It's been a LONG TIME since I was stuck in that silly tree. For quite a while I stayed away from trees completely, but finally, Smokey Cat decided to help me out a bit and teach me how to climb DOWN.
Apparently I learned okay. I have been traveling down into the lab pen with Smokey Cat lately when Mom goes down there with the dogs. I must admit, for the most part those dogs are pretty fun. And, after a while they do learn to watch the claws, MOL! I pretty much just need to turn and face them and slowly lift up my front paw if they get out of hand now.
But, every once in a while I do find it in my best interests to quickly climb a tree. Especially if there are two or three of them coming at me at the same time...that gets scary!
There is a HUGE cedar tree down in the lab pen that is totally dead. It is really fun to climb because you can see a million miles from up there. And, unlike that silly maple I climbed this Summer, that cedar has nice, soft bark that grabs my claws so I don't slip at all.
Today Smokey Cat and I were sunning ourselves up in that cedar tree. Mom took all the dogs back to the house, and gave a long, lingering look back at me up in that tree. Smokey Cat quickly got down and headed for the house and I am SURE Mom thought I was stuck up there.
I KNOW she thought that, cuz about ten minutes later, she stuck her head out the door and called me. Surprise, I was right there on the porch, waiting for her to let me in, MOL!

Last week I had a sore foot. I hobbled around all day Thursday and Friday. Friday night Mom checked my foot and couldn't see anything wrong with it at all! She thought it might be slightly swollen on the big pad so she put some bacitracin on it and wrapped it with some bandaids.
Saturday morning I was better and would at least rest my foot on the floor, but I was still pretty quiet. Mom was gonna take me next door to the vets but she was alone at work and they have the same hours we do on Saturdays.
Sunday there wasn't much change and I pretty much stayed on the bed all day. Monday morning I was SICK as a dog, MOL! I was dehydrated, had a high fever and couldn't/wouldn't eat and now my BACK FOOT hurt like crazy.
Off to the vets where they found my fever was 104.6 and they gave me a shot of antibiotics and fluids. In the afternoon they called Mom and said my fever was down and I could go home with antibiotics but they had NO IDEA what was wrong. Mom said she would get me after work.
An hour later they called and now my fever was 105.7 and I was very sick. They did the combo testing and I was negative for all those cat diseases, WHEW!!! But, they said I had to stay.
When Mom got out of work she called and I was a bit better so they let me go home. I did eat some food, and I slept on Mom's bed all night long without moving. Yesterday I stayed in my cat bed all day long, but got up when Mom got home. I was still feverish, too.
Today, I am a bit better... in fact, I even snuck outside, but once I was out there I didn't have the strength to even climb over the dog kennel fence. Mom grabbed me and put me back in the house.
Mom is going crazy... the vets have NO IDEA what is wrong other than that I must have an infection somewhere. While my feet hurt, they LOOK perfectly fine. Mom says I act like I have lyme disease BUT that cats aren't supposed to get it, according to the vets. BUT, I DID have some deer ticks a few weeks ago!
Hopefully, tomorrow I will be all better cuz I am getting sick of Mom stuffing those antibiotics down my throat twice every day!!!

Yesterday morning I climbed out my little in/out puppy door, climbed up the kennel fence, walked along the top railing, climbed onto the Chickie house, slid down the front of it and climbed over the end fence. Whew, sounds like a ton of work just to go outside!!!
I had a good day out there with Joey and Smokey. Mom trapped the gray kitty and put her in the kennel for the Winter cuz she is now at least 19 years old and the cold bothers her. Even though she has been here 10 years she STILL won't let anyone touch her so Mom had to trap her!!!
Anyway, it got dark and Smokey cat came inside. Mom couldn't find me, though!
She was getting worried when it was bedtime and I still didn't come inside. She kept checking all night, but I was no where to be found.
This morning she called and called and I still didn't show up. NOW, Mom was really worried!!! As soon as she got out of work, early cuz it's her afternoon off, she decided she HAD to walk along the road and make sure I wasn't there. Nope, I wasn't so she went all around the house, checking the tops of all the trees. No Dijon!
Mom was working in her bedroom changing her Summer clothes with her Winter ones all afternoon, but she kept calling and calling me. She did check the cellar and the guest room but I wasn't shut in either of those.
Finally, Mom was in her closet which is next to the stairs up to the second floor. We don't use that floor cuz there is no electricity up there. No one EVER opens the door at the foot of those stair EVER! But, suddenly, Momsie heard my tell tale meow. She answered, and I meowed even louder!!
She opened the door and OUT I SPRANG!!!!
Our house used to be part of the underground slave railroad and there is a secret room up over the shed. Mom says I apparently climbed up into the top of the shed, walked a beam over to that room and somehow came in the little door when the slaves went in. She THOUGHT that door was closed and nailed shut, but apparently it is not. It was too dark to check on it today, but she will soon!
Meanwhile, I was soooo happy to be out of there! It was a bit better than the tree, but still dark and lonely and I was hungry!!!

