My dear catster friends, a catster icon and a good friend made the journey to the Bridge today. SCOOTER, the co-founder of the Olde Furts Group is an angel now. Even though we are all thrilled to have Scootie join us at the Bridge, we know that her pawrents will miss her very much.

My family and I send our love and deepest sympathy to Bonnie & Dean, who took loving care of Scootie for 20 years. Thank you for sharing Scootie with all of us here on Catster.

Loving purrs, Alex

Hello earthly and bridge-dwelling catsters! Today is a special day! Today is my dear friend SCOOTER'S 20th birthday!!!

Besides being a wonderful friend to me and so many other Catsters, Scooter is the co-founder of one of the best groups on Catster, The Olde Furts Group. Olde Furts is a great group from cats who are 10 years old and older. I can't tell you how much support, education, laughs and comfort my Moms and I got from the Olde Furt group in the final few years of my life.

Happy birthday to a really terrific catster, everycat's friend, Scooter!

Hi Catsters,

It's been three weeks since Alex moved on, and our vet, the fabulous Dr Good will be bringing Alex's ashes home to us today.

The town we live in, Capitola, recently completed a public art project. Residents painted tiles and they were installed on our seawall. The Capitola Seawall Project was originally going to be a way for us to celebrate Alex's 23rd birthday, but now it has become a memorial to him, and we are so happy to have his picture forever on display on Monterey Bay.

I have just posted some photos of it on his page. I hope to get one that will show you all just how beautiful the location is, Alex's picture has a wonderful view across Monterey Bay all the way to Big Sur.

Peace and Love, Rocky (Alex's Mom)

Hullo Catsters! (and Dogsters!)

Thanks to all of you furs who have sent rosies, pmails, voki messages, etc to congratulate me on being a DDP today. What a pleasant surprise!

I wish I had something deep and meaningful to write to you about today, but I am tapped out.

Maybe I'll just do a little list of things I appreciate (in no particular order) :

1) My Vet, Dr Hannah Good. She stayed here for over 2 hours the evening I crossed the bridge. She is a compassionate wonderful person. My Moms feel so fortunate to have her in their lives.

2) Families who spay and neuter their cats and keep them in the house (or only let them go outdoors supervised). There are far too many unwanted kittens being born. Climate change (global warming) is making "kitten season" start earlier and earlier each year. I am so tired of seeing cats running around outside in our neighborhood, killing the songbirds and chasing the rabbits and squirrels.

3) My Catster friends. You guys are why we log onto Catster everyday. So many great folks out there, behind their cats pages. Thank you for being our friends! Your love and support mean the world to us!

Purrs and love from up above, Alex *whoosh*

Hello Catsters! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. My Moms had a busy day. My #2 Mom was supposed to go to Riverside to see my Grandma. My #1 Mom drove her to the airport in Monterey early this morning to catch her flight. She dropped her off and drove back home. (about a 45 minute drive one way)

Well, the plane had mechanical trouble and couldn't take off. The next flight to Ontario, CA wasn't until 5:30pm, about a 10 hour wait. So, almost as soon as she got home, my #1 Mom had to drive back to the Monterey airport and pick up #2 Mom. The silver lining to the story is that the REI Store was having a BIG Labor Day sale, and the store happens to be on the road between Monterey and Capitola. So my Moms stopped and bought some new clothes at 50% off!

Meanwhile, life here at the bridge/heaven is great. And guess what? I knew Obama had picked Biden several days ago! We see EVERYTHING up here! (MOL)

Purrs and heaven-sent kisses, Alex *poof*

Hullo Catsters! It's been one week today since I flew away to the bridge. Things are s l o w l y returning to normal (whatever that is) back on Earth with my Moms and my two little "bothers" (MOL!).

Today my Mom updated my page to reflect my fabulous new "Tenth Life" at the bridge. I'm hangin' with my friends, rubbing elbows with all kinds of cool angels, and basically having a blast.

Who ever the cat was who sent me the very cool "Catster will give you your tenth life" pmail or rosette or gift, I cannot find your pmail, rosette or gift anywhere! I even emailed HQ and they tried to help but couldn't. SO...if you read this, please reveal yourself to me! That "10th life" comment really helped my Moms deal with my transition to the bridge, and was just such a wonderful gift to us.

