We are Secretly Admired

Many thanks to the kind Catster who gave all in my family a nice glass of the bubbly. We sure all appreciate it as it is not often we all get a gift at the same time. Especially our angel cats! It would be nice to get a clue as to who you are but even if we don't, we hope you know we think you are pretty special.

Spring Is Near

I have been noticing some signs that Spring is getting close. The biggest sign is all the birds singing. They even sing when it is snowing because they know it is almost over. They sound so pretty and I like hearing them. I am seeing a lot more sunshine and blue skies too. I love to lay in a sunbeam in the sunroom and enjoy the warmth. I never used to like that so maybe it is also a sign that I am getting older. I have also noticed it is light a lot longer now. It used to get dark before suppertime! Now I am long done and relaxing before night falls. I guess those are most of the signs of Spring for now. Soon we will have trees budding and flowers coming up through the dirt. And best of all- chipmunks and Grumpy Frog making their appearances in my yard. I hope they all had a good Winter.

My New Love

My new love is something very tasty to eat! I hope you are sitting down because I have to tell you that this is even better than Strawberry Jell-O with peaches in it!! No, I am not kidding. Probably even better than bread! It's Yoplait Strawberry Mist Whip. Oh my. I just hear my mom getting the container out and I go running to find her. I beg with the most sweet face and sad eyes that I can make. The only thing I have against this stuff is that the container it comes in is way too small. I would like a bath tub full of it to swim in with my mouth open. MOL! Well off to take a short nap and dream of being in that Strawberry Mist.

Thoughts On My Friend Scooter

My good friend Scooter has fought a brave battle with a few health problems of late. Today or possibly tomorrow she will make her journey to the Rainbow Bridge. We are all very sad at my house as Scooter was such a special friend to us. Not just to us either, but to so many on Catster. I really don't see how Catster will ever be the same without her. I am very sure that I could not have had a better friend than Scooter. I love you so much, Scootie. I hope your journey is comfortable and filled with lots of good catnip plants and plates of baby food along the way. I will always cherish my memories of you . All my love, Ethan

Turning Seven Is Fun

I sure did have a nice birthday yesterday. Many thanks to my pals for the gifts, rosies, email, ecards, real cards and pmail. I was a busy guy. MOL! You all made my birthday very special. I will thank each one of you individually as soon as I can. My mom has to hurry out today to do some stuff. Yesterday we got 10" of snow and the roads were very bad. So she did not go out. I didn't get a birthday cake either due to the snow. Luckily we had half of an apple crumb pie in the fridge and my mom put 7 candles on it! So I had a birthday pie. I didn't get any of it though as while I do like apples, this had way too much sugar and bad things for me to eat. I got some tasty cat treats though so please don't think I was deprived. MOL!! I also got a Star Chaser and love it. I have been playing with it almost constantly. One of my pals told me about it and I dropped a big hint for it for my birthday. Or so I think I did. Mine has 2 lighted balls because the one that came with it didn't light at first. My mom had ordered a spare and so used it instead. It's one of those things you hafta pull the paper out of it to get it to work. The paper tore off a bit in the one that came with the Chaser. Then my mom used a safety pin to poke around and got the paper moved and the ball worked. So now my Chaser has 2 flashing balls and makes this VERY cool to play with. Louis loves it too and we can both play with it at the same time. Oh no I see more of those snow bug flurries starting so I guess I will hafta go and let my mom get her errands done before the roads get too bad again.

It's Christmas Eve!