Mom was totally surprised when, after my big tree scare, I immediately snuck right back outside the very next day! I will admit, I haven't climbed up anymore trees lately, but I am sure enjoying the great outdoors.
I am not like Smokey, though. I have a way to get BACK INSIDE all by myself. You see, I discovered that those lab puppies have a in/out door in their inside pen and if I just push on it, it magically opens and I can run right out, climb over their chain link pen, walk along the top of the other fence over to the chicken house and slide down the chicken house and freedom is MINE!
Usually, as soon as I get out there Smokey comes along and we head off to the big field to explore. I have caught a few mousies for Mom...I usually leave them (or at least parts of them, MOL) right in front of the porch door. She can't miss them when she lets the dogs out, unless of course, the dogs eat them first!!!
Every night Mom comes outside and sits on the porch and watches the dogs and the chickens. Well, Smokey and I have decided she can watch us, too! We usually go out with the chickens and chase them around a bit. They aren't scared of us at all, so it isn't too much fun to chase them, but it gives Mom something to watch!
Paisley is still a bit wimpy about the great outdoors. One day she went out the front door and sat on the front porch but Mom caught her chasing the gray kitty that lives out there and made her come back inside.
This weekend Mom and Julia were cleaning the Summer kitchen so they left the door to the dog yard open. Paisley did manage to go out that open door and run around a bit, but she didn't stay out long like me and Smokey.
Mom HATES that we go outside, but there isn't too much she can do. We promised we would stay on the back side of the house and so far we have.
And, I promised I wouldn't climb ANY TREES!!!!

What a week it has been! Last Wednesday night I snuck out the porch door when Mom was taking out the trash. She tried to call me back in, but, I am a scardey cat and ran away. Mom doesn't know for sure what happened after that, but all night she kept calling me and I was gone.
The next day Mom and Tonya went looking for me and heard me meowing over by the kennel. After looking around, they discovered me about 30 feet up in a BIG TREE!!!
Mom wasn't too worried...she left some food and water under the tree and expected me to come down when it got dark.
Friday morning I was still up the tree. This time she and Tonya and Sarah got a really long, long pole and hitched the catch pole to it and Tonya climbed a ladder and the tried to snag me out of the tree. Didn't work...I went higher up. Mom was getting worried! Later, Tonya's husband came and they tried some more and they called the fire department but no one could help.
Saturday, I was still up at the tippy top and getting very weak!! Now Mom was frantic but didn't know what to do. Suddenly, a whole bunch of people came with longer poles and ropes and other stuff. they tried everything they could think of, but nothing worked at all. They even had a vet with them and she said I would pass out and crash to the ground soon as I was definitely getting shaky.
Mom told them to saw down the tree!!! So, they started the big saw and I was really scared now! Aft a while, the tree started shaking and then it was falling!!! It was falling very, very slowly and suddenly crashed into another big tree and then fell to the ground. Mom raced overe to grab me, but...no way was I letting anyone touch me. I ran over and climbed over the fence and hid in the woods.
Mom wouldn't let anyone look for me...she put some food and water out and brought my best cat friend, Smokey, down to the woods. All night she kept calling me, and, finally she propped open the door. At daybreak she got up and came out and called me again, then went back inside.
But...I heard her so I came in the open porch door sand screamed for her to let me into the house. She did, I raced into the bedroom and I thanked her over and ov and over for rescuing me!!!
I am perfectly fine, except for being VERY skinny and tired. I am NEVER climbing up another tree!!!

Well, I caught a few more of those mousies. They are DIRTY, so I left them in Mom's computer chair. I am not sure she was so happy cuz the mousie was the same color as the chair and she didn't see it and SAT ON IT!!!! I laughed, but she didn't!
After a few days those remaining mousies got really smart and I couldn't seem to catch them so Mom put some snappy things in the cupboards. She caught FOUR mousies.
When I realized how easy it was for her to catch them I decided I wasn't gonna waste MY time catching any more of them. They ARE dirty, you know!!!
As for outdoors, I do not do that!!! I tried it a few times but couldn't see the appeal. It is too bad because MY favorite thing in the whole world is following MY hero, Smokey. Now that he is outside most of the time I am lonely!!!
But, as soon as he walks in the door I race over, press up against him and slide to the floor beside him. If he moves, I do it again and again and again. No matter where he goes, I follow and press up against him.
Finally, he gets the message and lets me sleep with him. I LOVE my Smokey cat!!!!

