Heatwave!

June 26th 2011 3:05 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 8 people already have ]

We have had days of wet weather, yesterday was wet and foggy all day, I have hardly been out. The weather man had said we are in for a heatwave for a few days and it arrived today, yay. Its been very hot all day and even the wind was warm, but it was nice to be out in the sun and I stayed out until it was almost dark. I was able to watch the bats flying around, boy, they are fast!
Now I hear we have a weather warning out for tomorrow for heavy showers, thunder and hail and possibly localised flooding, whats with that? its supposed to be summer, glad I made the most of the weather today.
I think mom is turning into a cat, no, she dosnt use the litter tray but she has been sleeping a lot lately in between working. I cant get on to the computer that much now, dosnt she know I have to wind up Blizzard regularly or he gets complacent. He hates to be reminded about his mouse pouch.

Ten Things we Cats Think About

I could have sworn I heard the can opener.
Is there something I'm not getting when humans make noise with their mouths?
Why doesn't the government do something about dogs?
I wonder if Morris really liked 9-Lives, or did he have an ulterior motive?
Hmmm ... If dogs serve humans, and humans serve cats, why can't we cats ever get these stupid dogs to do anything for us?
This looks like a good spot for a nap.
Hey, no kidding, I'm sure that's the can opener.
Would humans have built a vast and complex civilization of their own if we cats handn't given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the first place?
If there's a God, how can He allow neutering/spaying?
If that really was the can opener, I'll play finicky just to let them know who's boss!

Why?

Mom has been tired lately, so I am not able to do my diary everyday but hopefully, soon we will be back to normal.
We have just read the story on the catster main page about the mother (if that is what you call her) and her two sons who savagely abused the two defenceless kittens. We are lost for words.....disgusting. WHY, do humans behave this way, we animals do not ask to be brought into this world and when we are, WHY are we not treated with love and respect. What did these 2 little lives do to deserve this treatment? We urge you all to go and sign the petition. How can a mother urge her kids to do cruelty to animals, that is no mother, and if let off with a fine and a smack on the wrists, what will they do next??? We know cruelty happens everyday to animals and it needs to be stopped. Its such an upsetting story and we send our love and purrs to the kitten that died so needlessly and to little Dexter in the hope that he pulls through.

Pets' Bill of Rights

We have the right to be full members of your family. We thrive on social interaction, praise, and love.

We have the right to stimulation. We need new games, new toys, new experiences, and new smells to be happy.

We have the right to regular exercise. Without it, we could become hyper, sluggish...or fat.

We have the right to have fun. We enjoy acting like clowns now and then; don't expect us to be predictable all the time.

We have the right to quality health care. Please stay good friends with our vet.

We have the right to a good diet. Like some people, we don't know what's best for us. We depend on you.

We have the right not to be rejected because of your expectations that we be great show dogs or show cats, watchdogs, hunters, or baby-sitters.

We have the right to receive proper training. Otherwise, our good relationship could be marred by confusion and strife - and we could become dangerous to ourselves and others.

We have the right to guidance and correction based on understanding and compassion, rather than abuse.

We have the right to live with dignity...and to die with dignity when the time comes.

Love and purrs to all.

What can I say........Thank you Catster for picking me for DDP again, I am very honoured.
We would like to apologise for not being around to do my diary for a while, but mom needed a break, she had so much to worry about she couldn't think straight and with my great big paws, I couldn't open the laptop let alone turn it on. We have been popping in everyday to check on everyone and make sure all are well and to see if Panda has her kits yet, she better be careful that blizzard dont sit on her, they will pop out in no time.
Thank you all for Meekos birthday gifts, it made his day.
I cant remember the last time I saw the sun (no, blizzard inst over here)......its true......its been wet, cold and windy for days, weeks and to think its mid summers day tomorrow. I think summer has skipped us and gone straight to autumn, so needless to say, I haven't been out much, mom has had to buy us new toys to keep us entertained. She says we cost her a fortune.....whats new there, we are used to being pampered.

If You Can ...

If you can, start the day without caffeine,
If you can, get going without pep pills,
If you can, always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can, resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can, eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can, understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can, overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can, take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can, ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can, resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can, face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can, conquer tension without medical help,
If you can, relax without liquor,
If you can, sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can, say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,....
Then, you my friend, you are almost as good as your CAT!

How many people can say they are as good as their cat?

We will be back as soon as we can, hopefully tomorrow. We are missing all our Catster friends.
Today we are celebrating Meekos Birthday, so tonight we will be having chicken and treats when mom gets back from shopping.
Stay safe everyone.

