The 13th Annual Global Pet Expo — one of the biggest, if not the biggest pet trade shows — was brimming with enthusiasm for cat products. It was so nice to see as I’ve felt that cat products have taken a backseat to dog products in the past five years. With more than 1,130 companies exhibiting pet products and services, it wasn’t too hard to get some feline finds to catch my eye.
Note: Some of these products are so new that they aren’t on the company’s websites yet. Just email them and ask when your cat can get your paws on them. We have NOT tested these products with our cats, so if you do, let us know what you think in the comments section below!
Our National Advertising Director Jason (he has two cats) said this reminded him of a Roomba. Indeed, this nifty laser cat toy moves around — turning and changing direction — to keep kitty enticed. We ended up playing with it at the booth for a bit, so apparently it keeps us humans entertained, too.
Kitties are always in need of hydration, so what could be more fun than slurpin’ up some soup? These soups are filled with cat-favorite proteins like salmon, tuna, shrimp and chicken. Living here in the South, I also couldn’t believe Friskies’ new Party Mix flavor — Chicken and Waffles.
I have to admit — I played around with this myself. It’s like meat taffy for cats. All you have to do is pull some up, wrap it around a pill and your fine feline won’t be able to resist. Better yet, it’s Jackson Galaxy approved.
As many of us are aware, lots of cats have been exposed to feline herpes virus and L-lysine is just what the veterinarian ordered. This product comes in a maple-flavored gel — all you have to do is let your cat lick it. I actually put it on my hands and smelled deliciously like maple all day.
Here’s a product to help you reduce your cat’s carbon paw print. Made from corn and cassava, it’s sustainable, renewable and supports the Rainforest Trust, which purchases and protects tropical forests where animals like wild cats live.
Celebrate good times by microwaving up a feline-friendly cake for kitty. This kit includes one three fish-shaped pan, cheese nip-flavored mix and yogurt-flavored frosting.
This is one of those products that’s great for both you and your cat. He can sit in it, lay on top of it, and you can put toys or even cat nip in it. And I love its nice and modern look. Then I saw it was by Primetime Petz, which means Catster‘s Feline Design columnist Kate Benjamin had a paw in creating it. No surprise there!
You know how cats like to drink out of the faucet? Now there’s a drinking fountain that looks like an actual faucet! Shouldn’t be hard to get your cats to switch to that!
Talk about going natural — these treats are actual freeze-dried minnows. Yep, the real thing. I saw them. Cats won’t be able to resist these.
And now I’ve seen it all. We’ve got scented litter to take you and your cats through the holidays and winter. For once, people will want to sniff your kitty litter.
