Today is the 7th anniversary of the day I got to go home with my mom. I was one very lucky kitty I'd say. And we all lived happily ever after. :) I know that was a short story but a very happy one.

Louis

I thought today I would write about some fun that Ethan and I have been having on Catster. We have been involved in Samoa's Detective Agency to try and figure out who is sending anonymous rosettes on Catster. There are many different types as most use a graphic and we then know which case it belongs with. The rosette givers also give out clues along the way in rosettes or Shout Boxes. We have no bio fields left at present for a Shout Box but hopefully soon when we change our pages, we can find room for one. Anyway, I have solved 3 cases- The Dancing Star who was GORDY , BLT (Bacon Lovin' Tabby) that was DAISY and the Butterflykitty and that was CARBON. Ethan solved the Cheshire Cat case and that was MOUSE and The Cornish Crew. We usually aren't the first to solve the cases other than me with Gordy's but we still have fun figuring them out.

I also wanted to mention a new group that Ethan and I started. It's called Chipmunk Posse. It's for cats to be cats and enjoy all the critters outside be it chipmunks, squirrels, birds, etc. It doesn't matter if you are an indoor kitty as you can still look out the window and dream about catching or chasing them. The group is a lot of fun and is also about good friends. All are welcome and if you haven't gotten an invitation yet then please contact me for one. We tried sending them out but some had trouble with them or never got it so we kind of gave up on trying mass inviting. This way we can keep better track of who we sent to and who really wants in to begin with. All are welcome so just give us a meow.

Love,
Louis

A Green Birthday

I'm sure you are wondering how a birthday can be green. My birthday was on St Patrick's Day for one and two- all the amazing catnip I got. It's a wonder I even remember my birthday at all. MOL! But I do and it was very special thanks to all my great friends here on Catster and also those from other places on the Internet. You sure know how to make a kitty feel good about his 7th birthday. I know that isn't old really but older for sure. You won't believe what one of my gifts was.- cat stairs! Those made me feel old until my mom explained they were just to help keep my elbow feeling well. Sometimes when I climb but mostly when I jump off the big cat tree, I will limp for a bit. As some of you might remember, I had that limp for a very long time about a year ago from some mysterious injury to it. It is gone for the most part other than those occasional slip-ups of mine and my mom wants to do all she can to make things easier. The stairs are fun to just sit on and play on too. There are only two steps so just a small boost for me. I hope to have some photos up before long. But the best part of my birthday was the catnip of course. So I will just indulge in that and think of my new stairs as going to the stars rather than going into old age. Heehee!

Louis

Happy Birthday Simon

Today was my angel brother Simon's birthday. My mom seems sad today and I know she is thinking of him and remembering him. I guess he was a pretty special kitty. He had crossed the Rainbow Bridge before I was adopted so I never had the pleasure to know him. I really wish I had because I think we could have been great pals. It's a sunny day at our house and somehow seems fitting for a kitty who loved to sleep on the window sill and soak up the rays. I hope there is a big birthday bash for him at the Bridge today. It's a nice thought at least.

The Winds of Thor Are Blowin' Cold

I thought it was about time to do a diary entry. I am sitting here looking out the window at the snow. It is really coming down sideways right now and blowing in sheets off the roof. Yikes. I am so glad I am warm and cozy inside. I hope our pond fish will be OK. I can't even see a pond as it just kind of blends in with the ground now and all is white and frozen. We keep a small hole in the ice so the fish can survive but it froze over some days ago. So my dad put a heat lamp on it to thaw it and open up the pond again. Our bird feeders are packed full with birds and squirrels so Ethan and I have plenty of entertainment from the sunroom. As a matter of fact, I think I will go watch the birds for awhile now. I hope all of our friends are staying warm wherever you may be.

Louis

The Legend of the Tabby "M"

I posted this legend tale in my diary last December. But with so many new cats on Catster and this entry so far back in my diary, I thought it might be nice to post it once again. Enjoy!

My Christmas legend is about tabby cats and how we got the "M" marking right above our eyes.