OMC, I have discovered the very, very best toy in the whole wide world! You see, I normally sleep in the kitchen cuz there is a nice doggy bed there that I enjoy. Well, the other night I was calmly sleeping away and suddenly, I heard MY dish of cat food, up there on the counter by the sink, rattling.
Assuming it was Paisley or Smokey, I opened one eye and peered over there. Hmmmm, all I saw was a little gray nose and TONS of whiskers. I drew closer to observe... the little creature raced down and went UNDER the counters. Hmmmmmm again, this bears watching. This little beast was eating MY food!!!
After what seemed like an eternity, the little mousie poked his head out again. (Smokey told me those are Mousies.) I jumped at him and grabbed him, hehehe! Just then, Mom came wandering thru the kitchen, saw me, saw the mousie, and was very, very happy!!! She was patting me and telling me how good I was so I decided this was a good thing.
I already caught another one tonight. Mom was in the other room so I left it right in her computer chair for her. Hope she is still happy, MOL!

Anyhow, in honor of our bigger bodies Mom says she is going to invite Julia down this weekend to take some new photos of all three of us. They are also going to have a yard sale.
I hope they do sell our yard. I am getting really BORED with looking at the same one all the time, it will be nice to get a new one, MOL!

Today both Paisley and I were watching Smokey marching around in the big outdoors. It really looked like fun, but so far, the only time I've tried it there was cold, white stuff all over the ground!!!
However, this afternoon Mom took the dogs down in that lower field to play. I noticed the kitchen door wasn't quite shut tight so I kept sticking my leg out and trying to make it more open.
I didn't know Mom was so observant... she was WAY, WAY down in the corner of the field but apparently, she saw my leg moving so she peered thru the LONG lens on her camera and discovered both me and Paisley with our noses out the crack in the door. Naturally, she took a photo so we couldn't deny it!!!
Frankly, I think a good plan of attack might be for all three of us to head out a different door. No way, no how could Mom EVER follow all three of us, she wouldn't know which way to go first, hehehe! We could have a prearranged meet-up place, maybe Joey would invite us into his shed.
But, I do have one question for Smokey... if it is so wonderful and nice outside, why in the world does he always let Momsie catch him???? I think he must be askerdided out there, don't cha think???

Big goings on in our house lately. Mom got a BIG box and put it in the puppy pen. Me and Paisley helped!! Then, she put some shavings in the box, and got a BIG red lamp that makes it warm and hung that over the box. Next, she put some little feeders in the box and a water bottle.
Hmmm, about this time me and Paisley hopped into the box to check it out. It was a problem...the sides of the box were so high that Mom had to come rescue us!!! Right after that she got a BIG SCREEN and put it right over the box and hitched it down with a bungee cord.
Next, I heard some little "peep, peep, peep" noises. Surprised, I checked it out and they were on the computer!!! BUT, Toto, who is older and more experienced (and nice enough, for a dog), told me that Mom was getting some baby birds and they had to stay in the house for about 6 weeks! And, he said they DO make that "peep, peep, peep" noise, just like those ones on the computer did.
I can't wait...I bet it will be so much fun to try and catch one or two of those chicks!!! Somehow, I bet Mom won't let us just help ourselves to them, though. She is such a spoilsport!
HEY, I have heard that you can use chicken feathers to catch trout??? Anyone know if that is true? We LIKE trout, they are good to eat!!!

What a difference a few weeks can make. Mom says my socialization was a success and I am no longer askerdid of everything and everyone. I now climb up on anyone coming into the house and I sleep right on Mom's shoulder every night.
Truth is, I was NEVER a scaredy cat, I was just at that age that boy kittens and boy puppies get... it's called a fear stage and it usually happens when we are about 12 to 14 weeks old...MY AGE!!!
Anyway, I wasn't really askerdid, either, I was merely reticent, which means reserved, not askerdid. Because life continued as normal and I was exposed to normal stuff happening, I adjusted to my reticence and overcame it.
Mom says girl kittens and girl puppies can also get these fear stages, BUT they are usually a bit younger than us boys when they get them AND, they usually aren't quite as serious as us boys. Could be cuz us boys are more serious by nature???

Today I went along to work with Paisley. We visited with Julia cuz she didn't have school, and we played with Jimmy, too.
BUT... when I got to work I was totally scared and wouldn't let ANYONE hold me or love me. I tried to hide where ever I could, and ran away when I saw Julia with the camera.
Mom said that is pretty normal for me being a boy cat at my age to go thru a fear period. She said I just needed MORE socialization so she had both Julia and her mother hold me and hold me and hold me.
Of course Julia with Mom's camera in hand, just couldn't hold me... she had to take that silly blue knit hat and make me wear it. NONE of us like that hat... Beanie doesn't like it either. Soo, I discussed it with Jimmy and since he stays at work overnight, he is going to work on making it disappear tonight. One of the daycare dogs ate his rug today so Jimmy is going to put the hat in HIS cage. He comes in really early in the morning so he will be able to eat it before Mom comes over and finds it with him, hehehe!
Now I am back home, all tired out from my social events. Mom says it must have worked because I ran right up to her when she got home from work. Of course I did...she always feeds us when she gets home, MOL!

