A new study suggests lorazepam may offer vets a promising new strategy after a cat’s first urinary blockage — a life-threatening emergency that can return soon after treatment. Researchers studied 80 male cats, giving them either lorazepam or a placebo for 30 days. Of the 72 cats that completed the trial, 5 re-blocked — and all were in the placebo group.
