This is something that made my mom and me very sad to hear. (Mom read about it in a great Aby blog written by the mother of Jacoby, who is a distant cousin of mine. And SHE heard about it from an Aby newsletter.)
A sweet 5 and a half year old Aby girl named Saint Anne needs a home. Why? Because she won't use a human toilet instead of a litterbox! :(
read the story here:
Aby Saint Anne needs a home
It is really unbelievable. :( So mean!
If there is any catster near Tampa who would like to give that wonderful girl a home, PLEASE DO. She deserves better.
See the contact info in the blog post

We is SPEECHLESS!! Kitties is 'upposed to use a litter box. What is WRONG wif PEEPLES?!?
Unbelievable. Shared on Facebook, hoping for a quick rescue for Anne from the mean people she's had to deal with for the last few years.
We hope she finds a home soon! Some people are so ignorant!
Oh how sad how can hoomans be so awful? IF it were not so sad this would be a joke. She is a very beautiful kitty, there are six of us here and if we could all get along mom would have her sent here but I for one feel we are at out limit and maybe we are over one.
Purring she finds a loving home where litter boxes are acceptable.
I agree with Booboo, this would be funny if it weren't so wrong and so sad. What kind of people are they? Don't they know there are plenty of kitties out there whose people struggle to get them to USE the litter box and yet, still love and keep them (I'm sometimes on that list when I get highly stressed). KITTIES ARE NOT DISPOSABLE!!! ESPECIALLY not because they are doing EXACTLY what they are suppose to do!
I wouldn't want to use a stupid human toilet. I'd fall in! That poor girl's family needs a good sensible smack and I hope she finds a far better home.
I know! That poor girl must feel so confused. :(
She's so beautiful! I wish I could take her. What a horrible reason to give up a cat.
That is just so ridiculous!
Maybe the kitty should teach the peeps to use the litterbox...since they want her to use the toilet...MOL!
Poor, poor kitty!
I sure hope those peeps never ever try to have another kitty, they don't deserve one at all:(
That is horrible. The poor sweet girl. She deserves a better home. How can her humans have such expectations? We are cats, by nature, we do our business and cover it to avoid detection by predators (well, most cover it anyway). It is a novel trick to use a toilet, and there are some cats that are willing to do this but, come on....it should not be expected. I have re-written this comment 4 times because I am so angry.
Oh, the poor girl! You're right, Toki, she must be very confused! She deserves a much better home than that! (If Mommy had her way, we would take her...*sigh*) What a beautiful, sweet kitty! We are purring she finds a new furever home soon!!
Toki do you have a picture of her? My friend in Texas that lost her Aby Maggie this summer might consider it if I give her a picture. Not sure but it's worth a try. I think her parents live in Florida too so there may be a way to do this.
Sorry! DUH!!!!!! Mom needs a samich, MOL. We're going now to look at the page. Thanks Toki!
I'm just floored that anyone could be so rotten to do this. This kitty is gorgeous and so sweet and NO kitty deserves this kind of treatment.
I remember you told me about Maggie. So sad. But Texas to Florida is really really far.
This morning I was pressing my mom's face to wake her up, and mom felt sad thinking of Saint Anne, rejected and made to feel wrong because she is being a NORMAL CAT and using a litter box. I hope she gets a great family who let's her be a playful, spunky, loving and confident Aby just like me.
I don't believe distance should be an issue anymore as long as someone is willing to do what it takes to get them there safely. I've seen it happen with Ingen. Maggie's momma is a good mom and as I said, her parents live in Florida I believe so she may very well be able to arrange something. Besides, if we can find that kitty a MUCH BETTER home than the horrible parents she has now, it shouldn't matter as long as it's not too much stress on her and safety measures are taken. I actually don't know if she'd take her anyway, I'm just throwing it out to her. I haven't heard back from her yet. I'm adding it to my newsletter right now. I have over 300 subscribers from EVERYWHERE.
Oh that poor girl, she is a beautiful Aby. Those people don't deserve such a darling kitty. It breaks our hearts. We're purring that she will go to people who will love and cherish her.
Thank you Alex, that is wonderful that you are adding it to your newsletter. The most important thing is that Saint Anne finds a home. No matter how angry we are about her owners, we can't let it be about that. I don't even know whether we will find out if she gets a good home or not.
I know, and that will be hard if that's the case. But I've learned to just do what we can to help and then move on because we could wait forever and may never know the outcome of something. If we do find out, then wonderful! And you're right, the important thing is to get her out of that house.
I jus' wanna say 'at Precious Pet Transport Service did a wunnerfur job moofin me from Wisconsin to Washington. So, if Maggie wan's her there's good peeples helps wif moofin.