Wow, would you look at that!!! I am a DDP again. Thanks diary gal for picking my diary again. Thanks to you all for stopping by and leaving comments and for taking the time to send me a gift. You really are the coolest guys a cat could know, and you all live many miles away from me, how cool is Catster.
I haven't set one paw outside today as it rained non stop all night and all day and now its dark, foggy, wet and windy. We have all spent the day snoozing and only moving to have our meals. If blizzard were here I could have used him to shelter under!!
I have got over the embarrassment of doing my Bambi on ice impression yesterday but mom still has the odd giggle about it.
Last night I was at laceys party and guess what......mom fell asleep....I couldnt operate the keyboard as my paws are too big so I missed out on some of the fun. You just cant get the staff nowadays!!!

Cat-Person Profile Quiz

How many did you answer "yes" to? I think just answering one with a "yes" is enough to qualify you as a "Cat Person." But the number of yes answers determines the degree:

Your "Cat-ability" Score:

1 to 4 yes answers: In training - you could do better, but it's OK, you're learning.
5 to 8 yes answers: Moderate - working on it, improving nicely. Potential is there.
9 to 13 yes answers: Extreme - just about there, almost mastered the art. Keep stretching yourself.
14 to 17 yes answers: Totally possessed, hopelessly devoted, cat-a-holic. Congratulations! (But you'll find no 12 step program here!) Addicted and proud of it, I say!

We would love to know everyone's scores.

Thank you

We would like to thank all of you who gave Cairo Birthday gifts, he got so many of them, he thinks hes the 'bees knees' now. Hes been strutting around like a peacock.
I have been out a lot today, the weather aint great but its been dry and a little sunny but now it is raining and getting windy, we are supposed to be in for a really wet day tomorrow, which mom says is good because we need the rain as we are heading for a drought.
Its not as cold today as it was yesterday, we expected to see frost on the ground it felt that cold.
Mom washed the floors today, that always seems to get everyone worked up, they all go racing around and skidding on the floors, it looked fun so I tried it.....whoops..bad move....I ended up looking like Bambi on ice, mom had to pick me up and put me on the sofa as I couldn't get up, that was after she stood watching me laughing so hard she nearly wet herself....humans!!!
Wish I had Blizzards padding!

Part 2 of the Cat-persons profile

Have you often slept on the very edge of the bed so that you won't disturb the cat who's sleeping in the very middle?
Do you leave messages for the kitty on the answering machine?
Have you ever invited a guest to sit down by patting the seat and making that noise with your pursed lips?
Does your answering machine have the cat meowing on the outgoing message?
When you go to the bathroom do you think of it as "using the litterbox"?
Have you made a habit of setting a place at the table for the kitty?
Do you know your cat's birthday (or if not, have made a good guess) and have a birthday party to celebrate?
When your husband/wife gives you the ultimatum, "OK, it's me or the cat," you don't hesitate for even one second.
Do your neighbors talk about you as "the nut with all the cats?"

Cat-ability scores tomorrow.

Cold, wet and another Birthday.

This time last week it was hot and sunny, today it is so cold and wet, a day to stay indoors, which was OK as mom was at work till 9pm. On the TV they have been talking about places in the UK having a drought!! water levels in the UK are way below normal for this time of year. Its been so cold today, mom has her hot water bottle ready to take to bed. I bet Blizzard doesn't feel the cold with mouse pouch that big to keep him warm!!!
Today has been Cairo's Birthday, hes 2. He is a mummy's boy, he is so devoted to her. Mom calls him her baby boy, and he loves being held and cuddled. He can tell when mom has to go out before she starts getting ready and he gets really clingy and constantly meows and he is the first to know when mom is on her way home. That boys senses are unreal.
As mom was at work, dad gave us our supper and mom had left strict instructions for him to make sure we got the ham she had brought for Cairos birthday. It went down very well, we do like birthdays and I believe its Meekos birthday this month too, so more ham or chicken.

Cat-Person Profile Quiz
Is your devotion to your cat and "cat things" in the training stage, at a moderate level, or extreme? Or are you an all out shameless "cat-a-holic?" Let's just see how you rate as a "cat person," shall we? See how many of these can you give an HONEST "yes" answer to:
Can you meow so well that you can fake out your cats?
Have you ever called your husband/wife by the cat's name by mistake?
Do you think of your cats as the "furry kids?"
Did you ever decide to buy a house or rent an apartment based solely on the potential spot for the litterbox?
Do you think cat hair in your food is a good source of protein?
Last Christmas did you spend more money on cat toys than you did on gifts for the kids or grandkids?
Are you at a loss as to how to talk to people who don't own any cats?
Does your wallet contain more photos of your cats than your kids or grandkids?

