Yesterday I got up the nerve to propose marriage to my beautiful Lily (Catster #647722). Lily just turned three on May 20th, and I will be two in September. I figured we're not getting any younger and I've been a bachelor long enough, so I popped the question.
To see how I proposed, purrlease go to this link: awk/Curlymarriageproposal.jpg

We haven't set the date yet, but plan to tie the knot sometime next month so that Lily can be a June bride. Of course all of our Catster furriends are invited to the wedding, so as soon as the details are worked out, I'll post them in my diary.
I am one happy cat, engaged to marry my Q-tip Queen!

The Cat Show!!!

Today was the big day...the Cat Show! It didn't get off to a very good start: I got carsick on the way to Fresno and threw up in the car! Mommy had to pull over and clean up the mess. Then no sooner she had gotten back on the road, and I had a bathroom accident. How embarrassing is that?! Luckily, I managed to stay pretty clean, but Mommy had to pull over again to clean up the second mess. When we got to the cat show, I'll admit I was pretty clueless about what was going on. I saw more cats than I have ever seen before in one place, but I couldn't play with any of them or even give them a good sniff because they were all being put into cages. And so was I! But Mommy fixed up the cage so nicely with a rug, cat bed, litter box, food and water bowls, and a pretty it was actually very cozy...kind of like having my own little condo.
Princess Kitty's mommy came by to meet Mommy and me, and we visited for a long time. She is very nice, and funny, and she held me on her lap and petted me! She even gave me some Greenies! PK is lucky to have such a nice Mommy.
Much to Mommy's surprise, there were only three other cats entered in the Household Pet division of the cat show. The four of us were judged in six different rings by six different judges. It was a little disconcerting being handled by six strangers, but they were all very gentle so I didn't mind...not much, anyway. Mommy was laughing that at least I was guaranteed to win "Fourth Place". But two judges awarded second-place blue ribbons to me, and the other four judges all gave me FIRST PLACE ribbons! The ribbons say "Best Household Pet" on them! Mommy took a picture and put it on my Catster page. She also took a picture with her cell phone and sent it to Daddy, along with a text message. (I don't know what she said in the text message, but I can guess, MOL!) Mommy has purromised me that I don't have to be in any more cat shows. She says that we accomplished what she set out to do, which was to prove to Daddy that I could win a ribbon in a cat show. But I didn't win a ribbon. I won SIX ribbons!

Cat Show coming up!

The cat show in Fresno (or Furresno, as I call it) is just two days away! Mommy says I have to have another B-A-T-H tomorrow! Bummer!
Mommy wants me to look my handsome best for the show, but I got into a play fight with my brother Lalo a few days ago, and he nailed me but good! I got a scratch on my nose and another one on my ear! Mommy was NOT amewsed! She has been putting peroxide and Neosporin on my boo-boos to make them heal quick, and I think it's working. Now we're just keeping our paws crossed that Lalo will not scratch me anymore. I'll keep everypurr posted on how the cat show goes. I'm happy because my good furriend Princess Kitty (#300218) lives in Furresno and her mommy is going to meet me and my mommy at the cat show! It will be fun to meet another Catster cat's mommy in purrson!

My first B-A-T-H

Well. furiends, on Tuesday I found out what B-A-T-H spells! Even though I have really cleaned up my act since I came to live indoors, Daddy still complained that I had an "outdoor cat" smell, whatever that is. So Mommy bought some special cat shampoo, and she gave me a bath in the kitchen sink. I could not believe what Mommy was doing...The indignity of it all! But she told me that she was very pleased with the way I behaved. (I wriggled some, but I would never bite or scratch Mommy.) And since I dried off, I feel SOOOO good! (Mommy says I smell good, too!) So it wasn't such a bad deal, after all. I just hope we don't have to do that too often!

I'm going to be in a Cat Show!

