My Tail of Devotion for Tosh [RB]

Tosh... what can I say.

You were never mine (as if a cat can belong to anyone), but I loved you. You were my sister, there for me since before I had been born. It was always something to see a cat who weighed in excess of twenty pounds chasing the kitten or jumping up onto the bed- you were definitely full of surprises!

Later, when you were diagnosed with a hyper thyroid and went from being my "fatty" to skin and bones, barely tipping the scale, I still loved you. You could get up on the bed easier, and when we started feeding you more (and better), you found your voice. I decided today there's nothing more empty than a house without you meowing for your breakfast in it.

And then we left for the holidays; you stayed home, sick, thin and sixteen years old (but still loved). When mum came home early, you were there waiting for her, meowing for your breakfast in all likelihood. She's sure you waited for her before you went to the bridge.

If you did, thank you for holding out so long. Because down here...

We love you.

This is a special Tail of Devotion

The Rainbow Bridge

August 6, 2008 our dear Tosh went to the Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

There's going to be a puppy at my house. It's shameful and unusual but I'm almost looking forward to it... showing the little fur-rocket who's boss around here. I might just crawl into my Tosh-Mahal and never come out.

They bring home pictures and I'm not happy to see that the puppy is getting bigger and bigger. And he smells bad, too- I can sniff him on their fake, outside-furs. Although, they talk about the "breeder" giving him a bath. Haha! That should be punishment enough. Serves him right for trying to get into my house.

Anyway, I have to go search out a decent hiding place in the basement or calculate how much more the puppy will grow to be able to tell if he can fit in my box.

Fatty purrs,

I'm honored that Catster loves me so. Ziggy's never ever been Catster cat of the day- and here I've been twice! I suppose word of my utter fabulousness is getting around...

Well, this was a short entry, I guess, and there's nothing aside from bad puppy news, so I shall cut myself off here and go take a nap.

Fatty purrs,

The humans have gone and done it. They've decided on getting their puppy. An Australian Shepherd. *sigh* I might need to ask the advice of some-kitty who lives with one as I've only ever shared my house with a collie and I was a "little pudge" then, according to the humans. Now arthritis, my cancer and me just wanting some rest interfere! Is that too much to ask for? I'm assured that puppy won't be let near me but I can't always trust the humans... I've heard that no matter how thick a puppy's skull is, it seems to have a mind of its own.

Information on the puppy that's been floating around the house is that it's mother is a red tri- whatever that is- and it's father is a blue merle- ditto. Also, even though it's being born in two days, it isn't coming to our house until April. Good. I can keep my house canine-free until then. Meanwhile, I'm checking around every corner beacause- as afore mentioned- the humans can't always be trusted...

Fatty growls,

P.S. Love you, Jacky!
