Cla trimming, again

Daddy took me in to get my claws trimmed. This time there was no line and I wasn't hiding under my bed at first. They were able to get me out right away and keep me still as I got trimmed. I didn't fuss or complain. They were so impressed with me!

When it was over and Daddy was looking for a toy for me, I saw some doggies and went under my bed. Even being in a cart didn't help. Then we went to Taco Bell. The wait there was still bad. Everything else was fine. I love my new toy. It's another wand with little brass balls on the end that hit each other.

I hope everyone else is doing well and keeping cool!

Daddy went to the pet store tonight to get some food and he brought home a new toy for us! It's a wand with feathers and ribbons on the end. I love it! I played with it for half an hour and even stole it when he put it away. Lena likes it too but I dominated the play time and wouldn't let her get close. I can't wait to play some more!

DDP again

Well I got a DDP twice in one week. Something is wrong with the selection process. Even if they only pick cats who posted in the past 2 weeks, I'm still getting selected too often. It's hasn't been worth celebrating lately. What makes it special is that it's a rare event. It soon loses its appeal.

Dad's been cooking a lot today. He made chicken stock and just now put the last of it in the fridge to cool. What works best for him is to save chicken bones from when he goes out and freeze them until he's ready to make stock. Then he puts them in the oven for a while to dry them out and kill any surviving germs from when he at the chicken (he's the only one who has it, so it's OK) before putting it in the pot with carrots, onions, etc and let it boil for 5 or so hours. Best part is that since the chicken was already cooked, there's not much fat in the broth to remove before freezing.

He also made pickled onions and a variant of beef bourguignon for lunch this week. But I'll stick to my kitty food. Daddy's really tired now and there's more work to do so we're signing off!

How can I be naughty when I was just napping?

I put Daddy into a panic just now. It's been a few hours since I made an appearance so he went looking for me. He thought I might have been trapped in the garage, but nope, he couldn't find me anywhere in the house. He even went outside and circled the house (drawing attention to the neighbors in the process) to find me. He was getting worried. Then he remembered one of my nap spots, in a closet on top of some boxes. Sure enough I was there in the back, all you could see were my pretty eyes in the darkness. He called and called for me but I didn't come, I was busy. Sorry Daddy for worrying you.

Ahh! Stranger Danger!

Daddy's brother came to visit yesterday on his way to visit his parents and spent the night. I don't know him but I remember him from previous visits and how he'd try to pick me up and hold me. I don't know him so I don't like it! I spent most of the time hiding either under Daddy's bed or in the basement. He's left now and I've come out. I know he means well and I'm just a scaredey cat, but it's going to take a long time before I come out while he's here. I like Daddy's other friends better. They know that I like to be skritched behind the ears and they don't try to pick me up.

Scary morning

This morning some people came into our house and started moving things around, including my homemade cat tree. They had big devices that sounded like a hundred vacuum cleaners! They went all over the house! I hid in the basement then ran upstairs to the bedroom. Dad said they were cleaning all the ducts and making the air better. He's not happy about the cost, but it's part of owning your own home. Plus the previous owners didn't clean the ducts either so it was pretty bad in there . Before they left they sprayed this cleaning thing inside so now the house smells like a hospital. Lena and I have settled down now that the men went away and things are a little nicer here. Dad has cleaned up some more because he says his brother is coming over. We'll let you know how that goes!

Sad News

Dad got the call today from his parents that they had to put their cat, Gus, down yesterday due to advanced FIP. We're very sad around here but we knew it was coming. They said they had to wait 6 weeks or more before getting new kitties to be sure the virus is gone. Dad wouldn't mind if they scrubbed a few areas with bleach and water first to help. Dad hopes that if they adopt again they will have adult cats. They're getting old and any new cats may outlast them so they'd come live with us, but adopting adult cats may keep that from happening. Besides, adult cats like to sit around more and be held, like Sarge did.

Purrs for Gus, the rainbow bridge just got a grumpy old cat who likes to hang out with people. :)

Some bad news and DDP

I got picked for DDP again! Wow! Lena is SO jealous! I got to go in the garage tonight and got some extra pets when Dad was talking with his parents on the phone.

Which brings us to the bad news, their cat, Gus, probably has FIP. It's not official but he's showing the symptoms. Last year they lost their cat, Wally, to it. So the vet things one might have given it to the other while playing or something. We're very heartbroken over this. Gus wasn't the friendliest of cats but he loved hanging out with Dad and his Dad while they watched The Red Green Show on IPTV. Please purr for him and all the sick kitties out there.

Thank you everyone who sent their congrats over my DDP!

More nail trimming

Daddy prepared a lot yesterday to get me out to get my nails trimmed. He closed the door to the bedroom and bathrooms and opened the door to the spare bedroom (where there's no good hiding places). When he came home last night he was ready to block the way to the basement and corral me into the spare bedroom. But what happened is that when I came over for pets I got close enough so he could pick me up and put me in my carrier. We had to wait a loooong time at the pet store. Word got out about the $5 nail trimming and there were lots of dogs there. I hid under my blanket for the first 20 minutes then slowly started to come out once I realized the doggies couldn't get me (but the mini-human was a new experience that I did NOT like). Anyway we had to wait for 45 minutes but it was worth it. I behaved myself pretty well so Daddy kept his promise to take me straight home and not stop for dinner.

I really needed the trim and going there isn't too bad, just a lot of waiting in the carrier.

#3 of DDP

Oh my. This is the third time this month I'm a DDP. And not once for Lena MOL! Daddy slept in today and just saw it. This morning I was hiding on the bed when Lena came by to sit on Daddy. I jumped out and gave her a smackie paw and she ran away! I just want to play.

Yesterday Daddy planted some plants and seeds in pots outside. The weather was very nice. We had the windows open a long time. Some kids came by and I got to watch them. We had several kids move into our street this year. I don't mind them since sometimes they stop on the sidewalk to look at Lena and I.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
