Not only do I get to celebrate Independence Day today, I also get to celebrate my Gotcha Day!
In honor of my Gotcha Day, I thought I would share my journey. I was brought to Happily Ever After because my former family's home was being foreclosed on. They knew because I was an older cat that I would have a harder time getting adopted, so they wanted to bring me to a no-kill shelter (which Happily Ever After is!). I had a few of my siblings with me at Happily Ever After and one by one I saw them get adopted.
I went to a number of adoption events, but no luck. I then ended up being at Petsmart, where my new Mom and Dad (though they didn't know it at the time) volunteered every week. They got a chance to get to know me and I would sit on Dad's lap every week. Potential adopters would come and see me and fall in love with me, until my age came up. As soon as they found out I was 9 years old, they would decide they didn't want me. It was breaking Mom and Dad's hearts, though they kept resisting because of some silly 2 cats only rule at their condo.
After being at Petsmart for a while, Happily Ever After opened its own adoption center and I was moved there. I wasn't there for long, though! Dad brought his Mom to show her the adoption center and Dad picked me up and cuddled with me. Dad's Mom looked at me and said 'She's looking for you, this is your cat.'
A quick discussion in the car followed and Mom and Dad decided to bend the 2 cat rule (they say they have 2 types of cats - calico and tabby) and adopt me.
I'll admit that I'm still not crazy about Teebo and Callie, but we do have an understanding, and I love my new forever home.

A big huge thank you to all my wonderful pals for helping me celebrate my DDP. It was meant to be, because my photos are now available for viewing on the photographer's website. Here's the web address: http://www.firelitefoto.com/Galleries/HEA_JuneJamboree/index .html
There are lots of cute dog pix on there, but if you want to skip to me, my pictures start at picture 60.
Here are some of my pals who stopped by.
Buddie and family and Smiley Cassanova sent me really sweet pawmails.
Pansy stopped by with a refreshing glass of lemonade, which is great because it's been warm and humid.
Tate cruised by and dropped off a fun beach ball for me to bat around.
Thank you again to everyone for helping me celebrate. Now it's time to get some snuggles with Mom and my nightly treat!

Today Happily Ever After (where I used to live) had a fundraiser that's called the June Jamboree. In addition to nail painting, micro chipping, lure course, agility course, raffles and food, they also had Kat from Firelite Foto.
She takes BEAUTIFUL photos, and the sitting fee goes right back to Happily Ever After. So, Mom and Dad loaded me in the stroller (packed with ice packs and my own battery operated fan because of the hot weather) and took me to have my picture taken by Kat.
I was a VERY good girl for my pictures. I sat on top of the wooden box and looked around at all the people and dogs around. To get my attention, Mom turned the fan on so I started looking at the fan (I seriously LOVE having a fan blow on me!) and Kat got sooo many great pix because I'm such a wonderful model (Kat even said so!).
Mom and Dad had a hard time trying to pick the poses to order prints of.
They're so excited to get some new pix of me!
Professional model purrs,

Since Callie and Teebo are playing the spring tag game, I'm playing too!
If you would like to play the Spring game, just copy my diary, change the answers to yours. Since I'm so late getting my answers in, I'm going to let anyone play that wants to play!
Five Things I Like About Spring In Between Naps:
1. Watching the birds at the feeder while sitting on my tower.
2. Smelling all the plants and flowers from the window.
3. Letting the fan blow on me. Just LOVE feeling that breeze!
4. Taking a nap in the nearest sun puddle
5. Listening to the rain as it comes down

Goodness! I can't believe that my last diary entry was all the way back in November. Where does the time go? I've been hibernating during all this cold, snowy weather up here in Wisconsin.
This last Friday, I had to venture out in the cold and snow to make my annual pilgrimage to the vet. All three of us go in together to save on extra office visits. I was really good on the way. I meowed a little in the beginning, but then I peeked my head out of the carrier and watched the traffic as we drove.
Once we got to the vet, I got oohed and ahhed over by the techs checking us in. We he got in the exam room, I was very good and the vet was impressed by my new weight - 12 pounds - which is my ideal weight.
They took me in the back for shots and when they brought me back they said how good I was and how they just loved my squeaky meow.
I think that's just about everything, other than having to go back for a toofie cleaning next month.

