  • The 7 Best Arm and Hammer Cat Litters

    1. Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Cat Litter — Best Overall

Arm & Hammer Litter Clump & Seal

There are only two things you want a kitty litter to do: clump neatly and seal in odors. As you might expect given the name, Clump & Seal is exemplary at both.

It quickly clumps up when it comes in contact with a mess, and the clumps are hard, making them easy to scoop out (and easy for your cat to avoid). This helps each box last a long time, as you’re not wasting litter on messes that spread unnecessarily.

You won’t have to deal with much dust either, which may be related to the clumping abilities.

It can seal in odors for up to a week, giving you plenty of time to clean out the box before your home starts to stink, making it our choice for the best overall Arm & Hammer cat litter. This is a multi-cat formula too, so you can imagine how powerful the odor control would have to be in that case.

The biggest issue we have with this formula is its tendency to stick to paws, which leads to it being tracked all over your house. You can solve this to a certain extent by placing a mat outside the box, but it’s annoying all the same.

Overall, though, Clump & Seal is our favorite Arm & Hammer litter, and we feel it is clearly deserving of its place atop this list.

    Pros
    • Makes hard clumps
    • Seals in odors for a week
    • Capable of handling a multi-cat household
    • Little dust
    • Box lasts a long time
    Cons
    • Gets tracked all over the place

    2. Arm & Hammer Slide Multi-Cat Scented Cat Litter — Best Value Arm & Hammer Litter Slide Multi-Cat Scent

Slide Multi-Cat is designed to come out of the box with minimal effort, so if you get frustrated by stuck-on clumps on the bottom and sides of the pan, this might be the litter for you.

This makes cleaning the box out much easier than it would normally be, so hopefully, it will stop being a chore you dread doing. It can also save you money, as there’s less wasted litter, but this stuff is inexpensive enough that it’s not much of an issue (in fact, we feel this is the best Arm & Hammer cat litter for the money).

It works well in self-cleaning boxes as well. Since it doesn’t stick to surfaces, it is less likely to cause the rake to get stuck in the middle of a pass.

As you’d likely expect, given its ability to keep messes from sticking to surfaces, it makes nice, tight clumps, even in the middle of the box. You shouldn’t have much issue with clumps breaking apart as you scoop them either.

It’s a good thing this litter is easy to clean, though, because it is not the best at controlling odors. In fact, it has its own smell that isn’t pleasant, so you’ll want to sprinkle it with deodorizer religiously and clean it every day.

As long as you stay on top of cleaning the box, Slide Multi-Cat is one of the company’s best litters and certainly its best value, which is why it earns a silver medal here for the best Arm & Hammer cat litter for the money.

    Pros
    • Doesn’t stick to bottom or sides of box
    • Makes tight clumps
    • Cuts down on wasted litter
    • Performs well in self-cleaning boxes
    Cons
    • Litter has a pungent smell
    • Struggles to contain odors

    3. Arm & Hammer Cloud Control Cat Litter — Premium Choice Arm & Hammer Litter Platinum Scented

Cloud Control gets its name from the fact that it has Dander Shield Technology, which means this stuff cuts down on dust as much as possible. It does a good job too, so you shouldn’t have a fine layer of soot surrounding the box.

This makes it a good choice for users with respiratory issues. That is especially true given that the scent is allergen-free, so there shouldn’t be anything inside the box to aggravate your lungs.

The litter itself is soft, which your feline friends should appreciate, and that can help reduce incidents of going outside the box. The softness also helps cut down on tracking, making this one of the cleanest overall litters you’ll find anywhere.

Of course, that cleanliness comes at a price, and a box of this stuff isn’t cheap. It also takes quite a while for the clumps to solidify, so you’ll likely encounter a few that aren’t fully formed every time you clean the box.

If you’re looking for a way to control the mess around your cat’s litter box, you can’t go wrong with the Cloud Control formula. Just expect to spend a little extra on it.

    Pros
    • Little dust
    • Allergen-free scent
    • Soft texture
    • Doesn’t cause much tracking
    Cons
    • On the pricey side
    • Takes a long time to clump up

    4. Arm & Hammer Platinum Double Duty Cat Litter Arm & Hammer Litter Double Duty Scented

Platinum Double Duty is infused with baking soda, which helps it tame noxious odors. It can handle urine and feces odors equally well, so your home shouldn’t stink every time your cat does their business.

The baking soda is moisture-activated, ensuring that the litter won’t have an overwhelming smell just sitting in the box. It still springs into action once it comes in contact with pee, though.

Since it does such a good job of neutralizing odors, it’s great for multi-cat households. It’s also a good choice for users who can’t get around to cleaning the box as often as they’d like.

While it’s great at stopping smells, its clumping abilities leave something to be desired. The clumps tend to disintegrate as you scoop them (although they perform better in automatic boxes for some reason).

