The first column I ever wrote for Catster was on the topic of cat leggings. At the time, they were quickly becoming a staple of my cat lady blogger wardrobe, and I waxed poetic on the virtues on wearing the cat-fashion non-pants.
A year later, my enthusiasm for the controversial fashion choice has not waned, and more designers than ever are offering the cutest, quirkiest, and most intergalactic cat leggings yet!
1. Wild Catalope Leggings
Bark Decor has long been a favorite of mine due to its signature Wild Catalope designs. Back in September, I featured the quirky Etsy shop’s “catalope” clothing and home decor, inspired by the mythical jackalope (a jackrabbit with antelope horns) and featuring a unique feline twist.
These leggings are the only pair I’ve encountered that offer a sweet surprise — instead of appearing on the front, the curious creatures peek out from behind your boots. They’re printed with eco-friendly water based inks on black cotton and spandex American Apparel leggings. If you want to mix it up, they’re also available in camel and grey.
2. Space Cats Leggings
Intergalactic cats are already inexplicably cool, and these spacey leggings by Supayana fit right into the crazy cat lady universe. Give me a pair of boots and a top long enough to cover my butt, and I’m ready to embark on a space adventure, nine cat lives in the making.
Supayana’s leggings feature her very own kitty’s face floating around the stars. She originally conceptualized the print for babies, but upgraded to adult sizes when her friends started clamoring for pairs of their own. The eye-catching design is digitally printed and made to order by the designer herself in Montreal.
3. Kitten Print Leggings
I recognize that not everyone is ready to leave the house looking like a cat-astronaut, but who could resist a little kitten-on-the-knee action?
I’m a longtime fan of The Petite Chouette’s adorable feline-themed creations, made with love all the way from Germany. Her latest pieces include these hand-printed kitty leggings in dark green, purple, and black, and are a cute way to incorporate kittens into your springtime look.
4. Multicat Leggings
Neon shades and Persian cats are a weakness of mine, bringing me back to the days of Lisa Frank, stirrup leggings, and those plastic clips that you attached to the bottom of your T-shirt to look cool. Mix them all together in modern day, and you end up with the edgy looks of Latvian brand QooQoo, who know how to bring the cats with a healthy dose of nostalgia.
These dreamy neon pastel leggings feature a clowder of grumpy Persians, encircling your calves in style. If you’re on the hunt for even more body conscious cat-inspired looks, be sure to check out their Big Puss swimsuit and dress, for a similar, summery vibe.
5. Fresh Take Leggings in Tabby
A good, solid tabby cat will never let you down, and since you can’t accessorize with a kitty, splashing them all over your legs just might be the next best thing!
These semi-sheer, polyester, and elastane leggings from ModCloth may not be a substitute for actual pants, but don’t let that stop you from wearing them loud and proud. The smiling black-and-gray-striped kitties have stylish red collars and sweet white spots on the tips of their tails. I can’t promise they won’t be a distraction, because who’d be able to stop gazing down at these pretty kitties all day long? I dare you to buy a pair and not spend hours assigning a name and personality to each one.
