Arrival Story: Rugby was caught in a trap and brought to the animal shelter. He was the liveliest and loudest cat there, doing a headstand with all four paws sticking out of the bars and howling at the top of his lungs. He was also the only cat who didn't hiss at our ferret Mocha. He wasn't available the first day we met him, but we came back the day he was. He and Mocha got along really well in the visitation room. He went to the vet to get neutered, then came home with us. Mocha chased him around the house, nipping his legs, so that he would know she was boss, and the next day they were best friends.
Bio: Rugby is named after the stuffed tiger in Jim Hensen's "The Christmas Toy." His original name given at the shelter was "Trapper" (because he was caught in a trap), but we found that highly unoriginal. He comes to his name instead of "Here kitty, kitty." He likes to poke you in the face and neck while you are sleeping and also lick any exposed skin. He hates to be left alone. He likes to go outside and take us for walks on his leash. He likes to eat all insects, especially ones that sting him. He gets along very well with his four ferret siblings, except when they bite him too much. They like to wrestle when you're looking, and lick each other when you're not. He can leap very high. We have a ferret condo as tall as I am (around 5 ft.) and he can jump from the floor and land on top. He likes to take rides in the car as long as he is not in the carrier (harnessed though, of course) to go pick up his daddy at work. He is mommy's little teddybear when she sleeps, when she is sad, and when daddy is gone for long periods of time.

I've Been On Catster Since:
My ferret sister Cuddles recently had stomach surgery to remove an icky hairball. Mommy, Daddy, and I are very busy trying to get her well again. Mommy says it's like having a baby, because they have to feed her every 3 hours. They feed her yummy food out of a syringe that Daddy makes in the blender. I play nice with her when she's out of the cage for exercise, and I even let her sleep in my bed if she gets tired. Hopefully she will get better soon. I must admit I am a little jealous of all the attention she's getting...
Mommy says I have developed an Oedipus complex, whatever that is. All I know is, I REALLY like to sit in her lap and I bug her until she stops whatever she's doing so she will cuddle with me. Every time daddy tries to kiss me, I make a mad face and flinch. I only sit in his lap until mommy comes in the room, and then I switch laps. I just want mommy to myself. Is that so wrong? I pretend I still like daddy to pet me, but what I really want is to have mommy pay attention to me.
I knew mommy wasn't really sleeping, so I licked her armpit until she got up so she would make my page better. Daddy is still tired so we left him to sleep.
Last night they let the ferrets out for a looong time. At the end of the night, Mocha and I put on a big show for mommy and daddy because the other ferts had gone back to their cage to sleep. We pretended we were trying to kill each other, but they weren't fooled. Mommy and daddy know I love my little ferret sister and she loves me. They've caught us licking each other too many times...
