Not sure what happened, but we wrote a diary last week and it's disappeared? We wanted to thank our furiends for the gifties and well wishes while I was was recovering from my toe amputations. My feet have healed well and they feel better. I've had a week without mom putting me on my back and treating them - so glad that's over! Still waiting for the final results from pathology, as they had to be dissected again as they weren't finding anything.

On Sunday I was straining in the litter box and was quite agitated. I get like this from time to time, so mom decided to wait it out. Late in the day I was sleeping and looked comfy so mom hoped it was over. When the sun came up, mom heard me howling loudly down in my room. She rushed to check on me and I was miserable. The room was covered in litter and she could tell I had a bad night. She swooped me up and stuffed me in the carrier and off to the vet. We weren't sure if I was trying to pee or poop, because I was passing small amounts of both. I had to stay all day until I had enough urine to test. They found a large amount of crystals - ouch. I was given pain meds and sent home with a special urinary food. I continued to strain until the next day. I eat mostly canned food and mom wasn't expecting this. I had blood in my urine in the last year and have had numerous urine checks, as I like to spray. I had crystals as a youngster and she didn't think older kitties would get them.

I'm on the road to recovery again and may have to eat this type of food for the rest of my life. The good thing is I like it, the bad thing is it's giving me diarrhea. We'll give it some time and see how I do. I'm really tired now and hope I feel better soon.

When mom picked me up the technician said maybe I've been spraying all these years because I didn't feel well. If that's the case mom feels really bad.

Take care my furiends and we wish you all well!

Surgery Tomorrow

Well, as you know, I'm a polydactyl and I've been dealing with infected toes for over a decade. My mom has been treating them and the topical antibiotics are no longer working. My two front dewclaws are red, sore, and sometimes oozing. Tomorrow my vet will be removing those two front toes and sending them in for testing. I'll also be getting my teeth cleaned and polished. Plus an x-ray of my spine because I have an aching back. This may have something to do with my chronic constipation.

I'm playing out in the yard today, but tomorrow I will not be so lucky. My mom is very nervous for me and doesn't want me to have pain, and this is now the only option. My vet offered to do this procedure many years ago, but we were still able to clear the infection then.

Please purr for me to have a successful procedure.

Hello furiends! I'm celebrating big time today! I've been out playing in the yard and enjoying the sunshine.

It's been a tough week for some of my furblings. Dottie has been straining in the litter box and is on pain meds and special food. Yesterday Dixon bit Pouncey's toe and she was rushed to the vet. They shaved her foot and put her on antibiotics and pain meds. Dixon is going to take some meds to help him "chill out" so hopefully no more worries.

My health has been good. Although my toes are still getting infected even though I had the tiny one removed. I mostly stay in my own room because I still like to "mark" my house. Kingsley and Paisley like to visit me and we play and take naps together. Mom can't believe how much I like running around and acting like a kitten.

We wish you all a furtastic Summer!

Your pal,

What a scary week it has been. Tomorrow I will have been at the vet for 3 whole days. They are keeping me in a staff office and watching me real close. I had an ultrasound of my bladder, and a urinalysis that showed a lot of blood. They gave me pain meds and fluids today and will check my urine again tomorrow. My mom misses me furry much:(

From my mom: Benson was having a bad spring was spraying a lot. I've had to keep him locked in one room, or let him stay in the outside enclosure and fenced yard. We catified his room last weekend by building shelving around the entire room, with steps to go up and down. I was finding puddles on the floor of his room, which was a new development. I'm so glad I took him in. I had weaned him off his anti-anxiety meds and was going to see how he would do just being himself. He was extra sweet and very playful. Even though he had one of his extra toes removed that was always infected, he still gets bi-lateral nail bed infections that have to be treated almost continuously. I'm hoping we can get my special boy back on track.

Hugs & Purrs,

11 Years Old Today

Happy Birthday to me! Mom promised me I would always be youngest of the furmily, like she is. Well I almost made it 11 years, because now we have Kingsley and Paisley. I guess that's okay, because I sleep so much, and Paisley likes to play outside with me. She's a good tree climber - I have all my claws too, but I never liked being up so high.

Mom just got back from volunteering and we're gonna hang out today. Maybe have some extra nip and nap in a sun puddle. My mouth is all healed up and I'm eating good again.

