What a gorgeous, picture! I love your fountain, Cody!
Well thank you. Mom only lets me go out when she is there and she keeps a really close eye on me cuz I am a master of escape. I can be over the fence in a flash. I know mom says there are coyotes and rattlesnakes out in that canyon so I can't go explore. She even put up a snake fence so I can't run out between the bars of the fence, doggone it. I sure do think I would like to go on an outdoor adventure all by myself to check it all out. But I guess mom is boss.
I have never heard of a snake fence, is it like a plastic sheet or something? We have opossums & snakes too, but they're mostly harmless. Mom has only ever seen one rattlesnake, but that was enough.
You can kind of see the snake fence in the photo. It's a fine metal mesh. Mom's snake wrangler guy put it in. He had to dig down about a foot into the dirt to bury the bottom of the screen there and then attach it to the fence. It worked pretty well until last summer when there was a rattlesnake on the patio. Mom was so brave--she went out and took care of that snake herself! She was kind of funny cuz she kept telling the snake she was sorry while she was taking care of it and making it into some coyote or hawk food. Before when there was a rattlesnake in the yard (and one time, a little baby one in the house!), her son-in-law came and got it. And the snake wrangler captured one when he was here and took it away in a box to let it loose somewhere far away. So anyways...guess that's part of the reason mom won't let me go outside. The hawks in the daytime and the owls and coyotes at night like small critters like me too. Mom is such a worry wart about that kind of stuff.
Where do you live? Rattlesnake in the house, little or not, Mom would have a heartattack...........
We live in Southern California in a coastal area. Our house backs up to a canyon. It's on the other side of the fence in the photo. There are all kinds of critters that live in the canyon, including coyotes, rattlesnakes, bunnies, hawks and owls. And really, really noisy frogs who live in the little stream at the bottom. Mom did OK with the tiny baby rattlesnake once her son-in-law came and got it and then checked all over the house to make sure there weren't any more. But she did just about have a heart attack when she had to take care of the grown-up one on the patio last summer! Those are tough critters that don't go down easy. But she said there was no one else to do it so she just did it and then about had a heart attack after!