Today Julia came down to visit for the afternoon. When they came home from work she had a whole bag of cat toys. She also had a carrier with her and when she set it on the floor out hopped a cute longhaired gray kitten from work.
I actually remembered him... when I came back from Laurie's house Mom put me in with him. But, then when she decided I was coming home she put him with another kitten that was over there. Well, that kitten got adopted on Thursday so now he is all alone over there.
Since it is a long weekend Mom decided he could come play with us for the weekend. Cool! Anyway, back to me!
Did you notice how many new photos I got??? Julia said I was the very, very best to photograph!!! Mom says it is because my colors are lighter and sharper so I look better??? Dunno, I think it's my bubbly personality that makes the difference, don't you????
Anyway, Paisley got the fewest new ones cuz she has a way of looking MAD in her pictures. Something about her eyes, no doubt? Mom says we are both crosseyed, MOL!!
Well, I am exhausted from all that work this afternoon so I am off for a catnap so I will be WIDE AWAKE to welcome in the New Year!!! My resolutions??? Bug Mom, of course, MOL!

Today Mom decided she needed to take my Christmas photos since everyone else had some except me! So, Tonya came over to the house and got both me and Paisley. She also got Beanie so he could have some photos with us, too.
When we got to work it was pretty quiet over there so we played with the girls first. Finally, it was time for our photos. Mom said it did not go too well. Unlike Paisley, I did not want to stay on that table!!! By the time I decided to stay there, Paisley decided SHE didn't want to be up there anymore, go figure!
Anyway, Mom finally got a few photos she said were okay. Notice my primary Holiday one... I was booking off that table but Mom's new camera is a bit too fast so it caught me! By the time we got to the ones with Beanie I was all calmed down and sat nicely but Paisley was being an idiot! Oh well, I think they are fine!
Hey, did we tell you that Mom took away our baby cage??? Now we get to have the WHOLE HOUSE, day and night!!! Both Paisley and I have discovered how comfy it is to sleep on Mom's warm waterbed. Nice, very, very nice!
And, cuz we are little, we run really fast and make it to the cat food before the big guys get theirs. We do usually leave some for them, MOL!
Well, gotta go play with Paisley now... the heat is on so we are having a wrestling match on top of the register. Cozy warm! I'm winning, by the way.

This place is the greatest!!! I get to play with my sister anytime I want to and Mom got us lots of toys and stuff for our room.
Best of all, us kittens can fit right thru the baby gates so we can go EVERYWHERE, even in the dog rooms. It's okay, only Lola is too rough with us, and Lola is leaving for her new home next week... Mom said she could stay in the kennel until she leaves. That works for me!
And, tonight I discovered that when Mom sits at her desk she crosses her feet under her. She wears these neat, fleecy slippers and I climb right up onto her feet and take a warm nap right in the fleece. Nice!
But, Most of the time I sleep in a bed with Paisley. It is right beside the Christmas tree so we can look at the lights while we go to sleep.
Would you believe Mom doesn't even make us stay in our crate at night anymore. She said since we know how to get to the big litterbox and the food and the water we don't need to stay locked up anymore. Before she was worried we would make a mess somewhere OR get hungry in the night.
Mom says we both are pretty skinny but I told her it was cuz we are growing. We are certainly happy to eat, MOL!!
Well, gotta go now, Paisley is calling me to the bed!!

Well, today Laurie brought me to work and Mom said I was old enough to go to my new home. She and Laurie were talking about me, and I was playing with Paisley, my sister.
Well, after a while Mom decided she was going to bring ME home, too, and keep me with Smokey and Paisley.
Yes, she has Joey, but frankly, he was pretty wild when he came and he still is!!! Last night he got cornered in the bathroom and he just about ATE Mom!!!
She says not to worry, she is going to keep him all Winter and when it gets warm, she will let him out with Gray cat, the wild one that lives outside our home. He is obviously NOT happy here with us and the dogs and the dogs are NOT HAPPY with him, either!
Anyway, back to me. Since I got here I have been totally playing with Smokey and Paisley. We are having sooo much fun!!! Paisley showed me all around and now I know where the box is, but more importantly, where the food is, hehehe!!!
Mom took a few photos but she is trying madly to clean the house so I suspect she will take more later!
Glad to meet all of you!!!
