“Do you have any animals?”

That’s a common question put to people who stop by Catster and Dogster HQ.

Soon we might start asking this one also: “Do you have any animal tattoos?”

We’ve done one roundup story on the animal tattoos of Catster editors and writers, and today we have a follow-up on one of those.

Eliot Weisberg, a video production specialist for SAY Media (Catsters pawrent company) already had most of his right calf devoted to his his cat Wellington (shown above). Now he has his left side inked with an ornate portrait of his other cat, Beef. (We’ll show you that one in a minute.)

When we interviewed Eliot in July 2011, he said he got the tattoo of Wellington after having the kitty for only two months.

“He’s such a big part of my life and the largest contributing force behind my happiness and positivity,” he said. “The tattoo is way for me to display that.”

Soon after, Eliot revealed that he was saving money to immortalize Beef.

Tattoo artist Erik Jacobsen of Idle Hand sketched this design based on a photo of Beef taken by Eliot.

“My tattoos were both based on photos taken by me,” says Eliot, who takes pet portraits in San Francisco. (Visit his website here.)

Here’s Jacobsen hard at work on Eliot’s leg.

Here’s Beef’s portrait with the surrounding color work still to be done.

Here’s the real Beef posing near his living portrait.

A couple of weeks later, Beef is complete. The portraits make a lovely pair, we think.
