Videos We Love: 5 Cats Getting a Jump on Shedding Season

It’s been a long, cold February snuggled up with our cats in their furry winter coats, but spring is just around the corner. Along with warmer days, leaves on the trees, and flowers in the yard, the changing of the seasons brings at least one bit of bad news: The resurgence of shedding season. As our cats drop fur like they’re getting paid, we’re left with cat-hair tumbleweeds blowing across the kitchen floor — and the sometimes unpleasant chore of brushing our cats.

Fortunately, not all cats hate being brushed. Here are five cats who groove on grooming.

1. Pudge loves being brushed

Adorable calico Pudge enjoys her grooming sessions so much that she lies on her back, smiling and purring, for most of this video. At one point, she sighs in much the same way I do when I sit down to watch Law & Order after working for 10 hours straight. This is clearly Pudge’s happy place.

2. Being brushed is complicated

Daily grooming stirs such complex emotions in this tortoiseshell cat that she starts speaking in tongues.

3. Theo goes with the flow

Theo the cat is amazing. He allows his owner to plop him down on a pillow belly-up and start raking through his thick, black fur with a comb. If I did this to either of my cats, I’d be bleeding within seconds.

4. Bobo defies all logic

Whereas 99 percent of feline-kind fears and despises the vacuum cleaner as though it has in some way offended them personally, Bobo the cat represents the opposite end of the spectrum. Lying on his back, Bobo allows his human to vacuum his toes and belly floof. If I tried this, my cats would demand to see me charged with felony assault.

5. Weird cat loves being vacuumed

Clearly Bobo is not the only feline freak who enjoys being suctioned clean. The 21-year-old cat in this video follows the vacuum around the house, waiting for her opportunity to get carried away — literally, as the vacuum’s power at times lifts her front paws off the floor. Don’t miss the part where her entire tail disappears into the tube — and she couldn’t look happier. What a weirdo.
