My mum's eccentricities take her in a lot of odd ways. She was home in good time yesterday and we were all happy. Like so often I wanted to play more than Josie did. So my mum said we should go in the garden.

I thought it was raining but she was right, it wasn't. She made straight for the prickliest bush at the end of the garden and started pulling berries off it. I was happy enough eandering about near her and chatting. For example, I wanted to know why she had gone for the prickly bush? She said she could eat those berries.

But then she said she didn't have very many. I could see loads and so I told her but apparently the red ones aren't ready. They turn black when they are ready.

I gave the matter some thought and asked if I had been red and then turned black when I was ready but mum said kittens aren't the same as berries and I was always black. But I think I probably was red and so was Josie was too as she is still a bit red so I don't think she's ready yet - and so I told her.

Mum says that would surely not be for lack of sunshine which is what the blackberries need. Josie sunbathes a lot.

Mum went back inside with her berries and I played a while outside but then mean cat came along. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me and mum heard and came rushing out and chased mean cat right up the garden path which was a sight to cheer any young cat.

Sounds like you've got the same problem we're having at the moment. We have a stray coming in our yard and mum won't let me fight him to tell him who's boss. Mum and Grandpa keep shooing him away.

I think you got that right, Toby. Josie is still red behind the ears, so she isn't ready yet. You just have to grow a little more and then you can be HOH (Head of household).

OH yea we got some strays or maybe they are neighbors kitties but I don't like em and mom will not let me out to chase them off either, I gotta run from window to window and outside to the enclousre to keep my eyes on them urrrrggh I do not like them in my yard.
But it did sound like loads of fun hanging out with your mom in the garden.
