diary while she is eyeballing me so I have to make this fast.
Has anyone noticed that her cat wears pantaloons? I mean, seriously. Solo's back (for some reason, I hate the word "hind") legs look like she has bloomers on. She's super fluffy, so her legs fluff out a lot, then come to a little point at her feet. Pantaloons! Anyway, I laughed about this all day. Then I came home, where Solo had hairballed on the floor. That serves me right! ***

Rainbow rosettes, such a joy,
They make me want to scream, “Oh joy!”
I received my first bright one today,
And I really have to say,
I love them so! They are so neat,
They make me fluff out to my feet.
Such colors make me very happy,
Please pardon me for being so sappy.
And I do not try to brag,
Do not think me a big nag.
I hope that everyone understands,
If you have extra rosettes, I’ll take them off your hands!

Oh, tuna your goodness,
I know I've praised it before.
But yet I find myself swooning,
and must compliment you more.
I love to dive nose first
into your flaky tin.
After I gobble you down,
your fragrance remains on my skin.
What better perfume could be
than your fishy scent?
I look fondly back upon
all the time, together, we've spent.
I don't see you enough,
it's not my fault, I swear.
But I'm not a fishercat,
I don't get much salty sea air.
So I'll have to contend,
until you're brought home at last.
Bring it out of the grocery bag,
and open that can real fast!

What is this stringy thing?
It comes in many hues.
It's mostly always skinny
and comes in reds and blues.
I see it moving quickly,
too quick for me to pounce.
Yet when I try to chew it
it barely weighs an ounce.
She says it's for her "knitting,"
but what kind of joke is that?
When that string is around
I must know where it's at!
I follow it with my eyes
as it comes out from its ball.
Have you ever heard of such a thing?
It's the craziest thing of all.
To use a string for something
other than chasing, you see,
has got to be too silly,
at least, to me!

Wow, I haven't written,
in really way too long.
I can see the way of my errors,
I see where I went wrong.
It just always was so easy,
to stay laying in the sun.
Instead of hopping back online
and composing to everyone.
Sleeping calls my name,
it's hard not to answer back.
Isn't part of being a cat
our tendency to slack?
So please accept my apology,
and continue to be my friend.
I hope this is the start of more frequent diaries,
and surely not the end!

OK, that's really sappy,
I don't like my cat-mom unhappy.
Of course not everyone's wish,
is to stay home and snack on fish!
So, I have to let her go,
but in my head I know,
that soon she will be back,
and I'll get extra snacks!

** In anticipation of a trip, I just had to sneak into Solo's diary and post a little something myself.
Please watch over my kitty,
Keep her safe while I am gone.
Let her not even really miss me,
Let her feel cozy and warm.
It’s hard when you like to travel,
But have to leave your friend behind.
Worries make you feel like you might unravel,
They wreak havoc with your mind.
I know that she’ll be happy
Staying back at home.
It’s just me that’s getting sappy,
At the thought of her alone.
Actually, no, it’s me,
Who’ll really do the missing.
While she’s snoozing around the house,
It’s her that I’ll miss kissing.
I may be far away,
But I know that she’s protected.
And I’ll be back sooner than later,
The sadness soon corrected.
No furry friend to join me,
As I make my travel trip.
But it’s not like she’d prefer to go
Aboard a cruising ship.
No, she’ll keep the homefront,
Safe and sound with care.
And the happiest sight of all,
Coming home, and seeing her there!

He was a California cat,
I don’t know much more than that.
He came around one day,
But only two years would he stay.
His fur, a grayish blue,
Life on the streets, he knew.
It must have been hard times,
But happiness, he did find.
My uncle gave him care,
And built him a shelter there.
Rescued from the wild,
He became quite like a child.
Every day he’d sound,
Under the house he could be found.
Expressing his great need
For a new food bowl to feed!
His nose puffs were big and fluffed,
In general, he was sweetly fluffed.
He actually became tame,
Losing him, no greater shame.
His presence, it seems a sin,
Even though I never even met him!
I once sent him some toys,
Even though I really don’t like boys.
But it really did seem fair,
My uncle was happy he was there.
Now he has passed on,
We can’t believe he’s gone.
Winston, if you’re there,
We’re glad you came by to share.