And so it came to pass that a husband and wife journeyed to a small town called Bethlehem, as the king had decreed that all the people stand to be counted in the small towns and teeming cities from whence they came. The journey was long and hard for both, but especially for the young wife, who was very near to bringing her firstborn son into the world. When they at last reached the crowded and noisy town, the expectant father searched hurriedly for a place for them to rest and where the child could safely be born. But at every door, he was told there was no available room. Finally, an old innkeeper, though having no space left in his inn, took pity on them and offered them shelter in the small stable used by his animals. It was there that the child was born, surrounded by beasts of the field. As the night's cold grew, the baby fretted and cried while his parents pondered how to make him comfortable. His father tried stuffing straw into the open places in the walls, and his mother tried warming him with her meager wrappings. But still, the baby cried on. All the while, a tiny cat watched from the corner. "Of course the little baby is cold," the cat thought. "It has no fur to keep it warm! I will give it mine, and I will lullaby-purr it to sleep." A little jump brought the cat into the manger where the baby lay. There, he quietly gave his humble gift of warmth and love, gently stretching out his thin, fragile little body over the baby's, careful to cover all but the infant's face. The crying was soon replaced by soft purrs and coos, and slowly, the infant smiled. As Mary, the new mother, witnessed this gift to her child, she touched the little cat's forehead. "Thank you, Little Tabby, for your gift of love and warmth. As a sign of my grateful blessing, you and all your descendents will forevermore carry my initial on your forehead."

And to this day, tabby cats are known by the remarkable "M" on their foreheads, and by their extraordinary gifts of love, so gently given.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. May 2007 be healthy, fun and have lots of catnip for you.

Love,
Louis

The Holiday Season

I thought it was high time to update my diary. I wanted to share another photo with you but it tends to make my diary entries of old hard to follow once we have to take the photos down. So one day we will make a web page and have it for our wildlife photos. Then I can share them all with you in one place, all the time. For now I will write about the holiday season. We just had Halloween and it is always a lot of fun. Next is Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for this year- a healed elbow, lots of great new friends, a wonderful life filled with love, Ethan who livens up any place any time and so much more. I also look forward to Christmas and all the special things that go with it. I know that I will talk with many of you via pawmail but at this time I would like to wish all who celebrate it this week, a really nice Thanksgiving. May all your bowls be filled with turkey! Or at least may you get a small piece or two of the big bird to celebrate. Gobble Gobble.

Louis

Doe A Deer....

I did not realize it had been so long since I updated my diary. I guess I was having so much fun this Summer that I just forgot. Today I want to tell you about our deer. We have a number of them and see them every once in awhile. One day I was sitting on the swing with my mom and we saw a deer come out of the woods. It started coming right at us. We did not move but it somehow saw us and decided instead to cut through to the other side of our bushes. Soon another deer followed and then one more. I was so excited! I don't know why I get so excited over seeing deer but I think I start to feel like a lion on the hunt when I see one. Now I know they are much bigger than I am but ya can't blame a cat for dreaming now can you? MOL! I used to sit in the front window every morning at 5 AM waiting for them to walk up our driveway. Then they changed paths and I don't see them as much. I think I will go take a nap now so I can dream of being a lion again.

Love,
Louis

The Great Outdoors

I have sure been enjoying my leash walks outside with my mom. It always seems that such interesting things go on outside. Some highlights from last week were: I got to ride in the wheelbarrow all the way to the back of the yard with my dad steering it. I just laid down and let him do the work. Another time my mom and I were sitting on the swing when we heard a strange sound from the sky. Before long out from behind the trees came a man riding some weird looking contraption. My mom said it was a motorized parachute. She waved to him but I guess he was too busy steering it to wave back. I watched him until he was out of my sight. Pretty weird! Then as we were walking toward the back of our property we saw a small rabbit eating something on the edge of the woods. He was not very afraid of us and he kept eating until I am sure I was close enough to pounce. I did try but then he ran a few more feet and stopped. I was tugging at the leash but my mom is very slow and I could not catch the rabbit. We followed that little white cotton tail of his all the way to the woods. He just kept stopping to wait for us it seemed then would hop a bit farther away. Silly rabbit. Then the highlight of the week was getting back to the house and seeing a red-shouldered hawk sitting atop our finch feeder. He was really amazing looking. I thought he would have made a good lunch and he may have thought the same about me too. :-/ Oh and no more sign of the baby chipmunks. So I guess our Chipmunk Posse will be disbanding even before it got going. *sigh

Louis

Chipmunk Posse

The last few days we have been invaded by little baby chipmunks. My mom and I walk around outside and they are scampering all over. It's almost like they are teasing me because they just stop sometimes very near. I go to pounce and get stopped by my leash. I think maybe I need to form a chipmunk posse and round up some of these varmints. :) They are kind of cute and would make a very tasty snack. :P Come and join the chipmunk posse and help me rustle them up!

Louis
