Dogster stats for Tucker - My Forever Smiley Boy
33 times 936
Tucker Monkey, Nub of Love, Pooh Butt, Puppa, Love Bunny
It's a toss up between Mommy or my food.
When my sister Gracie even gets a little bit of attention.
Any of my dollies that have long arms and legs to bite on.
Anything edible and sometimes even my cat sisters poo out of her box. Gotta keep an eye on this boy at all times.
"Sit" is about all he wants to do at his age.
My friend and I had been wine tasting locally and passed a feed store where I saw Tucker in a cage waiting to be adopted. My friend talked me out of it because we'd probably had a few too many glasses of wine and since I'd had cats for over 26 years and never had a dog, it was probably best I wait. I couldn't stop thinking about that little smiley face and I was really looking for another cat, but somehow I was drawn to him and him to me. I went the next weekend to a local high school that was having an adoption and who was there???? Yup, Tucker of course!! I knew then and there that I was not leaving with a cat and that I would leave with a dog that I did not know how to take care of, but somehow I knew everything would be just fine. Tucker walked right to my car like he knew where it was....jumped in the back and settled right in to go to his new home. (Smiling all the way of course.) Not much on where he came from. He'd been shot and had a 22 slug taken out of him and his teeth were ground down. He had also been hit and kicked. I'd never had a dog, but his being a senior dog made the change so seemless and natural.
He came to me with spinal problems, but keeping his weight down and walking him every single day for the last four years has helped him not have to be on Prednisone all the time. Aspirin each day, but not Prednisone. As of 12/27/05 we found out he's got a stage V/VI heart murmor. He's doing okay and we're monitoring him to get the meds right. It's just strange having him slow down so suddenly. 12/26/05 was the last time we took our normal one mile walk. As of 12/2006 we have found out that Tucker is in Chronic Kidney Failure now. We believe it's because he'd eaten tainted petfood w/a combo of all of his many meds. All in all with about 7 meds a day, twice a day, Tucker seems pretty okay for all of his problems and his older age. As long as he keeps wagging that little nub of a tail of his, I'm happy and so is he.
Never stop smiling...................

I have been tagged by my great friend Charlie! Below are the rules of the game if I've tagged you:
(Hint: Copy and paste the rules so you don't have to type them again):
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
1. When on earth, I really hated wearing those outfits Mom put on me, but I smiled like I liked it!
2. I really liked Gracie Jane more than anyone thought.
3. I loved taking baths! The soapy rub-downs were the best!
4. I'm a Momma's Boy all the way!
5. I loved car rides as much as I loved food!
6. I'm the one that stole Mom's quesadilla off her plate that one time she blamed Daddy! Even the hot sauce was great!
7. I loved sleeping next to Momma at night and I miss that very much!
And the pups I choose to tag are:
1. Tajah http://www.dogster.com/dogs/235499
4. Angel Sassy http://www.dogster.com/dogs/222887
5. Suzette http://www.dogster.com/dogs/458427

It was my time to go to The Bridge this morning. I felt just awful. It was my kidneys finally failing.
Mommy wrapped me in my favorite blanket and Daddy, her and Gracie took me to Dr. Eppersons.
I feel better now and Griffen and Clover are showing me around so I’m not scared.
Here is a poem that Mommy always liked for us adopted pups (Daddy is typing this and hopes he gets this right):
Eyes fearful, paws worn;
a sorrowful sight, so forlorn.
Love they said would be the cure
for the suffering you had endured.
So our family grew that day.
We brought you home,
With us you’d stay.
Slowly, gently the bond it grew;
Faithful, loyal, loving, true.
Looking back it’s so unclear
How we got by without you here.
Devoted friend; You give and give, it never ends.
They said we were a gift to you but now we know who rescued who.

I went to the doctor with Gracie the other day and weighed in. I'm still at 18 pounds. Mom's happy because I'd gone from 21 pounds in December to 18 pounds in March and thankfully didn't lose anymore this April.
I'm eating real good, it's just my chronic kidney failure doing a real number on my body.
Most days I feel good and some days I'm even peppy again. It's the bad days that Mom says I physically look green. That's when I get to have more Azodyl tablets. They clean my kidneys for me since they don't work well on their own anymore. I.E. on the days that I look and feel green, my kidneys aren't working well and I'm being poisoned by my own toxins.
I asked Mommy and Daddy not to walk me far anymore. It's more fun at my age to sit in front of the TV and watch Animal Planet!
