I wrote an entry about this, and the Catster fleas did something to it.
Folks, I don't like worrying about lost Furs.
When you non furred 2 legged beings took on our care, you made a promise to our Spirit.
Cats need to remain cared for, cherished and we need to be companions and in many ways, soul children and guardian spirits. We need to remain indoors, unless on a harness and leash, or otherwise protected.
When I hear of Furs that are lost, and could have had something happen to them, it makes me sad.
People...as a cat, I can tell you...being an 'Indoor' cat is not a bad thing.
When you bought yourself into our lives, you changed a part of who we were. When you changed our environment you did so forever. We can't compete with fast cars, fierce dogs or other animals, people who don't like us, and just so many unknowns. When you let us out to roam, you do us a grave dis-service, and it doesn't matter if you live here in the US or somewhere else if there are dangers there that you can't keep from us.
I lose sleep and my appitite for worrying about this.
Mommy saw 2 dead kitties on the side of the road on her way from vacation. One had a little pink collar, but no tags. It made mommy sad the rest of the day.
If you are a Non Fur, and you allow your Fur to roam freely-without supervision...well, what would happen if you allowed one of your human kits that are small to do this....?
Do Furs not matter?
Sorry, I don't mean to hurt feelings-but non furs need to learn that its a DANGEROUS world for us outh there 'in the cold' (or hot, or whatever)
Love and Purrs...

Non furs will never agree on indoor/outdoor issues. I was an indoor out door kitty for most all of my life and was never hurt harmed or lost, mom grew up with indoor outdoor kitties and her sisters still have indoor outdoor kitties, now days mom and dad have all 6 kitties in door only. Boo even knows the dangers of outdoor life and every now and again she still tries to slip outside, mom and dad don't let her but some non furs think it is wrong to stop us from experiencing outdoor life, I made the adjutment to indoor only life real easy, some furs fight it all the way. Makes mom sad too when she see a kitty killed outside and we often see them roaming in our neighborhood.
I knows how you feel Ruffy, I feel the same way. I don't want to hurt people's feelings, but babies need to be inside and safe. Mommy is still so sad that my Cousin Mittens escaped from Aunt Lydia's. The family thinks it is likely she didn't make it and was found by a wild animal, it's too sad to think about. Mittens wasn't even an outside kitty but she got out and now she's gone, it breaks mommy's heart. Please keep kitties safe peoples. The other night, driving home late from the grocery store, this pretty orange Persian with a summer lion cut ran across the road. Traffic all slammed on breaks and daddy nearly drove off the road to avoid hitting him. Everyone was ok, mommy tried to find him but he ran off into a residential neighborhood. He clearly had a home but no street smarts, why would someone let him out? He could get hurt! He nearly was killed and caused or caused an accident. Please keep babies inside!
Inside is de best!!! Warm, dry, and dats where de food is!!!
Yes, inside is best. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings either, but there is just no good reason for us to be outside.
We agree with you! Mom will not take care of any cats that their humans allow them to go outside! it would break Moms heart if anything happened to one of the kitties when she is taking care of it...she just turned down a new client with cats the owner will be gone for 30 days and she wanted Mom to let them out and then go back and let them in...Mom said she couldn't do it...she would be worrying about the kitties all the time.
To many humans think cats belong outside and that is so not true...they have better lives when inside.
Our Tallulah was an outside kitty, she was being mistreated by humans, she was pregnant when she was 6 months old I gave her a better life one we know she was so happy to have and not have to worry about being hurt anymore. Zeke was found in a container on the side of the road with his siblings if someone hadn't come along and rescued them who knows what would have happened...
So yes we agree 100% with you!
We don't like to hurt feeling either...but we feel furries should be inside. If outside on a leash on in a secure area. I will say though....we did have one kitty who was a outside only kitty. We tried to make her an inside girl...but after 3 days she got mean and attached us. I mean she was nuts!!!!!! We cried, cause we wouldn't let her outside afraid she would get run over....we didn't want to take her to the humane society...cause we knew she would be put down....we cried some more. Than my daughter thought...I have a friend that lives on a farm way back off the road...they have many barn cats....let me call them. We and Miss KItty were in Luck they said bring her over. She fit right in.....and still does. She is a very happy outside....live in barn cat. She knows she safe...gets lots of food....and has people around her for attention...when she wants it. So sometimes you do what you have too.
Hope We haven't offended anyone, but we all have our opinions on this matter.
We feel the same way, Ruffy, it's not safe for kitties to be outside, but we try not to judge others. Mom had a kitty many years ago that she tried to keep inside. He ran out the front door every chance he had. There are some kitties that are so intent on being outside. We are allowed outside in our backyard with supervision. Mom can see how much we love being outdoors. We chase bugs and roll in the dirt. She also knows it's not safe, so she keeps us inside when she can't be there to supervise us. She could not live with the guilt if something were to happen to one of us.
I used to be an indoor-outdoor kitty, but I became indoor-only a long time ago, when we moved somewhere with more cars and coyotes. And I am by far the oldest kitty our family has had - all the kitties are gonna be indoor-only from now on. Outside is fun, what with the birdies to kill and all, but it is more dangerous.
We feel the same way, we are all indoor kitties. I watch the outside world go by and I dream of hunting those birdies. I wish more people who keep their kitties indside.
We are all indoor kitties here. Sweets' shelter and Taag's expressly stated that we must be such in their adoption *contracts.*
Contracts which we signed and take seriously...
But, with that said, there are areas of the world (expressly the UK and New Zealand) where letting cats live indoor/outdoor lives is seen as the majority *norm.*
Understanding the contracts that we signed, where we live, and how busy our local adjoining streets are, for us, it would be irresponsible to allow an indoor/outdoor life.
At the end of the day, all we really get to decide is "what's best for us."
I am a strictly indoor kitty after being found abandoned as a wee kitten.....I was so scared and hungry and..... I luv my indoor life and have no interest in going outside.....too dangerous......it makes my meowmy very sad when she sees dead kitties because they are someones pet..... I have to contend with 3 neighbor cats who come over and taunt me......not good I tell ya.....
Amen. It is just too dangerous out there. It hurts effury time we hear of or read about a kitty disappearing and the anguish that their humans go through trying to find them and purraying against all odds they'll come home safe.
