I've been tagged by Raypod.  I sent The Bluebird of Happiness to thank him.

The instructions for this one are:

Write five (5) fabulous facts about yourself, then tag five other fabulous cats.

Having little fabulosity, I will just stream consciousness -

1.  The One White Whisker has come and gone 5 times so far.

2.  I am a member of The Neighborhood Roof Prowlers.

3.  I have a small fan club in Paris;

4.  I do not speak French.

5.  Since breaking the CT's will regarding the roof, I convinced the others that the CT is bigger, but we are many; she is helpless against us.

I tag the following fabulous cats:

Elisabeth Ann
Alexander "Big Al"

I know they will be delighted to receive this!

No Kitten No More...

♫ ♪ no no no! ♫

I have kept up a bit of patter about my growth stages since I came to this place. I am two years old today. The elders tell us by the time you are two years old you shall have reached your adult fur color, eye color, and body shape.

The CT predicted when she brought me home that I would always have the same face; the shelter people told her they thought I would always have the same 'tude. I can live with this.

The CT and I chose the photos that we think are what I am like in person and persona to put up today. It is hard to tell which pictures are a younger or older me.

I am still a plain black pound cat!

I was tagged by kaya skye and Cheyanne. I will write seven things about myself since I haven't had to do it in a long time. See, I write, then I tag seven other cats who then write and tag seven other cats... at least it doesn't say you will be shaved within fifteen minutes if you fail to do it!

  1)   We celebrated the Lunar New Year today - Year of the Rat;
  2)   for his eighth birthday, I gave Jacques a "fake" thrashing;
  3)   I did not squirm or whimper when I got my nails trimmed;
  4)   Squeakers and I share a birthday;
  5)   I believe in "each one purr one" and try to do this every day in The Power of Purr chain;
  6)   I prefer to knock my kibble on the floor to eat one by one;
  7)   my life is simple, therefore these tag things tend to be pretty dull reading.

Now that I think about it, this is such dull reading, I will not tag or inflict it on anycat. Check back for events of greater interest which shall be reported here as they occur.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me roam through the wide open neighborhood I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me hunt mousies in the evenin' breeze,
And stalk the chirping birds in the trees,
Feed and love me but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my fence
Underneath the San Francisco skies.
On my paws, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the California sun rise.

I want to run to the house where the action commences
And meow at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look through windows and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.

Catster Reviews:  Good Read

Discovery of the Month:  The Tales of Brave Ulysses! Ulysses's Odyssey!

A play-reading, interpretive ad-lib version of Homer's Odyssey - the ongoing saga as presented by U-Man and the members of Big Leo's Stray Cat Alley.

The Stray Cat Alley is known for rough and tumble and plenty of excitement, but reading and/or participating in this innovative Catster "first" is reason in itself to explore Jersey Boy Territory. Gods and goddesses caught on camcorder; original characters from a cat's point of view; jealousy, adventure; monsters...well you think you know the plot, but you ain't never heard it this way!

***** Five Paws up from this reviewer!

Santy Claws brings KissMouse Meme

Miss Elisabeth Ann has tagged me for a KissMouse meme.
All you have to do is list in your diary five things that you would like for KissMouse.
Then tag and list five friends.

Whew...I had to ask if this meant Kissing a Mouse but nocat has accused me of having a sharp mind, therefore, what I would like for Christmas from Santa Claus:

1)   That the leaves come back for a day, so I will have fresh toys;
2)   that The Power of Purr Chain can claim 200 adoptions in 2007;
3)   that The White Whisker stays for another year;
4)   a new collar for Jacques;
5)   that CT remembers she is a Human and acts like one, puleez!

Meme and Re-Meme

Ah, I have been tagged in a new Meme Game.
I learned that in this one, you are supposed to pick ten friends and send them a rosette and a note to read your diary in which you have written nice things about them; then they do the same, if you get the gist here.

The Code of Fiend does not support the concept of one friend being more special than another, so right off this game presents difficulties. Instead, I will offer general random thoughts in keeping with the original meme.

1. If you who have not defined Long/Short Hair, consider the American Plush-Fur Specialty Breed;
2. My One White Whisker comes and goes with a timetable of its own;
3. Fall leaves from the roof or balcony make wonderful toys and gifts;
4. It is not proper behavior to put Fall leaf gifts in the water bowl;
5. I do not have a fancy page because the CT is CSS challenged;
6. I do not worry much about the aforementioned fact because...
7. ...Black Cats are minimalist by nature and our needs are few; we only want the Very Best.

I will not tell who memed me out, and will not tag anycat else. Classify this as the just-a-bit-past-one-year-and-a-half update.

Last year I wrote about Samhain, but rather than repeat, I will add a bit more.

First off, the thing people seem to wonder most about Samhain - How is it meant to be pronounced? Well, as in most things, this depends on exactly where you are. In Ireland, it is pronounced, "sow-in." In Wales and England, it is traditionally, "sow-een." And in Scotland it is, "sav-en."

Samhain is the end of the "summer" half of the year. The Celtic people divided the year into two parts, summer and winter. It is the last harvest before the snows. It is also considered to be the first of the new year. Since the Celts viewed time as circular rather than linear, the night that is at once the end of the year and the beginning was considered to be "outside" of time. A night of contradiction where life and death, opposites but part of the same thing, were celebrated side by side.

The most well known aspect of Samhain is it's role as the Feast of the Dead. It is a night to honor the ancestors, to celebrate their lives, and to toast their memories. It was believed that on this night, the dead could return to earth to visit with the living. It was considered polite to set places at the table for those recently deceased, and to leave food for them and for wondering souls. Lights should be placed in windows and along roads to help guide the spirits out for the night.

It is also a night to make decisions. The Celts have a tradition that is the root of the modern New Year's Resolution. The tradition states that on this day, one should reflect on the negatives in ones life and ways in which one can become a better person in the coming year.