I'm under the influence of drugs, so please excuse this rambling entry - more to follow on why I'm on drugs momentarily.
A few weeks ago Mom, Dad and I all attended the Hiss and Howl. This is a fundraising event for the Sanctuary where I used to live. I always go to visit all the volunteers that were so nice to me and take part in the costume contest. I've never won in the three years I've been in it, but that's okay, I just love getting all the attention from all the people at the event.
I was chilling out on the chairs reveling in the attention when they started announcing the winners of the contest. I won the cutest award! Okay, actually, I tied with a dog - but still! I may have had a slight edge because I was the ONLY cat there - so I think I got the whole share of the cat people vote.
On to the reason for me being on drugs. I'm quite stealthy and I got a little too close behind Mom and she stepped on my front paw. A few days later I was limping and holding up my paw, so off to the vet I went on Saturday. Good news is that it's just strained, so I got a shot of Cosequin and I'm doing better now.
That's probably enough rambling for now. Sending purrs to everyone affected by Sandy.

I was tagged in a game by my pal Tully. Here's the questions just copy and paste. And tag 5 kits to play along.
1) Tell me your funny Christmas story.
Hmmm..I've only been here for two Christmases. However, my 1st Christmas here Mom and Dad found out that even though I'm a little older that I still like to bat at the Christmas ornaments on the lower branches.
2) Where's your favorite hiding place when playing hide and go seek?
I don't really like to hide very much. But when I do, I like to go and hide on the steps to the basement. Not a very good hiding spot, but, like I said, I don't hide very much.
3) What did you dream of being as a young kit?
I dreamt of being a pampered cat - and I am VERY pampered here!
4) What's your favorite hobby?
Cuddling. Seriously, I LOVE to cuddle and get love from Mom and Dad (or anyone who stops by). I also really like to sit on the cat tower and watch the birds.
5) What’s your one "bad habit" that you love and your Mom hates?
I will only play when Mom isn't watching. She would love it if I would play with her or Dad, but I just won't.
6) If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
This is a tough one! I'm not really tied to a specific place. I just want to be in a home where I'm loved.
7) What is your guilty pleasure?
8) What is your favorite make believe monster? Post a pic of this mysterious beast.
I don't really have one. I'm pretty unflappable and don't get scared easily.
9) What is the one dreaded thing you have to do at home?
Live with Teebo. I just don't trust boy cats!
10) Zach's family is going to have have coed ships this year for Talk Like a Pirate Day, so which ship do you want to be on Zach, or Zoe’s. Gris will be having a small ship (more like a dingy) for all our kits to be on.
Since I'm a girly girl, I would have to say Zoe's.
Now I'll be tagging 5 of my fabulous friends to play! If you haven't been tagged yet, feel free to play!

I like to go in the basement and explore. Teebo and Callie are too scared but I'm braver I guess. I stand at the door to the basement and "ask" dad to open it. So he does at my command. Today dad took me in the basement himself to show me some of his "Kollectables" on shelves. He then set me down in an area of the basement I had not yet explored thoroughly and left. I have to admit I did not know where I was. There were all these strange plastic boxes around. So I Meowed my loudest and dad came back down to see what I wanted. Once I saw him I followed him upstairs. So I guess I got lost in the basement. I'm glad dad was available to rescue me. I'll have to explore that area better next time I'm in the basement.
With warm purrs

Wow - it's already been two years since I got adopted! Time flies when you're having fun!! Thanks to all my pals for stopping by to help me celebrate. Mom and Dad gave us all some Rescue Remedy to help us deal with all the noisy fireworks. Don't know how many people will be outside because it's in the mid 90's and VERY humid.
Mom and Dad are going to stay inside on the couch and watch some Big Bang Theory with me.
