What Is National Feed a Pet Rescue Week?

National Feed a Pet Rescue Week is held to raise money to feed cats and other animals at local rescue shelters. One of the biggest expenses that animal rescue shelters and rescue groups have is the cost of feeding the animals they are trying to help.

This event is designed to provide food to the shelters and groups so that their funds can be allocated elsewhere, such as vaccines, medical care, adoption programs, and more.

How You Can Help

Some of the funds that could go to these services are eaten up by the sheer cost of feeding the animals that they are trying to help, leaving little for the remaining needs of the animals.

During this week, pet lovers everywhere can support the feeding of these homeless pets by giving donations through various websites or even donating to the local animal shelter. It’s horrible to think about, but it’s estimated that there are over 6 million homeless animals in America that are taken in by United States animal rescues yearly.

Not only is that a staggering number of stray animals, but it’s also a staggering number of mouths to feed for the people trying desperately to help these cats and other animals. It’s also a huge burden that the COVID-19 virus had a huge impact on families and shelters alike. It’s also come to light that because of COVID-19, millions more families than usual have come to need help feeding their pets, as they are having problems even feeding themselves.

Though Covid is no longer the problem it once was, families and shelters still struggle to feed animals and need your help. You can help by donating food or money to struggling shelters so that they can feed strays until they find a forever home for them.

Final Thoughts

National Feed a Pet Rescue Week is held from July 23 to July 29 and will be held again next year on the same dates. If you missed this year’s National Feed a Pet Rescue Week, don’t fret. There is still plenty you can do to help get these animals the help they need. Your local animal shelter and any rescue centers in your area will be glad to accept donations, whether it’s food or money, any time of the year.

Next year’s event will be better than ever, so make sure to mark your calendar and give them your support. The shelter cats will love you for it, and who knows, maybe you’ll find a friend to provide a forever home in the process. You’ll get plenty of love and loyalty in return.
