The Pink Welcome Sign's First Angel

Yesterday while I was trying to find out secrets about my big birthday bash, the rainbow started flashing. That means a pal is getting ready to come to the gate.

I had just gotten the new pink Welcome sign back from the sign department, and when I picked it up, the cat behind the desk told me that she contacted the Rainbow Flasher cat. The Rainbow Flasher is going to give us a heads up on whether the newest angel coming to the bridge is a boy or a girl. Either the pink or blue part of the rainbow will glow brighter. That way, I'll know which sign to bring to the gate.

So, the pink arch was glowing brighter. I ran to get Rocky Ann because I promised her she could help me hold the sign for the first pink angel pal that came through the gate. After all, she and her gal pals designed the sign - it's the least I could do!

We both ran to the gate and got in the front. I sort of let her hold more of the sign than I did because I could tell she was taking the job very seriously.

We saw the cloud approaching that carries the newest angel, and I thought I saw a flower lei around her neck. Then I heard singing! All the angels at the bridge were singing, I Wish They All Could Be California Girls.

And I knew who it was.

The First Lady of Catster had come to the bridge.

There was hugging, and crying, and Oh my cats, what are you doing here, and a heart basket filled with a catrillion hearts! Mercy took one look at me, and I could tell that she knew she was going to be okay. She gave me a big 'ole high five, and then we all sat down to hear about what happened.

I told Mercy there was gonna be a lot of crying today on Catster, and she said that her family was very sad. I tried to encourage her by telling her the first thing you find out how to do at orientation is sprinkle angel dust. Can you imagine the bucket of angel dust she is going to need when she flys by her family's house? I'll bet Rocky Ann will help her since they both will be going in the same direction.

There is one good thing about Mercy coming to the bridge. She got here in time for my first birthday party. It is going to be one blast of a party, and even though I'm very sad for her family, I'm glad she is here to party with me!

Me and Mama are furry sad about Mercy. She and her family was one of our first furriends here on Catster and Mercy and her fur family have been so kind to us and made us feel right at home. Its so sad. There is no words to express how we feel. But I know you are watching over her and I have heard the Bridge is a beautiful place with so much happiness even though our hearts are heavy we are comforted by the fact that she is no longer sick or in any pain and can live at Rainbow Bridge in eternal peace and happiness.

Calvin, I am so glad you had your new sign ready to welcome sweet Mercy. Everyone at Catster is going to miss her so much, I can't imagine how hard it will be for her family. Purring for them.

Calvin,
The only thing good about Mercy leaving us is knowing you guys were there to greet her. We miss all of you. No matter if you're 2 or 20, it hurts when you leave us. We hope she had a wagon to carry her hearts in 'cause she left a lot of broken ones here.

It does make me feel better knowing you and Rocky ann were there to greet our Mercy. I can just see the smiles and the happy meows! I hope she and Rocky Ann sprinkle lots of angel dust on all of us so we stop crying and can be happy again.
Please give everyone at the Bridge our love. Thank you, Calvin, for being the best greeter ever.

What a beautiful diary entry for the weloming of Angel Mercy to the Rainbow Bridge. I'm sure it gave much comfort to her family.

Thank you so much Calvin for the honor of helping you hold the PINK sign the first time it was used. It was very special to me to help welcome my Homegirl Mercy to the Bridge. And we all gave her quite the welcome.

Now I hope your signs get a rest!!

Oh Calvin, what a nice warm greeting for Mercy! I know she is in vewy gud hands with our own Brofur Smokey Joe, 'n Sadie and all da oder Bridge furs. U my furiend r purr solid gold!
I hope's u haz a wonerfur birfday wif loads of prezzies and funz! Tankies fur being sush a gweat angel takin' care of all uv our wonerfur fur angels.

Oh Calvin, That's why your an angel, to help out when a angel kitty crosses over to the Bridge.
Thank you so much for your hard work at the Bridge and keeping up with all those kitties who come through the Pearly gates.
I know she is happy and and her fun loving ways continue to live on.

I think she will also need a huge farm wagon to carry her angel dust around...a bucket surely could not hold enough to put on all her furmily and vast array of furends. A bucket would have to have its contents spread so thinly...she will want and need to spread around a thick soft sparkling blanket of it. Like a winter snowfall...warm looking soft, sparkly and beautiful. To help make some of the rivers of falling tears slow down, or even stop...
I shall call on my furblings here to help her pull that wagon, that will make it easier and quicker for her.
OMC! If it was December we could ask Mr Santa Paws to help with his huge sleigh, and he knows how to travel all over...

Meows Calvin!Oh yea, I will help Suki wif da BIG wagon! Soft Sparkling rivers and rivers of sweet angel dusites fur ALL Mercy's furmily & furiends! It will be a rejoiceful moment in da memory of all time! Sadie will come wif me to help, of course. We send memories of precious times and more spawcial moments to come to Mercy's loved ones.

Glad you got your new sign Calvin. There is a very special angel on her way to you. She will need extra help as she hasn't walked in 12 years. Her name is Katie. If you have the chance please see her pix and my last diary entry. So you will know her when she comes your way.

If we had to lose her here on Earth, I'm glad she at least was welcomed by such a great group of kitties. I'm so glad you had your sign ready for her. She deserves it.

It's good to know some of what you do up there so we know our pals going up will be in good paws. I've been following Mercy since 2004, that's a really long time. But I'm looking for thunder during your party!
