Joey update

Hiya furiends,
As you remember Joey had that surgery to make him pee like a girl June 18. He did OK for about 6-8 weeks then he started blocking up with the crystals again. So, he had a second surgery and the vet said he made his stoma (hence forth to be called his hoohoo) as big as he could. Again he did OK for awhile, but he started having pr's again last Weds and Mom got him in that day to see the vet. So Thurs morning was his third surgery for this same thing. The vet said that scar tissue was growing and closing up his hoohoo. So now Joey has the biggest, ugliest hoohoo in the entire state. And another 2 weeks of Mom sleeping on the floor in the spare room with him. I Hate her being gone from me at night. And believe me, I let her know about it.
So now we're worried that this scar tissue will just continue, and make Joey have to undergo surgery periodically. The vet says we'll just have to wait and see. How many surgeries is he suppose to take? Just how much is my poor brofur suppose to endure? All this and he has heart pr's and epilepsy.
We're purring to the cat in the sky that this will be it. Feel free to purr with us if you like.

Poor Joey:( Mom can't remember if she already told you about this group for kitties with FLUTD ~ FLUTD@yahoogroups.com Several members have kitties who had the same surgery as Joey, maybe they will have suggestions. We got a lot of good advice from this group when I had urinary crystals. Sending lots of purrs to Joey and to your Mommy.

Purring for your cool brofur...he is really brave and a super tough kitty.
I know you are being supportive and taking care of him. That Crystal is one mean lady.

We're all Purring for our pal Joey....have you tried urine acidifiers to dissolve the crystals? We give Bent Ear Methio-form to keep him free of crystals...you can find it online if your Dr doesn't have it....we have been feeding BE(& everyone else) 9-Lives Plus Care & he's been doing well on that....Joey just has to get better....

I think vitamin E is good for limiting scar tissue...topically anyway,not sure about orally....

Thank you everyone for your purrs and thoughts.
Sammy, I think your mom did give me that group, but like a fool I didn't check it out. No doubt thinking it would never turn into this. Thanks for giving it again, I will check it out this time.
And thanx Tig for the info. I'll ask the vet if Joey can have it with his other meds. hmmmm rubbing vit E on his hoohoo???
I'll have to think on that one some. MOL
