We are all from feral stock here at our house, though Sleeper and I have been indoors since we were both young kittens. Early on our pawrents introduced us to leash-walking which we LOVE being able to go outside (though we have a cattery attached to the house as well that we can go in whenever we want.) When we first start off on our walks, it's our choice which direction we go. The garden is maybe a 100 ft away; Sleeper usually wants to go there immediately since it's maybe an 1/8th of an acre that's fenced in to keep out deer, and she feels safe in there. I may or may not go that way at first; there's 5-1/4 acres of property to explore (and more if the Mama will let me wander off property a little). Fearless rarely goes in the corral garden unless the folks carry her there first and close the gate! Anyway, once we're there, the pawrents will generally drop Sleeper and my leashes and let us roam, keeping close just in case. We have both been known to start up trees, and Sleeper once, in a tearing run, went right up the fence before the Mama caught hold of the end of the leash and stopped her! Not that she would probably have done anything but head back to the house, but it's for our safety that the folks have a way to slow us down. Fearless, now, you can just forget it! She is very wild still, though she's getting better. Doubtful she will be free to roam anytime soon! :)
