Daisy's Diary

I knocked over a flower pot!

I can't really remember how it happened, except to say that Emma was chasing me. She is always chasing me. I escaped by jumping up on mommy's Napanee cabinet. There's a nice big flower pot there, with leaves I can hide behind. But not this time! I jumped, and it fell. When mommy got home from work, she found the dirt and the broken pot all over our nice blue carpet. So, she and daddy went to Ikea and got a big huge pot to replace it. It's so big and heavy that I don't think I'll be able to knock this one over! Drat!

And then the worst thing of all.... daddy got out the scary suck monster to clean up all the lovely dirt from the carpeting. I can't buy a break around here!

We found a kitten!

Hi efurbody!

Mommy found a kitten tonight. She's a little teeny calico who was across the street under a tree. Some human ladies were talking to her. My mommy went up to the ladies and asked if the kitten was theirs. They all said no. The kitten is tiny... about 6-8 weeks old and very friendly. Mommy is going to take some pictures and put up signs in the neighborhood to see if she can find out if the kitten is missing from somewhere. Her eye looks a little pink, so mommy may take her to the v-e-t tomorrow.

She's really cute. She's a calico, like me, but with longer softer fur (like Cali). Daddy already gave her a name -- Emma. We'll try to get some pictures up here tomorrow. If we can't find her former family, we may try to find her a home. If anyone in the College Park, MD, area is looking for a kitten, please get in touch.

I turned on mommy's alarm clock

My daddy is a school bus driver. He usually gets up around 4:45 a.m. to get ready for work, and mommy wakes up around 5:00 to see him off. This week is spring break week, so daddy is off from work. And mommy started setting her alarm clock for 6:00. I guess she thought a little extra sleep would be nice.

But.... we cats really LIKE getting fed at the usual time, you know? So, yesterday morning at around 5:15, I figured I had waited enough! I went in the bedroom to wake mommy up. I meowed and scratched the bed, but she just groaned and mumbled. So I, smart cat that I am, got on the night table and bumped up against the radio button on mommy's alarm clock. The music came on as pretty as you please!

Mommy says I'm a smarty pants, but I say I'm not. I don't wear any pants! I'm just a really smart kitty!

I opened a can of cat food!

This morning, my Mommy heard me bustling around in the kitchen. She didn't know what I was doing, so she sat eating her cereal for a few minutes, figuring that I couldn't get into that much trouble. She should learn never to underestimate me!

I have seen Mommy open the cat food cans every day since I came here to live with her. And I figured, how hard can they be to open, you know? Humans aren't that smart, even though they do have those handy opposable thumbs. Anyway, Mommy fed us this morning, but I didn't really like the flavor of food she gave me. So, I decided to try again.

Mommy leaves the cat food cans in a box on the floor. I worked and worked on a can until I was able to lift its pop-top up enough so that the juice from the can started oozing out. This is when Mommy got curious and came into the kitchen to see what I was doing. (If Mommy had been a cat, she would have come into the kitchen sooner, I bet!) Anyway, Mommy hadn't fed my brother Beckham yet, so she gave that can of food to him.

And no, this was good Fancy Feast food, not that pooey Menufoods stuff!

See ya! Daisy (the world's smarted cat)! =^..^=

Attic Adventure

When my Uncle Harold is in town, he likes to putter around the house a lot. Tonight, he pulled a set of stairs out of the ceiling. That was so cool! I had never seen that before, so of course, I had to climb up those stairs into what the humans call "the attic. " A few minutes later, my mommy heard me yowling. She ran down the hall to see what the fuss was about, and down the stairs comes Harold -- holding me, of course. He said he had to go way out into the attic to grab me and bring me back down. And when I got back down, I was itchy all over!

Oh, well, it was fun though!

Love, Daisy Mae

P.S. from Mommy -- Daisy, what if you had gotten stuck up there! You wouldn't have liked it very much!