Raymond and Busby (we call him Bubba) finally started eating again and have begun sleeping in my spot on the couch. I'm glad that they are adjusting, although they seem to be looking for me and they miss me. Especially at dinner time when they would try to share my food!

My Mom's received some wonderful cards in the mail. We want to thank Buddie's Mom and Hazel Lucy's Mom, we so appreciate your love and support.

Hello Catsters & Dogsters,

Thank you all for your kind words, rosettes, gifts, pmails, cards, and emails. We are so moved.

Alex was a special guy. He was one tough little cat. I think his sheer will power kept him going for these past few years. How lucky we were to have him in our lives for 23 years. He and I grew up together. I was a kid of 26 when I got him from the pound.

He had more personality than any cat I have ever know. He was friendly and very talkative. We miss his meows and yowls. He would give you his opinion about everything. Our home is awfully quiet now.

I heard from Ashley's Mom & from Biscuit (Angel)'s Mom, and they both have new kittens that they have named Alex! May these two kittens have long and wonderful lives, as our Alex did. And thank you to both of you for letting us know.

I was touched to hear from Ashley's Mom, as well as Edie's, Cybil's, Isaac's and Cole's. These (and other families) are families who recently lost their beloved cats too. You honor us by remembering our Alex during your own time of grieving.

I have been trying to find the rosette, or pmail or gift or post that somecat left us, it really touched me. It basically said, "Catster will give you your 10th life". I love that concept. Alex maybe gone to the bridge, but Catster will allow him to live his 10th life, to keep meowing in a cyber-sense, and to live on.

Again, thank you for everything. We are so happy to be part of the Catster family, and we appreciate all the love and kindness you have shown us.

xo, Alex's Mom

August 13, 2008

Dear Friends, this evening I made my journey to the bridge. After 23 wonderful years, I was tired and my body was worn out. I have been declining steadily for several months and was ready to move on to the next life. The end was merciful and peaceful. I was at home with my two Moms, my two little brothers, Raymond & Busby and my wonderful vet, Dr Good.

My Moms are mourning my loss, but are happy that I am free.
No more Sub Q fluids, pepcid, or pee pads!

I cannot express how wonderful my 16 months on Catster have been. I have made some wonderful friends and I treasure each and every one of you.

This is not goodbye. I will continue to help Admin the Olde Furts group for as long as Scootie will employ me. However, I will be taking a break from Catster for a while so that my Moms have time to mourn.

To all you Catster Moms and Dads out there, give your cats some extra love tonight from my family & I.

Love and purrs, Alex

Hullo Catsters!

My Mom has been saving the birthday package that I received from BABY and her family because I was exhausted from all the hoopla surrounding my 23rd birthday. Having recovered nicely, I got to open the box today. WOOOO!

Twenty bags of greenies! That's right! 20! TWO-OH! Twenty bags! I now have a lifetime supply of greenies thanks to Baby, Coco, Truman, Ray and their most excellent Mom.

Thank you SO much! Not only do I love greenies, but my two little brothers are also thrilled. They are being extra nice to me in hopes that I will share.

I just posted a photo of me with my greenie stash. Anycat who wants to make the trip here to Capitola is welcome to share the greenie love! Wow! Thanks for being such great friends!

purrs and love, Alex

Hello Catsters, et al...

Last week, when I celebrated birthday number 23, I received a lovely present from Calvin, Samoa, Rocky, Autumn, Gleek, Sugar, Violet & Spunky! They sent me a funny card and two pins, one with a photo of Samoa & one with a photo of Calvin. There was also a very cool felt necklace toy, that my brother Raymond confiscated from me. He is one of Samoa's dreamboats, so he also took the pin with her photo on it. He has been sleeping with it under his pillow.

Later today Mom will put photos on Ray's page of him with the felt necklace toy. He loves it! We had never seen a toy like that before, it's really cool.

Calvin and his family are on a staycation, I sure hope their non-catster catsitter isn't feeding Calvin too much Tiki cat like she did last time. We don't want Calvin to start looking like that 44 pound cat, Princess Chunk.

Purrs and love, Alex