More questions tomorrow, so take a note of your moms and dads answers.

ouchie

As it has been wet here, with very heavy showers, I have not been out today. Well, I did briefly until I realised it was raining then I couldn't get in fast enough, I nearly got wedged in the door as mom was shutting it, I was that fast. So today has been a quiet day in side. Mom had to go to work today, she left at 2.30pm and was supposed to be home at 9.30pm but she was late as one of the horses went down with colic and had to keep the horse on his feet and walking until the vet came to give him some medication, so she didnt get home until 10.45 and dad was already in bed sleeping and we were all sleeping, she didnt get much of a welcome home.
The first thing mom noticed was my ouchie, I have made it very sore and it is a lot bigger, nearly 2 inches now. I have now had it bathed and creamed. I just find it hard to cope when moms not here, she has been home everyday for nearly 6 months when she was ill and now I have to get used to her going back to work again. I dont do it on purpose, I am not a bad boy, its just my way of coping with change. Mom gets sad when I self harm and I look up to her with my big eyes and say sorry which makes mom even sadder, she says I have the biggest sorrowful eyes she has ever seen when I know I have been naughty.

Doing too much

June 8th 2011 3:50 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 7 people already have ]

It has come to my attention that some of us cats are doing too much wasteful stuff and not living life to the max. We don't do enough of what we cats were born to do, what we have evolved to do. Are humans expect us do do or behave in certain ways, hey, wake up and smell the roses, we are cats and we have our own agenda, our own way to live our life.

A Calmer Life for Cats
How to enjoy nine stress free lives:
Life 1 - Sleep.
Life 2 - Sleep.
Life 3 - Sleep.
Life 4 - Sleep.
Life 5 - Sleep.
Life 6 - Sleep.
Life 7 - Sleep.
Life 8 - Sleep.
Life 9 - Catch up on everything you should have done.

Conserve your energy. When you crave attention one doleful look into your human’s eyes will have greater effect than many minutes of stressful meowing. Nurture the ability to look pathetic and your human will forever be your slave.

Avoid vets!

At the end of a long nerve-racking day relax and reflect on all your achievements - wallpaper scratched, curtains scaled and one piece of string thoroughly chased. Celebrate these small successes. They make life worthwhile.

Cats Daily Agenda for an ultra calm life:

00:00 - 07:00 Sleep on bed
07:00 - 07:10 Breakfast
07:10 - 12:00 Sleep on chair
12:00 - 12:10 Lunch
12:10 - 15:00 Sleep on top of refrigerator
15:00 - 15:01 Exercise (completely optional)
15:01 - 18:00 Sleep under heater
18:00 - 18:15 Dinner
18:15 - 00:00 Sleep in drawer

Yes Blizzard you can sleep between meals.

As I dont have much new to report today and I refuse to talk about the weather. I thought I would share what we all know about our mom......yep, she is a crazy cats lady, not only does she have us 14 but she works with 28 cats as well and looks after aunty moms 12 cats when she goes away, but that is not enough! Check this list and see if your mom or dad is a crazy cats person.

Top Ten Signs That You Are A
"Crazy Cat Lady"

Your colleagues no longer ask how your weekend was. Instead they ask how your cats are doing. (true where mom works)

People at work have stopped offering you their lint brushes. They realize it's hopeless anyway. ( no point when working with animals)

When you get your latest roll of film developed, there's not a single human being in the pictures. (camera and phone contain pics of us and the cats at work)

You have more cats than the local pet store and there are several kitty litter boxes in every room of your apartment. (how true is this!)

Your personal motto is: "You can never have enough cats."
(moms moto..."cats are like chocolates...you cant just have one)

You buy more than 60 pounds of cat litter a month. (yep)

You'd rather watch hours of boring infomercials than disturb the cat sleeping on the remote. (also mom sits on the floor if us lot are on the sofa)

You choose your friends based on how well your cats like them. (mom only has friends who love cats)

The only time you leave your apartment is to feed the stray cats in the neighborhood. (or goes to work to feed the cats)

You introduce your cats by name to the postman (most parcels are for us)

Anyone noticed how soppy the Catfather is getting????