It’s also dusty, especially when poured, so keep a broom and dustpan handy.

If odor control is your main concern, we’d recommend buying a box of Platinum Double Duty. However, its limitations as an all-around litter prevent us from ranking it any higher on this list.

    Pros
    • Great at neutralizing odors
    • Infused with baking soda
    • Ideal for multi-cat households
    • Good for users who don’t clean the box often
    Cons
    • Clumps poorly
    • Very dusty

    5. Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Clumping Cat Litter Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Strength

Multi-Cat Clumping offers extra-strength odor control at a budget-friendly price, making it a solid choice for anyone trying to keep up with several kittens without going broke in the process.

It’s a low-dust formula, so the area around the box should stay fairly clean. However, the reason it is low dust is that it’s extremely heavy. Your cat may have a bit more of an issue digging through this than similar litter.

All that weight helps it clump, though, and messes should stay relatively contained. The clumps hold together well while you scoop them, but it uses a large amount of clay when it clumps. As a result, you’ll probably go through a box of this faster than some other options.

It has a mild, pleasant scent, and it’s infused with baking soda to help control odors. This isn’t a litter you can leave for a week without smelling anything, but you can certainly go a few days before smells become an issue.

Multi-Cat Clumping isn’t a perfect litter, but given how well it clumps and how inexpensive it is, it represents one of the company’s best values.

    Pros
    • Creates little dust
    • Good value for the price
    • Clumps well
    • Pleasant scent
    Cons
    • Extremely heavy
    • Uses a large amount of litter to clump
    • Can only go a few days without cleaning

    6. Arm & Hammer Naturals Scented Corn Cat Litter Arm & Hammer Litter Naturals Scented Clumping Corn

If you’re an eco-conscious cat owner, you may have been curious about experimenting with corn litter. Arm & Hammer’s Naturals Corn is the company’s attempt at this type of product.

Many users like it because it’s biodegradable, and you can flush it or toss it in a composter rather than sending it to the landfill in a bag. It’s also extremely lightweight and low-dust, giving it several advantages over traditional litters.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t clump as well, especially when it comes to sealing in urine. Instead of one tight, manageable ball, you’ll get tiny little crumbles. This makes it extremely difficult to completely remove waste, which is unsanitary.

As those bits of leftover waste accumulate, they will start to overwhelm the corn’s ability to neutralize odors. You’ll either need to add a ton of deodorizer or start over with a fresh batch of litter, and this stuff isn’t cheap.

Not all cats will use it, either, especially if they’re accustomed to the traditional stuff. It seems to be an issue with the texture, and if your feline friend doesn’t like it, there’s little you can do to change their mind.

We’re always fans of protecting the environment, and Naturals Corn is one of the best litters on the market for that purpose. It’s simply not as good as its rivals, though, so you may have to pick between protecting the planet or your cat.

    Pros
    • Eco-friendly
    • Can be flushed or composted
    • Lightweight and low-dust
    Cons
    • Crumbles instead of clumps
    • Difficult to clean thoroughly
    • Leftover waste accumulates to cause odors
    • Not all cats will use it

    7. Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter Arm & Hammer Litter Ultra Scented Clumping

Ultra Last Clumping is intended to provide long-term odor control, so you’d think it would be an excellent choice for busy pet owners who can’t clean the litter box out every day. Ultimately, though, it performs much better in theory than in practice.

Instead of containing odors, the manufacturers simply tried to cover up smells by making the litter itself extremely pungent. This stuff is swimming in perfume, and the smell is so overpowering that you might actually be grateful when your cat climbs in to use it.

That won’t last long, though, because then you’ll just have a combination of waste and perfume lingering in the air.

It doesn’t clump so much as it makes mud, and your cat will track that wet, sticky mess all over your house. As you can imagine, scooping those wet messes is a chore.

The good news is that it doesn’t kick up much dust, so if that’s your only criteria, feel free to give this a whirl. Otherwise, though, we expect you’ll be happier with any of the other options listed.

    Pros
    • Creates little dust
    Cons
    • Overpowering fragrance
    • Doesn’t contain odors well
    • Makes wet, sticky messes
    • Difficult to scoop

    Conclusion

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal is our favorite of all the brand’s litters, as it truly lives up to its name. It makes tight, easy-to-scoop clumps that seal in odor effectively, helping to make cleaning the litter box less of a chore.

Our second favorite is Slide Multi-Cat, as it’s inexpensive and doesn’t stick to the box. You won’t have to spend a ton of time trying to chisel out stuck-on waste with this formula.

Arm & Hammer is one of the top litter manufacturers out there, and many of their products are top-notch. Hopefully, the reviews above will make it easier to find the perfect formula for your cat, so you can both enjoy a clean, odor-free home.
