This review was created in partnership with Reveal, who compensated us for our time and editorial work. However, our opinions and ratings remain entirely our own – we only recommend products we genuinely believe in, and all assessments reflect our honest experience and testing.

Our Final Verdict

We give Reveal wet food and treats an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Quality: 4.9/5
Variety: 5/5
Ingredients: 4.8/5
Value: 4.7/5

Providing your cat with the variety they crave, the nutrition they need, and the hydration to help them thrive can be a tall order. Most cat food prioritizes only one of these areas, making it hard to find a single brand that can support your cat’s health while keeping feeding time fun and interesting.

This is where Reveal stands apart. Their wet cat food line includes two distinct selections to help you meet your cat’s nutritional needs while keeping things interesting to entice them to eat every meal. Both varieties contain simple, recognizable, minimally processed ingredients, plus plenty of moisture and flavor.

With the help of my three-year-old Domestic Shorthair, Makoa, I had a chance to test out Reveal’s wet food lines along with their many tasty treat options. Keep reading to find out what makes this wet food different and if it’s the right option for your cat in my full Reveal cat food review.

Why Keeping Your Cat Hydrated Is So Important Yet So Difficult

Cats are pretty unique creatures. One place where this species differs from dogs and other companions is in their hydration needs.

Domestic cats suffer from kidney disease at a much higher rate than most animals. Much of this is due to the fact that most house cats spend their lives chronically dehydrated. This happens for numerous reasons.

First, cats are descended from desert felines that got the majority of their moisture from their prey. They never developed a strong instinct for seeking out open water to drink, simply because there often wasn’t any.

Secondly, our cats inherited a distinct pickiness about water thanks to their desert ancestors. When these wild cats did find water, it was often stagnant and dangerous to drink, so they developed a highly attuned taste for fresh water. Because of this, today, our cats often turn up their noses at the water bowl if the water inside has any impurities or tastes stagnant.

To make matters worse, most commercial cat food doesn’t contain enough moisture to keep cats hydrated, even when they do occasionally visit the water bowl. Dry kibble is the most obvious culprit for dehydrating cats, but a lot of “wet” foods also don’t contain enough moisture, especially when fed along with kibble.

The result? A chronically dehydrated kitty whose kidneys must work overtime to pull waste products from the blood, leading to damage, and eventually kidney failure.

About Reveal Wet Cat Food

Reveal is a natural cat food company focused on building recipes that utilize high-quality, protein-forward meals and treat options. They have crafted their wet food specifically to tackle the issue of chronic dehydration in cats.

How do they do this? With two lines of wet foods made with simple ingredients that cats love, along with plenty of added moisture to keep them hydrated even if they don’t drink from the water bowl very often.

Of course, simply adding water to the recipes isn’t enough. Cat food needs to be appealing to ensure they consume that moisture reliably.

By offering a variety of flavors that can be rotated to keep your cat interested, Reveal wet cat food keeps cats coming back for more.

Who Makes Reveal Cat Food and Where Is It Produced?

Reveal cat food is owned by MPM Products in Manchester, UK, the company behind respected pet food brands Applaws and Encore. The meat used in Reveal is sourced from the UK, France, Austria, Spain, Thailand, Australia, and the USA.

Which Type of Cat Is Reveal Wet Food Best Suited For?

Reveal has two main lines of adult cat food:

Entrees feature nutritionally complete recipes and are designed to be fed as your cat’s main meal. They offer “in gravy” and “pate” options, and their “in broth” recipes are especially good for cats who don’t drink a lot of fresh water.

As the name suggests, the Limited Ingredient line contains just a few recognizable ingredients (eg. tuna fillet, fish broth, shrimp), with nothing else added. This means it is not a complete feed, so it is only suitable to be given as part of a nutritionally balanced diet, not as a primary food source. The high-protein and high-moisture content make it an excellent option for adding to your cat’s dry food or feeding as an occasional treat.

Reveal also has a new range of super-hydrating Bone Broth Squeezy Pouches that can be easily added to dry food to add flavor and moisture, as well as Lickable Treats and Filet Treats that prioritize moisture, protein, and flavor, making them a great option for all cats.

Our Experience with Reveal Wet Food and Treats

If you’ve read my reviews before, then you know how much my cat, Makoa, loves to eat. So doing cat food reviews with him is always a bit tricky, being that he is generally happy to eat just about anything!

