Our Final Verdict

We give Cat Person a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Cat Person Food is a subscription-based cat food company that delivers high-protein, minimally processed food to your door. They utilize only human-grade ingredients and have several recipes to choose from.

    About Cat Person

cat person wet cat food recipes

Who Makes Cat Person and Where Is It Produced?

Cat Person produces all of their food. The company is relatively new and was founded in 2020 by Lambert Wang and Jimmy Wu. They saw a significant lack of quality cat food and decided to change that!

Their wet food is made in Thailand using a manufacturer that primarily creates human food.

Which Types of Cats Is Cat Person Best Suited For?

Cat Person makes quality, healthy food that’s great for practically any cat. If you can afford it, you can’t choose a better cat food. It’s also very convenient, as it gets delivered to your door. You can sign up for a subscription, so you’ll never have to worry about running out of food. Cat Person is a stellar option if you’re busy and don’t have time to shop in person for cat food.

Cat Person is committed to using sustainable practices. The company’s food is made with sustainable ingredients and uses sustainable packaging. This makes it an excellent option for cat owners who are concerned about the environmental impact of their cat’s food. Even the small pamphlet I received with my food was recyclable.

The Primary Ingredients (Good and Bad)

Cat Person utilizes quality animal proteins in their formulas. In fact, that’s practically all their food is. There are no grains or significant carbohydrate sources. The exact protein utilized depends on the flavor. For instance, the Tuna & Salmon recipe includes tuna, fish broth, salmon, and sunflower oil as the primary ingredients.

Each meal is fortified with nutrients that your cat needs. Therefore, the recipes are nutritionally complete, even though most look like canned meat.

Feeding your cat a high-quality diet is important for keeping them healthy and happy. But it goes beyond the food you choose; the dishes they use also matter. The Hepper NomNom Cat Bowl is our favorite for its unique, five-star design that protects from whisker fatigue and promotes good posture which also aids in better digestion. As an added bonus, it’s beautifully crafted and offers a modern take on the traditional cat bowl that fits seamlessly with all home stylings. Learn more about the NomNom by clicking here.

At Catster, we’ve admired Hepper for many years and decided to take a controlling ownership interest so that we could benefit from the outstanding designs of this cool cat company!

    Price

Cat Person is a bit costly when compared to other options. You can purchase much cheaper wet food at the store. However, you may not get the same quality, and you have to go to the store to purchase the food. Cat Person is not a budget food, and we want the best for our cats!

Reviewing the Most Popular Cat Person Wet Cat Foods

Let’s look at some of Cat Person’s most popular recipes: chicken & duck shreds in broth, chicken pate, and tuna pate.

    1. Chicken & Duck Shreds in Broth

If your cat prefers shredded wet food, Chicken & Duck Shreds in Broth is a great option. The first ingredient is chicken, followed by chicken broth and duck. When you open this food, you can tell that it’s made primarily of meat. Plus, adding broth instead of water increases the nutritional content of this food.

The food is packaged in single-serving cups, which makes it much easier to feed your cat. Each container includes five smaller cups, which are recyclable and compostable.

Because the recipe is primarily meat, it’s very enticing to cats. If your feline is picky, it may convince them to eat. Plus, it’s also great for kittens and older cats, as the shreds are very soft.

    Pros
    • Very tasty
    • High in protein
    • Chicken and duck are the primary ingredients
    • Very easy to serve
    Cons
    • None

    2. Chicken Pate

    Chicken Pate

As the name suggests, this recipe is made primarily of chicken, with chicken, chicken broth, and dried egg as the main ingredients. The rest of the ingredients are nutritional supplements to ensure your feline gets everything they need. This recipe is simple, high-quality, and healthy.

According to the website, the chicken recipe contains 53% chicken and 35% broth (the rest is mostly egg). It contains no potatoes, corn, rice, or wheat, either. Like all Cat Person’s recipes, the Chicken Pate comes in small single-serve cups. They’re much easier to open than a can while keeping the food fresh for an extended period.

    Pros
    • Easy-open cups
    • Chicken as the primary ingredient
    • Grain-free and low-carb
    • Simple ingredient list for sensitive cats
    Cons
    • None

    3. Tuna Pate

    Tuna Pate

The Tuna Pate includes tuna, fish broth, and dried egg, which helps it keep its structure and provide added nutrients. As always, this food is nutritionally complete with added vitamins and minerals.

The tuna recipe does not have the broth content like the other recipes we tried. However, the lack of broth may make some cats like it less, though it is mostly a matter of personal preference.

    Pros
    • Tuna as the primary ingredient
    • Nutritionally complete
    • Easy-to-serve cups
    Cons
    • No broth

    Our Experience With Cat Person

Cat in box with Cat person foods

My first impression of Cat Person was very good. I was particularly impressed by the single-serve cups, which are much easier to open than a can. A simple tug on the plastic tab opened the container—no need to break out the scissors or a can opener. Plus, there were no sharp edges to rip through my garbage bag!

The single-serve cups are also recyclable, as is most of the packaging. While I was initially a bit overwhelmed by the amount of plastic, the fact that everything is recyclable eased my mind.

My cat, Koa, immediately took to the food. He particularly liked the tuna pate recipe, which he devoured. I would probably say that out of all the recipes we tried, the tuna pate took the number one spot.

And, of course, Koa loved the box as well. Making a little box fort helped him work up an appetite!

    Conclusion

Cat Person produces quality cat food from human-grade, quality ingredients. It’s designed to be healthy and delicious. It is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, which is precisely what most cats need. Their wet foods are made almost entirely out of meat, with a few nutritional supplements thrown in. When you open one of their single-serve cups, it’s challenging to tell the food apart from canned tuna.

Speaking of their cups, they are one of the best solutions to feeding cats we’ve ever seen. They’re easy to open and recyclable. You can buy food by the pack or create a subscription-based meal plan for your feline. Unlike other subscription-based companies, you don’t have to sign up for a subscription to try their food. Therefore, you can easily try a few recipes and see if they’re a fitting food for your feline.
