Arrival Story: Last year, I remembered saving him from the drain on a rainy day. His mum's crying drew me to the drain whereby he was trapped. A small little fellow, he was shivering in the cold. With much difficulty, I rescued him from it. Since then, his entire family was grateful to me and greeted me whenever I head to the pool for morning swims.
I named this little fella Tuner and his little brother is known as Scotty. Both are ginger coloured, highly intelligent and friendly cats. I watched them grow up, from a little kitten to a full sized adult cat. I watched them play little games with each other, sleep together, walk together and enjoy being together. It warms my heart whenever I see them. As weeks and months go by, they became less dependent though they still like loving and affection from me.
Between the two, Turner is the more affection and loving. He would run towards me whenever I called out "Baby". He would sleep on my lap for as long as he can. He would also "challenge" me to play little games with him too.
It was just last week when a welfare organisation came around to pick them up. I know they are doing that for good reasons - to get them sterilised and try to find them a good family. I miss both of them. Ironically, I spent a significant amount of time with Turner a day before he was taken away. I remembered that he put his face so close to mine (for the first time) and I whispered in his ear, "I love you baby. I love you very much and you know that." Those were the moments that we shared, and I was glad that he left behind a gift of love that would last a lifetime for me.
If there’s anything I will miss about Turner, it would be a long list of things to begin with. I missed seeing him run to me whenever I called out "Baby". I missed seeing him on his favorite bench everytime I head to the pool. I missed having him curl up on my lap to sleep in. I missed having little games with him. I missed having him bother me when I want to head to the poolside. Above all, I missed having him accompanying me out of the gates and saying goodbye whenever I leave for the day.
Words can never describe how much I love Turner. In fact, I love him very much, much more than I can ever thought I could. Turner came along, and melted the heart of mine. Although I cannot help but feel that part of me has been taken away, I still have this little place in my heart that I have kept for him. If there’s a little space in his heart that he can offer, I hope he will be able to offer that to me just as I have done for him.
The bottom line is that I know I love him very much and deeply too. I want to take him in purely on the grounds of love and affection, and not sympathy. I want to be there for him, to show my support and that he will do the same when life brings me down or out.
Turner happens to be one of these special individuals in my life. A strong believer in Fate, I believe that if we are meant for each other, we will meet again. Our paths will cross and the right decision will be made. Procrastination will never be on my cards if such a day comes. Not when it comes to him because I love him. I can proudly say that I love him now and always will – simply because I know in my heart that he's worth it.