Still, it was obvious that the Reveal canned food and treats we received were on a whole new level, flavor-wise. I have never seen this cat eat so fast!

But I’m getting ahead of myself…

To test these Reveal products, we received a variety box of canned food and treats, including multiple flavors of both the Entrees and Limited Ingredient food, Lickable Treats, Filet Treats, and the new Bone Broth squeezy pouches.

Immediately, I was impressed with the simplicity of the ingredients used in all these products. Every single ingredient was recognizable – and I don’t just mean on the ingredient list. When you open these cans, you can actually see the shredded chicken breast and bits of tuna inside.

Whilst the ingredients found in Reveal wet cat food are impressive, what they’ve left out is just as important. With the exception of potato in the Lickable Treats (necessary for texture), there are no starches, grains, vegetables, or fruit, which, for obligate carnivores like cats, is ideal. There are no unnecessary grains or fillers; just quality animal protein you can see.

The only thing I was disappointed with in terms of ingredients was the lack of organ meat. Muscle meat is great for providing protein and most amino acids, but organ meat is a treasure trove of less abundant nutrients. The inclusion of vitamins and minerals in the Entrees meals ensures your cat gets everything they need, but whole-food sources are always my preference.

Pet parents need to be aware that Reveal’s Limited Ingredient range was created to enhance or supplement your cat’s food, not as a standalone meal, so it should only be fed as part of a complete diet. While protein-packed and full of quality meat, they are not nutritionally complete. It says on the can that these are “cat food mixers” and “intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding,” but this text is small and easy to miss.

Once I was clear on how each type of food should be used, I got to work testing all the products with Makoa’s help.

He absolutely loved having the limited-ingredient food added to his usual dry kibble, and very much enjoyed eating the Entrees recipes on their own. In both cases, I have seriously never seen him finish meals so fast!

I also added the bone broth to his dry food on occasion to add variety and get that ever-so-important moisture in his diet. He loved the taste, and I loved the idea of slipping some different nutrients and extra moisture into his weekly meal rotation.

Not too surprisingly, Makoa is a big fan of the Filet Treats, and my daughter absolutely loves feeding him the Lickable Treats. It’s been a wonderful bonding activity for the two of them.

Overall, I have been really impressed with the product from Reveal, not just because of the quality of the ingredients and high moisture content, but I really love how easily they added variety to my cat’s life, in terms of both flavor and nutrition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reveal Wet Cat Food & Treats Review_ Our Expert’s Opinion7

1. What’s the difference between Reveal Wet Food Entrees and Reveal Limited Ingredient Wet Food?

Reveal Wet Food Entrees are designed to be complete and balanced meals for everyday feeding, combining real animal protein with added vitamins and minerals. Reveal Limited Ingredient Wet Food uses fewer ingredients featuring visible cuts of meat or fish to add enticing flavors and moisture as a complementary food or topper.

2. How often can I give my cat Reveal treats?

Reveal Bone Broth Treats, Lickable Treats, and Filet Treats are intended as treats, toppers, or supplemental snacks, and should only make up around 5-10% of your cat’s overall diet. They’re designed to add enjoyment, encourage hydration, combat picky eating, and create moments of enrichment throughout the day while complementing your cat’s regular feeding routine.

3. Who are Reveal products best suited for?

Reveal products are especially appealing for picky eaters, cats that struggle to get enough moisture or primarily eat a kibble diet, and owners who prefer simple ingredient lists and recognizable proteins. The variety across meals, toppers, and treats also makes the lineup useful for households looking to add more hydration, rotation, or excitement to mealtime.

4. Can Cats with Kidney Disease eat Reveal Wet Cat Food?

One of the most important nutrients for cats with kidney problems is water, so food with high moisture content can be a great way to maximize their intake. However, cats with kidney disease also need to consume lower levels of protein, sodium, and phosphorus, depending on the stage and severity of the kidney disease, so it’s important to pay close attention to the guaranteed analysis and talk to your vet before introducing a new food, just to be on the safe side.

Conclusion

If you’re worried that your cat’s staple diet isn’t providing enough variety, protein, or moisture, then I highly recommend looking into Reveal’s canned food lines and treats.

The Entrees range provides a high-quality, complete, and balanced wet diet, while the limited ingredient cans are perfect for adding moisture and flavor to kibble. And the wide variety of protein-packed treats is the perfect way to spoil your kitty and add some much-needed spice to their life, without compromising on quality.
