Seven Adorable Interspecies Love Videos for Valentine's Day
My own cats can barely manage to get along, yet somehow these extraordinary felines put their differences aside and openly show affection for other animals, great and small.
These seven adorable videos — showcasing some of my favorite interspecies friendships of all time — are sure to paw, kiss, and nuzzle their way right into your heart this Valentine's Day!
Murkin was just a shy puppy when he was adopted from the shelter, but now the handsome pup is a big ol' lovebug whose favorite activities include naps, long walks on the beach, and cuddling and snuggling with baby kittens!
This rare interspecies smoochfest was caught on tape in 1997 at the Theater of the Sea marine animal park in Islamorada, Florida. Dolphins Shiloh and Thunder bob in and out of the water to nuzzle against Arthur the cat, who playfully paws them back, much to the delight of onlookers.
The way this kitty earnestly rubs his head against his bunny friend is almost too much to take, and the sweet soundtrack makes it all the more poignant. If there's one thing cats can take away from this video, it's to be careful not to roll over on your friends!
It's easy to see how a fluffy bunny might make a good sleeping companion, but what's the attraction between these strange bedfellows? Watch as Puppet the cat protectively wraps his arms around Puff the bearded dragon before the two settle in for a sun-drenched nap.
Sometimes it's nice to help a friend get those hard-to-reach spots, you know? That appears to be the case in this video out of Arnold's Wildlife Rehab in Okeechobee, Florida, where a young deer took it upon himself to give his kitty friend an impromptu tongue bath.
While their relationship may look one paw away from ending at times, the playful pair of Fum the cat and Gebra the owl obviously have a great time goofing off together, as long as everyone's claws stay in!
In this charming video from South Africa, Mama Kit-Kat had just come to the rescue of some newborn squirrels who had fallen out of a tree. The beautiful kitty nursed the tiny babies back to health while her curious kittens enjoyed playing with their unusual new foster siblings.
