Kong is one of the best-known pet product manufacturers out there. It’s perhaps best known for its line of stuffable dog toys, but it has an entire catalog of stimulating and enriching cat and dog toys. The company also manufactures treats and has a line of cat and dog brushes. Today we’ll take a closer look at their brush, specifically designed for the felines in your life.

The Kong Cat Zoom Groom is an affordable cat brush with a unique (and adorable) look. This cat-shaped brush is made of a durable rubber material to provide cats and their owners with a firm yet flexible brushing experience. In addition, the Zoom Groom is great for removing hair and giving cats a spa-like massage experience with every grooming session.

Great for Bath Time

Not only does the Kong Cat Zoom Groom work fantastic for removing loose hair and preventing tangles, but it can also be used during baths, too. Apply a small amount of cat-friendly shampoo to the brush and glide it through your cat’s wet hair in a circular motion. This provides a soothing massaging sensation while also cleansing your kitty’s fur. Don’t forget to rinse all the shampoo out when you’re done.

Magnetic-Like Bristles

The Zoom Groom features soft and rubbery “fingers” that work like a magnet to pull away loose fur and dander. Regularly grooming with this brush can prevent hairballs from forming while also conditioning the skin, promoting a healthier coat.

The “bristles” are firm yet flexible. They’re ¾-inch long, which allows them to reach far down into your pet’s coat to massage the skin, putting them into a blissful state during your at-home grooms. The gentle massaging action can also calm stressed or anxious cats, which can come in handy during traumatic situations like visits to the vet or car rides.

Stimulates Oil Production

The firmness of the bristles allows for a massage-like experience for your kitty, but they also can stimulate your pet’s capillaries and natural oil production. Then, when you brush your kitty, you’ll distribute its natural oils all over its coat for a beautiful shiny finish.

KONG - Cat ZoomGroom

Is this brush dishwasher safe?

Kong products are designed to be washed in your sink with warm water and soap. You can use a bottle brush or toothbrush to get in the grooves if your pet’s fur gets stuck there. Then, allow it to air dry.

Does it fit well in your hand?

This brush is small yet ergonomic in design, allowing the user to hold it comfortably in their hands. In addition, it is easy to grip, so it will not slip out of the user’s hands.

What life stage is this brush suitable for?

The Zoom Groom is great for both kittens and adult cats.

Does this brush work for removing mats?

While the Zoom Groom is fantastic for preventing mats from forming, it isn’t the most effective option for removing mats.

Is this brush designed for cats only?

While the Zoom Groom was designed specifically for cats, there is no reason why it couldn’t be used on dogs. The same applies to Kong’s Zoom Groom for dogs; it was made for pups but can be used successfully on cats.

Online shopping has transformed the way we shop. One of the best things about it is that we can view hundreds, if not thousands, of product reviews from real consumers before deciding whether to buy a product or not. While this can be extremely helpful when making buying decisions, it can also feel very overwhelming.

That’s why we scoured the internet to see what real consumers had to say about the Kong Cat Zoom groom.

Cat owners who love this brush find it comfortable to hold and easy to use. Their cats don’t find the bristles too rough on their bodies, making grooming sessions easier for both the kitty and owner. In addition, the brush removes a lot of hair with every use, which is exactly what it was designed to do. The massaging effect of the Kong Zoom Grooms has converted cats who previously hated being groomed by their owners into brush-loving aficionados.

Consumers who didn’t care for the Kong Zoom Groom reported that the brush removes hair but doesn’t trap it. This leads to loose hair floating around or sticking to the owner doing the brushing. Also, the brush isn’t great for removing mats. Finally, because the bristles are so long, this product isn’t the most efficient option for pet owners with cats with short hair.

Conclusion

The Kong Cat Zoom Groom is a highly affordable cat brush with many redeeming qualities. It is fantastic for removing loose hair and providing a massage-like experience for your kitty but it is not the best at trapping the hair once it is removed.

The Zoom Groom 2-in-1 design makes this brush a clear winner, especially for people with longer-haired cats. Though, if your cat’s coat tangles or mats easily, you may want to pair this brush with a de-matting comb for the best results.

  1. I have used zoom grooms for years. My older zoom is softer, more like silicone…. have they changed? My present fur baby likes the softer one with worn down nubbies. They are all so so different. Bottom line, your ZOOM product is great….. Well, the cats meow. Thanks
