While there are plenty of names that start with E that are great choices for cats, they are slightly less popular than those that begin with other letters of the alphabet, but there are still several excellent names to consider that made waves in several trending categories.

The 10 Most Popular Cat Names That Start With E

1. Eric

Eric is a classic name that’s full of tradition and gravity. It rose in popularity by 47% in 2023, thanks partly to strong interest in movies. Many pet parents named their buddies Eric in honor of the handsome prince in Disney’s animated film The Little Mermaid.


2. Este

Names drawn from the music world stayed popular in 2023, including several Taylor Swift-related choices that trended upward, like Swift, Karma, and Taylor.

Este rose in popularity by a stunning 110%! The name is related to the storyline of one of Swift’s songs, No Body, No Crime, from her incredibly popular Evermore album.


3. Enid

TV-inspired names remained hot in 2023, and the supernatural fun of the television show Wednesday inspired plenty of cat parents when naming kitties. Names such as Gomez and Morticia made several appearances in the feline set. The name Enid increased in popularity by 110% in 2023. It’s the name of Wednesday’s best friend and roommate at school.


4. Evermore

Evermore was massively popular in 2023; the trending name increased by 193% over the year before. Evermore is the name of an album released by Taylor Swift in 2020 that received positive reviews from critics and a warm welcome from fans.


5. Elon

Tech-inspired names have been all the rage for quite a while, but Apple, Siri, Chip, and Alexa had more traction than usual in 2023. Some cat owners named their companions after Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and owner of X, but the name decreased in popularity by 30%.

6. Eevee

Interest in names inspired by the game Pokémon rose in 2023. Pet parents regularly tapped choices such as Shinx, Mew, and Misty. Eevee increased in popularity by 24%, earning a solid place on the list of top trending Pokémon-inspired cat names. Eevees are furry Pokémon characters with large ears and adorable bushy tails.


7. Earth

Pet parents turned in mass to names inspired by aliens and space exploration in 2023. While the name Earth increased in popularity by 193%, several other amazing options also trended upward, such as Catsanova, Saturn, and Space Cat.

Planet and Marvin the Martian are two space- and alien-related names that burst onto the scene for the first time in 2023. Earth is a mere three planets away from the Sun.


8. Eddie

The name Eddie rose by about 6% in popularity in 2023, likely due to increased interest in names related to all things 90s, including old-school grunge, hip hop, and glam metal masters.

Eddie Van Halen was the gifted guitar player for the legendary band Van Halen, whose album 1984 featured hits such as Jump and Hot for Teacher.


9. Elizabeth

While tech-inspired names stayed solidly on the grid in 2023, Elizabeth decreased in popularity by about 9%. Elizabeth Holmes is an entrepreneur who founded Theranos, a biotechnology firm that ended up running into trouble with the United States government and investors.


10. Earth Creature

Earth Creature made the list of trending space and alien names for the first time in 2023. It was also a good year for titles related to planets such as Neptune and Venus. A famous sign featuring the phrase, “Earth Creature in their native habitat,” appeared in an episode of the TV show The Twilight Zone.