One day about seven weeks ago, Daddy was making fun of my kinked tail and short legs, and calling me a "freak". Mommy told Daddy that not only am I not a freak, but I am so beautiful and wonderful that when all my boo-boos healed up, I could win prizes in a cat show! (I love Mommy; She really sticks up for me!) Well, I've finally gotten to where that nasty abscess on my chin is completely gone (thanks to the funny pink medicine Mommy's been giving me), and all of the cuts and scratches I had when I first came to live here have disappeared. So Mommy sent in an application for me to enter the Household Pet division of a cat show that will be held in Fresno on May 10th. I don't know anything about cat shows, but Mommy has promised me that it's very different from the dog shows that we see on TV and I won't have to learn how to sit, stay, or heel, or anything like that! (I'm so glad I'm a cat! offense, Dogsters.)
Now Mommy is just hoping that she can keep me from getting any more scrapes in the next three months until the day of the show. She also said that when it gets close to the show date, I will need a B-A-T-H. I don't know what that spells, but it's almost three months away so I won't worry about it right now.
The funny thing is, Mommy has not entered anycat in a show for ten years and decided back then that cat shows weren't really much fun because she said so many of the people with household pets were really, really competitive; She thought that was kind of silly considering that no one is going to make money selling kittens since we all have to be neutered or spayed to be in the show. But in spite of that, Mommy has decided to try a show just this one last time, because she wants to prove to Daddy that other people will think I'm beautiful too. (Daddy loves me now, but he still thinks I'm funny-looking...MOL!)

My Mommy is a Silly Drama Queen! MOL!!

I could not believe it when I came home from my walkabout last night and found that my mommy had actually added a diary entry saying I was lost, and had even asked my Catster friends to purr for my safe return. Okay, okay....So I sneaked out while Mommy was taking out the trash and was gone for about ten hours and didn't come back when Mommy called. Is that any reason for her to get upset??!! I hadn't been outside unsupervised for nearly two months and just wanted to check out some of my old stomping grounds. I had fun, and I certainly didn't mean for my mommy to worry....It never occurred to me that she would freak out like that! Anyway, thank you, my friends, for your purrs. I am home safe and sound....I think I'll go eat something now.
P.S. We're continuing to purr for Mr. D and other kitties who really ARE lost; We hope you will, too!

This is Curly's mom. I am beside myself with worry! Today was the first warm sunny day we have had in weeks. Curly ran outside when I went to take out the trash. He was having a nice time in the sunshine, and I got my camera and took a few pictures of him playing in the yard. Then I picked him up and brought him back inside. Except for this morning and the brief supervised romp in the snow a couple of weeks ago, I have been keeping him strictly indoors since bringing him into the house nearly two months ago. It took a long time for all of his "battle scars" to heal, but he is looking so much better now and I do want to keep him safe and healthy. Around noon, I was cleaning litter boxes and had to make another trip outside. I opened the door for just a second, but Curly must have made a dash for the great outdoors, and I never even saw him run out! I missed him shortly after going back inside, as he usually follows me around through the house and jumps in my lap the minute I sit down anywhere. I have searched and searched, and he is definitely not closed in a closet or anywhere inside the house. I've called and looked outside numerous times, but there is no sign of him. I am worried sick! My husband, who actually admits that he has come to love Curly too, thinks that Curly is just enjoying being outside after being closed up indoors for two months, and that it's too soon to panic. But I can't help it... We live in the mountains where there are coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions. I will be a basket case until he returns safe and sound. Please, fellow Catsters, purr for your sweet precious Curly. He needs to come home NOW!

I've been tagged...again!

I've been tagged by Rudy (In Loving Memory) Catster #481436
This time, instead of making seven wishes, I must tell seven special qualities about myself, and then tag seven other kitties to do the same, and then each of those kitties should send a pawmail to 7 other kitties, letting them know that they have been tagged to play this game.

Here are seven special Curly facts:

1. I used to be able to scare Lalo, until he figured out that I was bluffing. (Now we're best friends.)
2. I'm good at keeping secrets! Before Daddy started allowing me in the house, Mommy used to sneak me inside sometimes when Daddy was at work...It was our secret!
3. I was sent here on a mission from Jimmy-Joe (In Loving Memory) to help heal Mommy's broken heart. Mommy knows this because I made my first appearance at Mommy and Daddy's house in the middle of the night, standing on Boodle Rock (where Jimmy-Joe is buried) just a few weeks after Jimmy-Joe went to the Bridge.
4. I can use my curly tail as a rudder to propel myself up the stairs or wherever I want to go.
5. My tail is twisted in a permanent curl, and my legs are a little shorter than those of most cats my size. (Daddy says I'm a "freak", but Mommy tells me I'm handsome and special!)
6. Mommy thinks I'm so sweet and so good-looking that she's thinking about entering me in a cat show in Fresno next May! (I love my Mommy because she believes in me!)
7. I look like I'm wearing eyeliner, but I swear I am not!

Now I must tag seven other kitties to tell seven special qualities about themselves. I tag:
Scampi (#406892)
Bobbi Boi (#633378)
Sheldon (#661364)
Jeremy (#407899)
Dusty (#449773)
Snickers (#288248)
Lucy (#342263)
