Arrival Story:
Smoosh was a feral cat, living with a group of strays. When she was about 6-months old, she crawled up inside the engine space of a car. This car was then taken to the mechanic--with Smoosh inside! When found, she bit the mechanic and had to be quarantined at the local dog pound. By chance, looking for a kitty for my new apartment, I called the pound on the off chance they might have a cat. They did--but warned me "She's wild." She'd been scheduled to be euthanized the previous two weekends, but the animal control officer had held back as she had just started purring a bit--after about three months in her little cage! I went to see her--a fluffy little black and white ball of fright, huddled in her cage. I had no idea how she'd turn out, but I couldn't leave her there. After a few days of hiding under a desk, she responded to me very quickly and became my companion of 13 years--and counting!

Bio:
**MY DARLING COMPANION OF 15 YEARS LEFT ME YESTERDAY, 3/23/07. I MISS HER SO MUCH. NO OTHER KITTY WILL EVER TAKE HER PLACE. Smoosh remains very scared of strangers--I don't think this will ever change. She WILL accept new people--but only after long, long periods of time spent with her. She is undoubtably attached to me--I guess I became her One Person she Needed to Trust. She's lived in a number of different places with me, traveled half way across the country with me, was my only real companion during some lonely times.

Well.

Well, when that Big Fluffy Thing came to live with us this April, I WAS SO MAD! I didn't exactly know what it WAS...or what it was doing in MY HOUSE! All that fluff, that squishy face--what? After a few days, I figured out it was a cat. Like me, I think.

I still didn't like it much, tho. I growled at it, hissed at it, HATED it. But then...it didn't bother me, much, that Big Fluffy Thing. It NEVER tried to eat my FOODIES. And after a while, it kinda grew on me--that big Fluffy Thing.

I like it, now, kind of, That Big Fluffy Thing. That Woman who I LOVE, calls it "Little Girl" the way she calls me "DOUD!" I just don't like it when That Big Fluffy--I mean, when Little Girl sits where I belong--with That Woman! That's my spot! I will share That Woman with Little Girl, 'long as I get to be in the good spots: Lap, by her face, under the covers.

Sometimes, I have to carefully but firmly SIT on Little Girl to get her to move, so I can be in The Good Spot. Then, it's GOOD TIMES!