The two foster Whitesters, Dixon and Dottie had dentals this week and they're still chillin' in their room. They are very quiet and we hardly know they are here, except mom goes in there with yummy food and comes out with empty bowls.

Wishing all my furiends a pawsome day!

Love & Hugs,

I sure am lucky - thanks Catster for picking me as a DDP today and thanks furiends for the gifties!!

I went to the vet yesterday and I'm feeling and looking good. Mom locked me in the computer room for a couple nights so I could chill out. There have been lots of kitties running around outside and they are even peeing on my front door. I've been spraying a lot and have to take more meds to calm me down. I go outside every morning and mark my yard so those kitties will understand this place is mine, and sometimes I just forget that I'm not supposed to do that in the house. I'll be 11 years old in a week and mom keeps hoping some day I will understand, but if not, we will continue to deal with it.

Luckily the kitty where mom volunteers decided to come out of the ceiling/floor. All the kitties are back in their foster room. We still have the two Whitesters (Dottie & Dixon) in the spare room. Dixon is now friendly and loves to be brushed and petted, but Dottie scampers under the bed when peeps visit. They went to an adoption event this week, and next week go to a college to get their teeth cleaned.

We are loving the warmer weather - Spring is finally here! We wish you a purrfect weekend!

Yahoo - I'm Diary of the Day!

Well this is sure exciting! Thank you Catster fur making my day spawcial!

I'm done with my medicine and have been feeling better. Each morning when mom opens the kitty door I run out in the yard and munch on the nip that's just starting to peek up through the soil. Then I roll around on it and act silly. After doing my duty, I run back in to my heated bed and spend most of my day there, until mom wakes me up to eat.

There's been a situation at the place where mom volunteers. A cat is lost between the floor and ceiling, and they can't get it to come out. The foster room has been shut down and the cats had to come out. There is now quite a bit of overcrowding. I'm not allowed to see them, but mom says there are two white kitties, named Dottie and Dixon, in our spare bedroom. They are very scared and hide all the time. We have to be very careful not to exchange germs.

Thanks fur the gifties and celebrating with me! Have a purrfect day!

What Next!

I just want to be healthy! Mom has been treating two of my infected toes for the last last ten days. This weekend she noticed my mouth was smelly and I was drooling and had bubbles coming out. Mom knew I wasn't feeling my best as I also didn't want to eat. I had a dental about 7 months ago, and last month I was in for my 6 month wellness check. Everything was a okay.

Off to the vet again. I have an ulcer on my tongue, small red bumps on my lips, and my gums are swollen and red. My vet says it's probably a virus, or I got into something I shouldn't have. Now I have to take Onsior and buprenorphine to see if it will help me feel better. Mom says I'm purrty cranky - but she doesn't blame me. She knows how it hurts to have a canker sore on her tongue.

My wish is for healthy toes, tongue, gums, and lips - and no more medicines! I also wouldn't mind some warmer days with lots of sunshine!

Disgruntled purrs,

What a Purrtastic Week I'm Having!

Wowza, I was chosen a DDP again! All this excitement makes it worth getting out of my heated bed.

Good thing the Catster diary person doesn't know that I was naughty last night - I sprayed on the wall. Luckily mom caught me in the act and promptly cleaned it up. I can't wait until the weather is nice enough to go out in my yard, then I can spray all I want, wherever I want. My hyperesthesia syndrome makes me a little crazy some days and I get out of control.

Well, I guess the cats out of the bag now:( Time fur some more beauty rest.

Wowza - what an honor this is! I'm so happy to be chosen - thank you Kewlest Catster Kitties!

I've been doing purrty well. For the most part I like my new fursibs Kingsley and Paisley, we chase each other around. It's nice to have someone to play with besides Pouncey because she plays kinda mean - like she's hunting me down.

A couple months ago I had my toofies cleaned and at the same time I had an extra toe removed that was causing me trouble. It was an itty bitty toe and the bone was floating and not attached to anything. Unfortunately I've already had an infection, in both front feet. Mom just treats it with Animax ointment for a week or so and then I get better. I'm kinda bummed out because the vet said that shouldn't happen. Oh well, we'll just have to deal with it cause mom says the rest of my toes are staying - I still have 22 of them.

I'm spending my winter in a heated bed or snuggling with mom. It's going to be -21F tonight - brrrr!

Hoping our furiends are keeping warm!
