I'm about to pass out with pride, furriends! My mom submitted four of her magazine stories to the Cat Writers' Association writing competition, and she just found out that all four of them are finalists for awards! In one category, she's competing against herself.

I'd like to say that she's a shoo-in, but the competition is very stiff, with entries from all of the most famous cat writers in the country. I have high hopes for the Catsterland piece, which is in the Humor category.

The awards will be given out at the annual conference in L.A., so mom has decided to go, and she's taking the husband with her. He can hang out with her brother during the day, but he is required to attend the awards banquet!

Best of all, mom will get to meet her (and my) idol, Jackson Galaxy. She told the husband that she might have to go to Mexico for a quickie divorce first, just in case...

In other news, I'm told I was a very bad boy this weekend. On Saturday, mom says she head a loud crash and a big meow, but when she went from room to room investigating, she couldn't find anything out of place. Okay, then. The next morning, she discovered that they had no dial tone; as this is a regular occurrence with Comcast, she was annoyed but just sighed and made the husband call the cable company. While he was talking to the technician, he walked into his office and found...the phone lying on the floor, off the hook (yes, we do have an old-fashioned corded phone, on the insistence of the husband). 2 + 2 = 4. But, since cats supposedly have short-term memories and can't be punished for something they did way before (heh,heh,heh!) I got off scot-free.

Unless you were caught with the phone in your paw, they can't prove anything, Monster! Dang, how come I didn't know about that Cat Writer's Association? I could have submitted Poopology! I'm a cat, and I'm a writer, so it sure makes sense. Is your Mom a cat too?

That's really exciting news Monster. You must be really proud of her that she did so well and of yourself for being so inspirational! And as for the phone, we wouldn't call that naughty so much as providing material for stories like all good cats should. Let us know ho0w she gets on in LA. Purrs Toby