I am getting pretty excited now as it is almost time for Santa Claws to come see every cat. Now image that- me excited! MOL! I just hope for some good catnip and maybe a few other fun toys to occupy myself. Oddly enough it is raining here. Could be near 60 degrees in a day or so two. We've had so much snow already and it ha been very cold so this is a nice treat. Some people like snow on Christmas but my mom says giver her a palm tree with some Christmas lights on it and she'd be thrilled. MOL! Oh I wanted to update you on those mysterious cat paw prints I saw outside. Before the rain took away the snow yesterday, we had fresh paw prints across the front porch. So that sneaky cat is still prowling around my house. You know what, though? I am happy that he is still alive and well and... hopefully avoiding the traffic. With that I will close this Christmas Eve diary entry by saying Meowy Christmas to all our wonderful furriends. If you celebrate in a different way, we send good wishes to you cats too.

Mystery Paw Prints

I woke up today to see cat paw prints in the snow all over our deck! Some kitty has been sneaking around here at night while I napped. I was surprised because we see so few cats outside in my neighborhood. I think they do go out but with so much traffic and high speed traffic at that, they would have very short lives. Maybe they never quite make it to our house. This cat is doing well though to have shown up here to check out our deck. I am so curious and think I will have to take an early nap from now on so I can sit and watch to see who our mystery visitor might be. I hope he is careful and will come visit for a long time to come too.

It Was The Peacock Feathers That Enticed Me

The other day my mom was getting something out of the linen closet. I was right there like always, to be sure I didn't miss out on anything. She got what she went into the closet for and looked down to see where I was. There was no sign of me so she shut the closet door and went to do something on her computer. Pretty soon she started hearing me clawing at the door. She yelled and told me to stop. This closet is where she hides the peacock feathers so I tend to scratch at the door once it is closed in hopes of snagging part of the feather. I stopped scratching on the door for a bit then started again. She again yelled no at me but I kept on. Finally after some time she got up to come and shoo me on my way. But I wasn't there! So she opened the door and I rolled out and landed on my back. MOL! I was trapped inside the closet and frantically pushing on the door with my paws trying to get it to open. Then of course my mom felt really bad. Here she was thinking I was being me when I was actually trapped inside the closet. She said I must have really been hiding in the back of a shelf as she never saw me there. One good thing about this adventure was while I was trapped I did manage to snag that peacock feather a number of times in between pushing on the door to get out. My mom said I am always getting into trouble but she's the one who closed the door on me, right? Right??

Fall Happenings

I've been watching the chipmunks scurrying about and trying feverishly to get all the food they can to store it for their long nap this Winter. The funniest thing is when they put a big peanut in each cheek and a third in their mouth. Do they ever look silly! I guess it gets the hoarding job done a lot faster though. MOL!

The pond has pretty much been shut down by my dad. All the tropical lilies are now in the pond he sets up in our basement. They can't stay outside here or they would freeze in a hurry. The fish do stay out and so great. So I have them to watch. I have not seen Grumpy Frog or any of his ilk for some time now so I guess they have all burrowed into the ground for the cold weather. I will see them again in a few months.

My dad is always busy raking leaves and using that big machine that makes all the noise to get the leaves cleaned up. Soon we will have only bare trees left.

Well I had better get back to keeping a close eye on that chipmunk. You never know what he might get into and I have to be on guard.

Happy Birthday Scooter!

My Summer Vacation

I think this time of year is often when we write about our Summer vacation. Hmmm, I didn't really have one. It was a nice Summer though. I got to watch the demolition of our old shed and the building of our new barn. I watched the ground hog scamper around the backyard a few times. I had the chipmunk climbing up into a plant that sits right outside the sunroom door. We were eye to eye! I went crazy trying to get at him but alas and alack, had a screen door between us. I was serenaded by Grumpy Frog and his new friend. His friend is grumpy too but has a very high pitched grump sound. I think it might be Mrs Grumpy frog. I was witness to our neighbor's huge tree falling down. There was no wind or storm, it just fell over with a mighty thud. Those were probably the biggest highlights of my Summer. I had lots of little fun things going on like birdies and squirrels visiting. I even saw a hummingbird a few times right by my door. So all in all, I'd have to rate it as a pretty fun Summer. Autumn is almost here and it is by far the prettiest season of them all.
