Arrival Story:
Fanny was the runt of a litter born to a feral cat that lived by a coworker's apartment. The coworker caught the kittens and brought them in to work to find homes. I took Fanny's brother Felix at the request of the coworker (who had taken him to the vet to treat a broken nose), but at the end of the day, Fanny had not been adopted, so I took her as well.
Bio:
Fanny is named after Fanny Mendelssohn, 19'th-century German composer and sister of the composer Felix Mendelssohn. Although Fanny was the runt of her litter, she had the sweetest personality. She would jump into the lap of any visitor sitting in her favorite chair and expect to be petted. She died of kidney failure in 2006 at the age of 17.

Today my brofur Felix joined us at the Rainbow Bridge! Felix and I came from the same litter, so we were always very close. I was excited to welcome him to this lovely place, since I know he has been feeling under the weather the past few months. My other brofurs Junior and Alex and I had been keeping a close eye on him since he started losing weight a few months ago. Meowmi had been concerned and had taken him to the vet several times. She was giving him fluids and meds, which I'm sure he didn't like -- I certainly never liked taking them!
We knew that he had stopped eating a couple of days ago and stopped drinking water yesterday, so we were standing by to welcome him and guide him to the Bridge when he was ready to pass over. Several of our friends we've met at the Bridge joined us this morning as the doctor gently helped him pass through the barrier separating our worlds. While I'm sad that Meowmi feels so sad to lose him, I'm happy to see Felix here back to his fat -- oops, "puffy" -- self and feeling good again. I'll dry Meowmi's tears with a caress of my wings; I know she understands Felix was ready to come join us.

What a surprise to get a pmail today from Princess Diana telling me I'm the Cat of the Week for the Hey! You Look Like Me! group! My brofur Felix was honored last week, but he's more active in the group than I am, so I never expected to be so honored! I may have to fix myself a cup of catnip tea to recover from the surprise! Purrrrrrrr. . .
Speaking of surprises, Meowmi was telling me that another of her little piano students was commenting how she missed having me lie over in the old comfy chair while the girl was having her lesson. . . I'm touched that the students remember me after two years! Especially since there are new foster kittens to distract them! MOL!

Meowmi whispered to me about one of her little students who comes to our house for lessons. The little girl is only eight years old, but at her lesson she told Meowmi that she missed the "grey kitty that used to sit in that chair" -- she was talking about ME! And I went to the Bridge almost two years ago - when the little girls was only about six years old! I always enjoyed coming out to greet the students, but I didn't realize I made such a big impression on them!
